Colorado is a good sized rapidly growing market (someone told me the other day the state of Colorado is expected to double in population over the next 20-40 yrs).
If Texas isn't going to sign a new grant of rights with this expansion this is just a money grab before they leave. Fwiw

Personally I don't know why either Florida schools are even in this discussion but with all the other realignment moves nothing makes sense anymore. Big 12 should just stay as it is or add 2 teams, none of these schools are going to add anything to the conference so add as little to none of them as possible.
Add BYU because they're the biggest brand still left on the market. Add CFU to get into Florida and give WVU another East Coast team. Add Memphis for the FedEx money. I guess add Cincy to give WVU another presence and because they're the only real decent option left. Kick out Baylor and add Houston. Damn, that's terrible but whatever.
I think if we add Houston and don't sign an extended gor its a sign that the two of us are gone and we are helping create a stable conference for when we leave in a few years.
Yeah probably a move by the powers of this conference (UT, OU, KSU) for when we all go on to other conferences in a few years so all these small time losers have a home
Greg Abbott Verified account @GregAbbott_TX Big 12 expansion is a non-starter unless it includes University of Houston. @UHouston Dan Wolken Verified account @DanWolken Houston super booster Tilman Fertitta gave $150k to Greg Abbott's campaign for Texas governor in 2014. In case you were wondering.
According to Oklahoma talk radio, apparently the Big 12 may be getting interest from Pac-12 schools. And it's not just Arizona and Arizona State. The claim is third tier rights are worthless with Pac-12 contract. UCLA may be in play.
SMU AD Rick Hart and president Turner have expressed interest to Big 12: 'We feel that we belong and have assets no one else can offer'
Well shoot throw in Rice too and get the old sWc band back together (sans Arkansas and Texas A&M of course).
We tried this in the B1G but we didn't have road trips to Ames and Waco to sell them on, so it died out.
I think UH gets in if they promise Texas that they'll stop protesting us building the UT-Houston campus and shuts the fuck up forever about wanting a slice of the PUF. Basically its another 9 years ish of putting up with a retarded cousin (after which Texas and OU goes to B1G) for a lifetime of peace and quiet
Would be hilarious if Big 12 fell ass first into absorbing what we wanted from PAC 12. No fucking way that happens but it will on my ncaa 14 dynasty.
Before you ask why UCLA would consider leaving the comforts of the Pac-12 for the Big 12, remember this: Kansas State generated three times more Tier 3 revenue through K-StateHD.TV than UCLA received from the struggling Pac-12 Network.
