FAU's new stadium will still be under construction and it seems that the game will be played in either Chicago or Detroit.

Here is the article:

Soldier field would be a great venue in early September. But if the game gets moved to Detroit, MSU will not have to leave the state of Michigan until October 16th.

Just to piss off stinky

At the time I thought they were a terrible idea like stinky but the recruiting thread is going to get jumbled up with practice info and what not.

Could do better than everyone having their own thread but these will work for now.

Did anyone see what they said about MSU on College Football Live today?  I just turned it back from commercial now and they had already talked about MSU.

So the basics of the first day include:
-Winston's return
-Caper looking like a beast
-Offensive line seems to be a work in progress
-Jenrette back as well

Nothing really. They said they have cousins the holdover and Nichol who reminds some of Drew Stanton. The segment couldn't have been more than 10 seconds and they never said who leads or anything.

Good idea on the thread. I was actually thinking doing this earlier today.

Pretty much covers it.  Would I be the only one shocked if Mcghaa was able to keep the right guard spot?  It just seems that Ruhland or one of the upper classman would snatch that spot up.

What I think is good about he offensive line is that there are a lot of guys to choose from and hopefully enough guys step up and start performing

I think our OL will come along this year.  I really wasnt impressed with the players we lost last year anyway.  Miller and Martin had a combined 70 starts, or whatever, but I would say that Martin had an avg Sr. year and Miller was below avg with how much experience those two had.

My main concern is at DL.  I think we will be great against the run again (worthy=beast), but Im nervous about the pass rush.  You know a healthy Anderson is going to be a plus, but I'm not sold on Neely, or whomever at the other spot.  We struggled all year last year getting pressure with the front four.

you think with Wilson, Worthy, Jordan, Johnson that they will command more attention in the middle which could open up the DE's a little?

Man I love looking at that group.  Too bad AJ has been a disappointment so far in his development, but you have to love our depth at DT.  I really like Rolf and would love to see him step up to be opposite of Anderson.  I still think Sims ends up playing some DE this year with how much talent we have on the offensive side of the ball at TE.

I was 'shocked' at the size of Caper.  Just from the one picture...not even a video.  Does not look like a freshman to me.

Very curious how this RB position pans out.  Who else has 7 RBs on roster?  Sounds like they should get some return men from this group vs. the WRs.  You know Winston will compete at KR.

Jeremiah has all the potential in the world too bad he just wont get his ass in gear.
You think Rolf has enough weight on him to be effective? What about Hoover, or did he get moved inside?

As long as Caper can learn the blocking schemes, playbook, etc, I see him as our RB.  Anderson and Jimmerson have both been given their opportunities to carry the rock and neither has shown enough to warrant being the #1.  Obviously, being from Muskegon, I hope Leggett gets some more carries this fall, but as long as Caper, Baker, and Winston can pick up on everything I see them as our main guys.

Anyone think that Rock Baker could return kicks?  Wouldnt mind seeing he and Winston back there with Kmart returning punts.

Penciled in this spring, but now we have Roderick Jenrette back so it will be a battle.  He has looked very good and has been a great surprise for the coaching staff.  He has moved to safety btw.

I agree. For some reason I think Caper is going to win the job and it wont be close.
Sure they will have at least 2 guys sharing the load but Caper is gonna be the main ball carrier.

Ralf, why did you think I was close with Nichol?

Update from Rexrode
http://noise.typepad.com/hey_joe/2009/08/media-day-notes.html

Quote

Media day notes

The assistant coaches and selected players took on all comers at round tables this morning. Among the tidbits that emerged:

   * The right side of the offensive line is more wide open than it might have seemed coming out of spring. Coach Dan Roushar said five legit contenders are vying for the two spots. At tackle, Brendon Moss and D.J. Young are in the mix along with J'Michael Deane. But Deane (who has a tender Achilles at this point) is starting out camp at No. 1 right guard, with spring No. 1 Jared McGaha and Chris McDonald also in the mix there. Moss is starting with the 1s at RT.
The only semi-certainty seems to be that Deane will be with the 1s somewhere. His athleticism prompted Roushar to give him a shot at a position with more moving around. Young, the Bowling Green transfer from Sexton, is an impressive pass blocker. Moss is a fifth-year guy with experience, and McDonald and McGaha are young guys with upside. Look for much more on the OL on Wednesday.
    * There's a lot of emphasis on QB coach Dave Warner's evaluation skills this month. He reiterated that Kirk Cousins and Keith Nichol are "dead even" and will split reps, alternating days as the main guy with the first unit. He will judge everything daily and carefully. And if one guy were to clearly emerge, "it would probably make life a little more boring for me," he said.
    * Ted Gill said Antonio Jeremiah is not too far from an acceptable weight (Gill would like to see him around 310) and that he's excited to have Jeremiah and his potential back on the defensive line because "you never know when it's gonna explode." He had more praise for Ishmyl Johnson, who is Oren Wilson's backup at nose tackle and who "surprises you every day." Gill also said it's "flip a coin" at the starting 3-tech between Kevin Pickelman and Jerel Worthy.
    * On the injury front, the only guy who is limited as camp starts is freshman wideout Bennie Fowler (foot).
    * Pat Narduzzi had lots to say. He told the media to keep an eye on Denzel Drone, the incoming freshman defensive end. He could battle for some snaps. He praised the three freshman linebackers, Chris Norman, Jeremy Gainer and Tyquan Hammock. He likes what he sees early in freshman safeties Jairus Jones and Denicos Allen. He said Jon Misch looks good at OLB and is actually putting on some weight. He thinks the strength of the defense will be the secondary, and that might inspire him to get five DBs on the field more. Also, MSU might use the 3-4 alignment more often. It has strictly been a third-and-long thing the past two seasons, but he thinks his veterans can handle mixing it in more often, which would make MSU's defense tougher to scout.
Mark Dantonio will speak in a few minutes.

I cannot get enough of these updates.  Amazing comments on the freshman given this is day 2.

I had heard rumblings earlier this summer on Drone.

I love the idea of mixing in some 3-4.  Especially with our LB corps and DB group.  Narduzzi's has to be loving it.

Another note I picked up "Interesting note: QB coach Dave Warner said he would prefer not to have a two QB system, but said it's ultimately Dantonio's call."

not trying to hijack the thread, but thank you. Now the rest of us dont have to hear about the bitch fits some of you guys are having over on spartanmag. I'd rather hear whats going on with other big ten teams practices then have to hear about shitty mods and banishments.  At least that info is relevant.
