Does anyone have experience with Amana kitchen appliances? Looking at a set of them for my rental, $1,700 for side by side, range, microwave, and dishwasher. Hardly think it's worth upgrading to whirlpool for an additional $300 since the internals are the same. http://www.brandsmartusa.com/mobile/catalog/catalog-product.jsp?prodId=179543
brand new dishwasher leaking, any fairly common culprits? I'm dreading calling the builder under our warranty plan.
Front bottom, it's not constant, it's sporadic, sometimes it will go the whole cycle and no problems, other times it leaks randomly.
My first guess would be a loose hose or a poor seal around the door, either of those should be relatively easy to spot if you pull the dishwasher out a bit and take a look. If you have the time, there are lots of DIY dishwasher repair videos on youtube if you have a remotely common dishwasher. When we moved into our house I had to replace the part that dispenses the detergent because the release mechanism was broken. $30 part off amazon and about 30 minutes watching the how-to video and actually replacing the part, and we were in business.
My wife loves to put spatulas in the front basket so that it can get caught in the door gasket causing the door to leak randomly
Waited at home from 9AM-1PM for comcast to show up to install internet today. They "lost my appointment" and the next available day is in a week and a half. They are going to credit me $50 though. I would rather pay $50 more and have this shit done right. Damn Comcast sucks.
A month or so ago on a Thursday they scheduled an appointment with me "tomorrow between 2-6 pm." The next day, Friday, I left work early and waited at my house for them. At about 6:30 I received an automated call confirming my appointment the following day (Saturday) at 2-6 pm. I had to cancel because I had tickets to a game. Idiots.
we have a newish dishwasher and the one time it leaked from the front bottom was when we ran a full cycle but there wasnt much in the washer. Literally the only time. i doubt that helps but it reminds me of an odd leaking incident with ours.
Went to Home Depot and hired a couple of Mexicans to spread around 8 tons of pea gravel. My back couldn't take that again.
huge hailstorm just came through and split into two cells on the radar that went on either side of my house. People's homes, roofs, windows, cars, etc. got obliterated with golfball to baseball-sized hail just miles from where I live. I was feeling pretty smug until I realized my car is at the mechanics right in the middle of the war zone. Unless they parked it inside I'm fucked.
Are you going to put handles on the cabinets, or keep the clean smooth look? Looks great though, well done.
Wife has been begging me for months to go to Lowes and pick some up. With prices like that I might just have to.
That was a big debate. I prefer no handles but she wanted some. But then I woke up and realized I'm paying for it.
They did all of that in like 4 hours. Dug down 2 inches, put in metal landscape border, landscape paper then the gravel. Fucking back breaking work and they didn't even crack a sweat.
That truly amazes me. I have been doing a yard reno for about a year and every time I've had to do projects like that it's kicked my ass. Moving several tons of topsoil, compost, and mulch in the next month. I'll probably do it myself but I will for sure "crack a sweat" and then some.
Looks really nice dude. Was just asking because we plan to refinish our oak cabinets to that Java/espresso color
Has anyone converted their tub/shower combo to a glass shower only? DIY or contractor? from something like this: To this: I already have a stylish looking subway tile walls so I would just need to remove the existing tub, construct the new base and add new tile where the tub was. Ballpark estimates on having a contractor do it? Thanks
how many have done a cash out refinance? i'm looking into refinancing right now - between that and having PMI removed, i'd be saving about $250/mo based on the estimates my lender sent me so I'd be in the green within a year after fees (about two ignoring PMI) - but I also want to remodel my kitchen. So I'm considering pulling out about $20K...
You guys just get hammered with some wicked hail out there. I work in sales for a roof shingle manufacturer, and I have customers that would love to see that out here in GA. They run around calling it "Sky diamonds." We do really well with the impact resistant products in OK & TX.
Last year I refinanced to get rid of pmi. Was about the same rate but saved me about $250 in pmi. After that was closed I took out an equity loan, probably would have done it with the refinance but I needed more than I could get out at 80%. Went up to 90% and pay about 5% on it, could have done better on this but my credit utilization at the time was shit and had a bunch of hard hits on my report with doing the refinance and other things.
Inspection came back fine on our house. Just one minor gutter to repair. There were some other smallish things on the report but we just negotiated a lower purchase price in lieu of. Appraisal came in above our contract price. As a realtor I knew the comps anyway, but they are favorable. I will probably do about 8-10k worth of work right off the bat, then some other stuff over time.
so any seed planting tips? closing at end of april, and the old owners had a brick porch they didnt extend it all the way to the fence line, so i probably have a 10x20 area of brush/nothing. Was going to clear the brush and plant seeds but i know nothing
They're tested to a UL standard that simulates a 2" hail stone traveling at 72 MPH (UL 2218 Class 4). The good thing for you is that homeowners insurance providers offer per year premium discounts for having that shingle on your roof. Of course, it depends on the provider, but we have seen as much as 30% per year. The shingle can pay for itself over time.
If they're smart they had it inside. Assuming you're in the Wylie area. Cars are beyond creamed up here.
USAA alone has around 7,500 homeowners claims down in San Antonio. All their carrier guys are flocking down there to help out and i'm getting like 7 a day up here while they're gone. It's amazing.
They're scrambling like crazy. I'm posted up at a shop with a bunch of their guys. They were saying it was more like 10,000 or more down there now (just auto).
I think its going to be way more than that in Auto. They insure about half of that city so I can't imagine how hard they're going to get hit with this one. Perfectly happy to stay home and take all the ones their local guys would usually do and sleep in my own bed.
So closing went on time and completed in about 40 minutes. Hot ass woman working all my paperwork asked if I needed anything and I said "about 200 grand for this house now". She grinned all devilishly and said I will go half and got me a sprite. I already signed the papers hooker, I don't need something else to drain my monies.
Yes I know I'm an idiot. Do houses have a vent for water/plumbing that goes out the side of the house for overflowing and air? How often do these back up? And if it backs up any chance it doesn't just smell like shit? EDIT: This drain is right out side of one of my bathrooms but also but also shuts out to the side of my AC unit. Smells like something has died but I can't find anything. And have no clue what to do.
I had a similar issue. In my case, I replaced the bathroom fan and it cleared up. There is a pipe that leads up to the roof that expells the air. The fan moves the air enough to open the vent that lets it escape. My fan stopped doing that. I noticed it when I took a hot shower...smelled like sewer gas. Haven't noticed it since. Full disclosure - I have no idea what I'm doing
Yeah they're odd, seems like they just move around their local dudes around instead of having an actual dedicated hail team. They got creamed in Killeen a couple years back and had like 150 adjusters rolling around town. I bet they're fun to write for though. Seems like a great company.
