My absolute go-to spot. We splurge on everything else, and save money on food... I can get bomb-ass food in the Bay Area, I don't need to get bomb-ass food in LV marked up like 300%
To each his own. I enjoy a good hot dog too. But, don't slap Vegas for seemingly high markups. In my experience, you get what you pay for with Vegas food. Bardot Brasserie takes 24 hours to prepare its Chicken Roti. It's the best chicken I've ever had, and it's not expensive IMO. Carbone is pricey, but the food is served family style and you get a lot of it...and their Rigatone Vodka, meatballs and chicken parmesan are heavenly. Sage cooks its short ribs for 48 hours. They are the best short ribs I've ever had. Julian Serrano's paella is as good as the best you will find in Spain. Javier's makes everything from scratch. All ingredients are fresh. The seafood at Aria is less than 24 hours old after harvest. The executive chefs inspect every order and throw away everything that that fails to meet their high standards. I can go on and on. You have to consider the quality of the root foods and the time and expertise put into the preparation when you critique the cost. I have no doubt that seafood is cheaper in San Fran. It makes sense. But, Vegas' chefs, many of whom are celebrity chefs and world-renowned, provide tremendous price points given the dining experiences they are able to provide.
Meanwhile... I'm watching a dude threaten to jump off the parking garage at the D downtown. Police have streets shut down around downtown. Fun stuff for a Thursday lunch break.
been a weird week for the D, didn't they find a dead woman in the laundry chute? not gonna stop me from throwing craps there in 3 weeks tho
Yeah. Fell, pushed, something. Went 15 floors down. Latest news said she is on camera having a fight with her husband/boyfriend and locking herself in a supply closet shortly before.
there was a shooting at cosmo last week too. staying there for 2 days, i gotta keep my drunk mouth shut
Finally ate at Lotus of Siam. The best Also, if at the Chandelier Bar (my fav) you have to get the Verbena Cocktail. Just have to
Found Airfare for $150 round for the first round of march madness. Hotel is comped but I would only be bringing a bankroll of 500 for 3 days 2 nights. Would the trip be worth it?
Looking forward to meeting some of you at Cosmo for March Madness. Will try the Old Fashioned and Verbena Cocktail at Chandelier.
I'll be in Vegas Cinco de Mayo weekend. Canelo v. Khan, Kentucky Derby, NBA Playoffs, Baseball, golf, nascar i'm sure.... just gonna be a crazy weekend of sports (this is notoriously the best sports weekend of the year).
I'm Aria-centric, so take it for what it's worth....the Old Fashioned at Herringbone is my favorite right now. Runners-up are Carbone and Double-Helix at Town Square. The Herringbone version uses Tipplemans bourbon barrel smoked maple syrup and is garnished with candied bacon. It's very unique.
Going back next month. The week of the 25th. May switch it up and stay at the bellagio or Mandalay this time.
I quit Vegas. Spoiler wife ended up with a great offer back home so we're moving. Here til the 29th/30th ish of this month. It was an interesting and worth-while year.
Iowa. I'm not a huge fan of the city itself, but I'm really going to miss the outdoor opportunities and things like that.
75 days to go- cant wait. $500 cash saved in my "gambling fund" basically every Sunday I take the cash out of my wallet and put it in a stack in my desk and forget about it Also we booked The Linq for hotel rooms- it was $339 per person for the 4 nights over Memorial Day weekend. I didnt think that was awful
How old are you? Asking because Linq is a younger crowd. The casino is perfectly adequate but they built the new Osheas there and while it looks nice and fun it's miserable. Just a bunch of 21 year olds standing around listening to awful live music playing beer pong. Try to avoid is what I'm saying.
28- going with a group of 21 guys for a Bach party ages 28-30. I think we plan on gambling at Ceasars and Aria
Unless you're status somewhere or are already getting comped don't try and plan where you'll gamble. Trust me. Especially with a group that big. Likely to end up in like 6 casinos at any given time amongst the group.
Heading to vegas for St. Pattys day, 6:20AM flight out of orlando thurs morning...red eye back sunday night will be getting on that flight back like this
had the most incredible bachelor party weekend bardot brasserie was great we went to downtown vegas the first night for cheaper gambling/drinks to ease into the weekend, tons of fun a cabana at wet republic and then got into marquee the next night (randomly, lost a phone and got hooked up by the guy who found it... ridiculous) had yusho for dinner that night finally, did liquid (hooked up again), dinner at lavo, and then a table at hakkasan our last night. seriously, an incredible weekend.
First year going to Vegas for March Madness. Flying out this evening to meet EMAW FC who is already there. Going to be nuts
I want to say a lot of places are $1-2k on that some up to $5k. Let me ask around and let you know in a few hours.
Glad you had a great time at Aria. Liquid only opened for the season a few days ago. There were lots of Duck fans in town for the PAC12 tourney. My son and I hit Fremont Street on Sunday night. It was fun, if not a bit chilly.
So... I was able to get to Boyd and William hill so far. Boyd is 1k. William Hill is 2k without a players card, no limit with a card, but they need an approval override type of thing for super high dollar bets. I'm just wandering around downtown on my "lunch". I'm basically not doing anything my last week at work.
Stayed downtown last night, Mermaids always a good way to start the night. $10 in the Texas tea machine and 10 drinks later we're feeling pretty good. Table games the rest of the night. $20 sandwich worked at Cosmo today, got a studio terrace room w/ fountain view. Watching champions league at aria book now, pumped for March madness.
Going in June. Best dining experiences I've had are Mesa Grille and Nobu. Any favs the experts would suggest? I'm going to be attending a conference, so not tons of time to do much, and probably going with a co-worker who is not a big gambler. I like to play some BJ and craps, but by no means a high roller. What are the thoughts on poker? I like to play but I'm no Phil Ivey. Would I be:
For poker any room that has 1/2NL just watch out for sharks at the table that play at low key casinos looking for fish.
my first hour in Vegas my first trip, I was playing 1/2 NL this kid doubles up two hands in a row and says see y'all later. Im gonna got an 8ball and a hooker
