CIC money + PUF money + B1G network money + Nike money and Texas finally gets to rub shoulders with the public ivies of the world, also its mostly the same timezone.
I think the benefits of CIC are exaggerated, but I'd be happy to have someone prove me wrong. The PUF money is already there The ACC just got their network so the B1G network benefit is marginal. I'd put Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia Tech up there with the those guys, and you don't have to go to Minn, In, OH, PA, NJ, or WI in the winter.
this is factual. actually i believe we are the stanford of the east but thats just my opinion (because jardine and asian ties)
As we look at opportunities for Big 12 expansion, I support considering @UHouston for the conference. UH is a huge asset for Texas. UT President Greg Fenves
Welcome to the Big 12 U of H! The Big 12 has been needing a commuter school who will bring no new television sets for years
UT thinks they have some power here but the reality is nothing happens until the Kansas coalition signs off on it
to the flagship schools that thinks they've witnessed little brother syndrome before, you ain't seen SHIT yet compared to UH:Texas
I've been lurking on the AAC boards the past couple days. Their fans seem to think that UT/Tech/Baylor/TCU will block them because those schools are "jealous of their recent success".
Lol of course Bowlsby is trying to expand the Big 12. But adding Houston and BYU or whoever is just going to make the exit of OU happen even faster. And the second OU goes Texas is hauling ass to the Pac 12. Be interesting to see if the other teams stay to try and keep the Big 12 a viable league or if the whole thing crumbles.
I'm actually kind of shocked both Fenves and McRaven have publicly supported adding UH. Unless it's just to get another Texas school into the league because they think long term Texas is leaving the conference.
Bill McRaven @billmcraven Bill McRaven Retweeted Greg Fenves I agree wholeheartedly with Pres. Fenves. @UHouston would be a welcome addition to the Big XII!
I'm going to go out on a limb here, but if the B12 expands then that means Texas and OU will have committed themselves for the long term.
Either that or they are throwing UH a bone because UH got so pissed when UT system announced they wanted to open a campus in Houston
It means that either Texas has agreed to drop the LHN or they've decided to move forward with expansion knowing OU will be gone in the immediate future.
Back when NCAA let you do custom conferences, I once realigned all of CFB into a system that was 100% regional. There was a conference of all Texas schools, a conference of Cali, conference of Florida, conference of Ohio, the plains states were together, northeast all together, etc. Worked well so I pitch that.
Yeah I'm pretty sure someone mentioned in here about how ESPN will essentially pay for the big 12 to expand. This is a money grab. Not about future stability
Everyone here is what Ketchum thinks Ketchum said: ↑ I'm going to have more on this later tonight and I'm still chasing down a number of sources, but... Those I've spoken with in the last 48 hours believe that Texas won't have to block UH. There's a feeling that non-Texas schools, especially OU and OSU, would stop the UH train before it gets started. It's possible Texas is just taking heat off its own back with this endorsement.
The Memphis "Fed Ex money" thing should be thrown out the window by any decision makers in the Big 12. They tried to do the same shit to get into the Big East/AAC. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/footba...illions-to-buy-Memphis-a-bet?urn=ncaaf,247948 http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/story/16772861/fedex-a-major-player-in-u-of-ms-move-to-big-east Once Memphis actually got into the BCS conference though, Fed Ex literally did nothing to help the conference. It was all just empty promises. I would think that the Big 12 would see past that...
Yeah, for the president and chancellor to publically make the statement, it's almost too transparent that this is their strategy. Who knows what's going on? I do think getting the campus through without all the bitching is their main objective.
Texas PR of "You can't be mad at us when this thing goes south" is so hilariously disingenuous and fun every time they do it.
