In Chicago this weekend. Good reminder of how much I hated living here after the initial "yeah, big city" wore off. The traffic, the people, the trash, the parking, the prices, etc. Can't wait to get back to the mitten state tomorrow.
So there was a guy caught spraying a combination of rat poison and hand sanitizer on the hot food bar at Whole Foods on Eisenhower in Ann Arbor last week. He also did it at Meijer on Ann Arbor-Saline Rd and Plum Market on Plymouth as well as up to a dozen other stores around the state. According to the MDARD release, other potentially affected stores include: Busch's - 2240 S Main Street - Ann Arbor, MI Cupcake Station - 116 E Liberty - Ann Arbor, MI Family Fare - 2026 North Saginaw - Midland, MI Kroger- 3838 Richfield Road - Flint, MI Meijer, #108 - 7300 Eastman Ave - Midland, MI Meijer, #213 - 9515 Birch Run Rd - Birch Run, MI Millers Mini Mart - 3001 Bay City Rd - Midland, MI Target - 2000 Waters Road - Ann Arbor, MI Tsai Grocery - 3115 Oak Valley Drive - Ann Arbor, MI Walmart - 910 Joe Mann Blvd - Midland, MI Walmart - 7000 E Michigan Ave - Saline, MI Whole Foods - 3135 Washtenaw Ave - Ann Arbor, MI http://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/index.ssf/2016/05/fbi_man_sprayed_mouse_poison_m_1.html
It was, but it isn't anymore. It took 2 days for people to figure out that 96 to 696 to the Lodge to Southfield Freeway or 94 was a terrible way to get to anywhere south of the Jeffries, and it was smooth sailing this morning. Going home has been a little faster all week, although the mixing bowl is still a clusterfuck. My commute is probably going to be amazing when they close 275 North.
75 South has been awful in the morning that it has been quicker taking side streets from Royal Oak into downtown lately. Saved me almost 10 minutes today taking side streets according to my google maps traffic app
If you have to have molly, you will probably have the best luck on festival grounds. The street guys will have weed, coke, h, and maybe some pills or meth but are less likely to have molly. Otherwise let us know where you're staying and what you're looking to do outside of the festival and we can get you set up.
Waiting for the ferry for the trip over to the Grand Hotel for the weekend. Everything free thanks to those good Catholics of the Knights of Columbus.
75 N between 3-7 is even worse than the mornings. In the morning, I take side streets and I jump on at McNichols. My time on 75 is only like 10 minutes when I do.
Every highway between 3pm and 7pm is terrible right now. The current move for people going west on 696 to 96 is to hop into the far right lane on 696 until it ends about a mile before the M-5 exit, then cut back across the traffic line of people waiting to take M-5 north to stay on 96. Meanwhile, fuckheads who stayed in the left two lanes where you'd end up on 96 west are cutting into the line on the right to get onto M-5. It will get better when school gets out, and better yet when 275 South opens and 275 North closes, but going west during rush hour right now is a fucking nightmare.
Speaking of 75. I saw a dude die a few weeks ago. Dude wasn't paying attention and trucks were stopped waiting to get on the bridge to Canada. He looked up last second, tried to take the shoulder, smoked the wall, car bounced and smoked the front end of a semi. Semi exploded and the car was flipped over on its roof.
Did they ever catch the dude who unloaded a clip on that dude on 94? Did that guy end up dying? Assassination attempt on the highway. God, I love this city
We need to get some inside informaton and find out where Dan Gilbert is going to build that soccer stadium, buy the property with HUD money and sit on it. Then sell that shit when they come knocking. At least that's what happens in my dreams.
Heading down to Indy for race weekend and just got hit with a 4:00 meeting, so I'll get to drive through rush hour traffic instead of leaving at 2:30 as I had originally planned. I'm salty.
I understand, but it's still an awful location to put a jail considering the revitalization of the area and the fact that it's an eyesore from the freeway. It does nothing for the development of the downtown area.
No, people going up north for Memorial Day weekend will fuck up traffic that bad. It is going to be in the 80s throughout the lower peninsula.
And Gilbert offer for the Jail site is ridiculous, it was like $50 mil for the jail, the courthouse, the current jail, and he wants Wayne County to demolish it all. Not only is that a low ball offer, then the county would have to build a new courthouse and jail somewhere else. And most cities have courthouses downtown, it has to be a place easily accessed by the population. They really need to upgrade Frank Murphy, trust me I know, but the cost of building a new courthouse and jail somewhere else is going to be crazy expensive, and I can't see the jail/courthouse being moved because of it
Gilbert is in negotiations to buy the Yahoo web division. He can buy just about anything he wants at this point
Yeah that was my point. He lowballed to see if the city was dumb enough to bite. Now we will find out if he's dumb enough to invest that much in an MLS team
I don't think that site is just about an MLS team, it's about expanding on the draw to Greektown, giving people another reason to come down there.
You guys are falling for Gilbert's trap, he made that lowball offer months ago. Instead of offering more, he released plans for the stadium on a site he doesn't own and didn't increase his offer, hoping the public would pressure the county into making an awful business decision. I am glad our county finally has at least somewhat competent people there now who aren't falling for it.
Bottom line, unless Gilbert pays enough to at least cover building a courthouse and jail somewhere else, it isn't going to happen, nor should it in my opinion
And what exactly do you propose the city do with the site that had tremendously fucked up budgeting and now has a half built jail on it?
