Finally the World Series is over so we can get to the hot stove. Two trades already in the last couple days.

We'll see if we can't keep this thread going for a while with some updates in the subject header.

Other rumor is Teahen to the OF, Beckham to 2B and Figgins signed to play 3B.

I would  not quite rolling at the White Sux wasting ABs on Teahen in the OF.

I don't really get the Figgins thing. He's a 32-year-old speed guy with a career slugging percentage of .388. Part of the reason they didn't win this year was because they allowed their line-up to get old. Now they want to sign Figgins to a huge deal? Makes no sense.

Just for the sake of devil's advocate:

1. I think Figgins makes a much better lead-off option than anyone they have.  He and Beckham could do some solid work setting up their power hitters.  In that park, you have to get on base for those cheapie home runs that are sure to follow.

2. At least speed guys age pretty well.  They maintain range and on-base skills.

3. He's old, but it is for a position that is very tough to fill.

Will Figgins really get a huge deal?  Even though he's another old player, the division is weak and there for the taking.  Playing for now isn't the worst idea.

Braves looking to deal Lowe or Vasquez to a smaller extent for a power bat. Got tough decisions to make on Gonzo, Soriano, and LaRoche.

No one is dealing for Lowe, let alone a power bat.

Not surprising.  They will likely cut cost and can run out Elbert and J Mac to eat his innings for free, not for 10 mil

I'm not a Dodgers fan but their rotation needs a boost and they could use a power bat in their infield, but I don't know where they'd put it.

Yeah bad contract and no one is dealing a valuable power chip for him.

Vasquez on the other hand could net you a valuable bat and I think they can do better than Uggla that is for sure.

I still think Colletti is an idiot, but signing Wolf to a 1 year 5 mil deal over Lowe at 4 and 60 was a great move.  Lowe had a hand in it too.

The problem with Javy is that I bet a lot of AL teams would be leery, you can certainly remove the Yankees.  Plus teams like LA and maybe the Angels who would want him - he can block a deal.

Since we're going to be dealing with this anyway, I propose this activity. (if you guys want to)

Build me a realistic trade scenario that would net your team Felix Hernandez. I believe he is 2 years from free agency with 1 year of arby and it's going to take a historic amount of prospects.

pick any 6 players in the Dodgers farm system.  Gordon and Withrow plus 4.

Anyone expecting anything from Ben Sheets, don't. His arm is shot.

Rangers are in limbo until the new ownership is worked out. I don't expect that until February at the earliest.
