Flying Southwest for the first time and did mobile check in. Boarding passes dont list my TSA precheck. That's some bullshit. I'm gonna get there early tomorrow and talk to the people at the desk and see if they can fix it.
Flew into St. Thomas yesterday, then ferry over to Tortola. Got on the boat today and we're now moored at the Bight on Norman Island. Rum time...God, I'm in heaven.
hmmm I just randomly saw a buddy I went to high school with, that lives in Denver now, is on a bachelor trip with a bunch of surfers in Rosarito. Kind of figured it had to be the same trip.

Det. Frank Bullitt Gin Buckets I'm going to get some of the packing cubes for my next trip. How many would I need and what type? Is a starter set with 3 enough?
To picky back on this, are there any other reputable brands out there? The one posted doesn't ship to Canada.
Mine were all gifts, so I'm not sure about brands, and all I have are the large ones. Great for moving, and general travel, but almost too big for backpacking. All of the clothes you'd need to fit would fit in big one I'd say. Det. Frank Bullitt probably has a better perspective.
PJP3 Cotton500 I have this many. Most are medium sized, as they are the most versatile. Note the pair of shoes left for scale. I leave folded up dress shirts in the far right one so I can grab and go. As soon as I get back from a trip, I launder the shirts and put them right back in there for 'storage' until i travel with them again. I've used all of them except the bottom left which is a shoe bag that I got for christmas that I haven't used yet. I like traveling with only one pair of shoes if possible, so it will get less use than the others anyway. Some are double sided in that you can put dirty in one side and clean on the other, but still use the exact same footprint. a big pro of these is that these eagle creek ones have really good quality workmanship with good zippers, so i can stuff them full (reducing space) and not worry about the seam popping. It makes a big difference too, when you are backpacking and living out of a....backpack. beats fumbling around 5 days worth of clothes just stuffed into your pack. With these, you just hve to know which cube to get out. If I have my rollaboard, I probably don't need these. I would recommend getting a multipack which has a couple different sizes. it might even be a touch cheaper that way. again, they rarely go on sale via Amazon or REI, from my observation.
Dude. We're at Spray Bay. Peter Island Resort. It's incredible. Never been here before and this Bay just got a permenant spot in the rotation. This place has everything. Actually think my bro may come here for his honeymoon next year.
Stupid question - can I use my credit card in Italy or should we just plan to take a lot of cash out and exchanging before entering italy
In Italy, yes, at most restaurants you'll be able to use your credit card. DO NOT take a bunch of cash and exchange it. You'll get charged absurd rates. Take your debit card and just use ATMs (probably too late to find a card/bank that doesn't charge ATM/international fees).
Need to find a credit card with no foreign transaction fee (Chase Sapphire cough cough). All those free points
The venture from cap one is so much better than the sapphire for rewards. Only thing sapphire has over it is trip protection for delays and whatnot.
Maybe over the long haul, because the Chase Sapphire is such a good deal primarily due to the free 50K points for spending $4K in first 3 months.
I don't have this exact one (some of mine are hand me downs), but this looks just like the ones i have http://shop.eaglecreek.com/packit-clean-dirty-cube/d/1318_cl_2940
Welp, had my global entry interview today. Mentioned my reckless driving and he said it will probably get me denied but I'll know for sure in the next few days. Apparently I can write to an ombudsman to get the denial overturned. Here's to hoping I find my inner Mark Twain.
I got denied for a misdemeanor drinking ticket from when I was 19. I had no idea I was even convicted, as when I was in court I was found not guilty. Honestly seems like a clerical error, as I've never heard this from anyone prior to this. Had no until until the interview. I wrote the dude in October, haven't heard anything yet. My officer said she believes I'll be fine, it just takes forever. Keep the letter short is what she told me.
Are we talking one reckless driving ticket or do you have a habit of drag racing through the city? I've never heard of anyone being rejected before.
If you have any misdemeanor conviction they can't approve you without an appeal. It's a denial on sight
I mean I never turn down a battle if pink slips are on the line, but yes only one conviction for reckless driving. He said no misdemeanors in the last 10 years.
That sucks about the timing...I was hoping I'd have an answer one way or the other by the time I leave for BA.
Nothing booked yet, but looking to go down end of July or beginning of August. I expect a full write up by the time I leave plz thx.
In two weeks we only spent 500 euro cash, the rest went on card, and that includes 2 50 euro car rides to and from the airport that we had to pay in cash. I'd just use the ATM at the airport when you get their, as someone suggested to me.
In the International Terminal at ATL they had an ATM with all kinds of foreign currencies in it. I was on my way to India and it was out of rupees but I thought it was a really cool idea. I've always wondered why I've never seen those in other places. Not sure what the service charge was but since my bank refunds ATM charges it would have been no cost. Walt Disney this was in 2013 so it might not still be there but if you're flying out of ATL it was ~20 yards down the terminal from One Flew South, which you need to stop in anyway because it's generally considered one of the best airport restaurants in the world.
BayouMafia I know you go to India (or went in the past) a lot for work, but did you ever get to do anything tourist-y? Or even have any desire to? What city(ies) did you frequent the most? Next year I'm thinking about a trip to Northern India (Delhi, Agra (taj mahal), Varanasi) into Nepal, and possibly Tibet.
Going to disagree entirely, but to each his own. Varanasi is top 3 anywhere in the world for me. And I just dont believe 'everyone hates' Nepal and Tibet.
Arkadin is correct, I fucking hate India. It's a dirty, filthy, disgusting place. I could write a 20 page essay about all the things I hate about the country, the culture, etc without stopping once. My 13 trips were all to Mumbai and I only did sightseeing stuff around Mumbai which sucked. The exception was my very last trip when we went to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, which was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. It's incredible. I've actually thought quite a bit about how the logistics of getting my wife over to see it without spending time in India doing anything else. I spent 3 hours on a tarmac in Varanasi once because Air India sucks (a story for another post), but otherwise the couple of days I spent in Delhi around the Agra trip (again because Air India sucks) made me realize that I wasn't missing much. I've heard people say that the interior of India, especially the hill stations, is much nicer but I never had any interest in experiencing those. When I had time to get outside of Mumbai on a long weekend I flew to places like Dubai and Bangkok just to get out of India for a few days and give my sense of smell a rest.
The air India thing is relevant for BamaNug imo. Iirc you said they'll just decide your flight is canceled and leave you fucked with nowhere to go
Thanks. I've always wanted to go to Varanasi, high on the bucket list. And it's fairly close to Agra, so I couldn't go without see the Taj Mahal, and I know there is talk of closing it to tourists permanently due to it deteriorating. Anybody you know try to make it to Nepal? Tibet looks like quite a hassle to get into, with their weird tourist restrictions (have to go through an agency/group, can't just visit on your own), but they also have flights from Kathmandu.
