And he was on the broadcast when Salvy hit his homer. Loyal Royals fan has attended 1,000 straight home games By Mark Townsend 1 hour ago Big League Stew Your browser does not support iframes. Sports fans often pride themselves on being loyal to their favorite teams. Most of the time though, their friends and families know that loyalty was tested and probably even breached somewhere along the line. Hey, it happens. It's not a crime. Just don't brag too loud in front of those who know better. In the case of Chris Coats though, that loyalty is one-hundred percent real. The Kansas City Royals fan from Raytown, Miss. has never once considered changing allegiances, and that loyalty was celebrated in epic fashion on Friday. When the Royals beat the Tigers, 10-3, at Kauffman Stadium, it marked the 1,000th consecutive home game that Coats has attended, including postseason games. The streak started on May 25, 2004, when the Royals were still struggling to rebuild after nearly two decades of futility. It's continued through many personal trials and tribulations, including Coats battle with a brain tumor. And it's resulted in numerous celebrations, most notably the Royals ALCS clinching victory last October. [Join a Yahoo Daily Fantasy Baseball contest now] All things considered, that's a remarkable streak that goes well beyond the numbers. But the numbers are pretty cool too, and it seems they will continue climbing for the foreseeable future. "I just love Royals baseball, I love coming out to Kauffman Stadium," Coats told MLB.com. "Just the atmosphere, coming out to watch a ballgame -- no matter how good or bad they play, it was always fun to watch." Coats says that with such an appreciation that you wouldn't know he was once at odds with the Royals. Prior to the 2012 season, a miscommunication and procedural changes led to Coats actually losing his season tickets. The situation was eventually smoothed over, clearing a path for Coats to continue his streak. It's an interesting story. You can read much more over at Cut 4.
Do we have any Royals fans that are capable of creating photoshopped gifs? Would love to get one form the Hit em Up video made where Whit's head is on Tupac's body
Thank you for all you did in 2015, Chris Young. Now gtfo. I'm tired of spending my afternoons watching you throw BP.
He has been overwhelmingly quite poor but if he continues having games like today things will be looking up. Not gonna bank on that though
His fastball looks a lot different the last couple games than it did early. Nice late movement. Maybe he was just hurt.
Syndergaard scratched tonight and will pitch in tomorrow's game. The big question is, does Duffy buzz the tower when he steps to the plate?
Nothing. They're just gonna flip flop he and Colon so Thor can pitch on Monday when they play Washington.
http://www.royalsreview.com/2016/6/...obar-playing-his-way-out-of-next-years-lineup Pretty good article about Esky. From 2013-2016, there have been 266 hitters with at least 1,000 plate appearances. Alcides Escobar has hit .256/.286/.326 over that time, ranking 264th. The only hitters worse are Alexi Amarista (a utility player) and Mike Zunino (in the minor leagues). I know he's pretty awful at the plate but I didn't realize he was THAT bad. As bad as he's been I'm not sure we can trust Colon's glove as an everyday SS and we know Mondesi won't be ready, especially after the 50-game suspension he got this year. Throw Esky in the 9 hole next year (wishful thinking) and maybe Mondesi will be ready to take over in 2018.
Heard Gordo will be back this weekend. Whit Gordo Cain Hos Salvy Kendrys Eibner Cuthbert Esky Starting to resemble a decent line up again.
He's played all 3 spots but better suited for the corners. I think he's spent most of his time in right but I'm probably wrong. With Duffy in the rotation I think Moylan would be sent down. They'll probably want to keep Flynn.
He might I just don't like having only 2 non catchers on the bench but we've done that plenty of times.
when you're only getting 4-5 IP and anywhere between 1-6 home runs allowed per game from your rotation you need to carry a small bench
Fuck off Volquez. Do these starters even give a shit? Sick of watching them toss BP out there and showing no emotion at all.
he'll give up 5 this inning and then retire 11 or 12 straight because he wants to be a douche about it
