would be super happy if winks started getting minutes over mason and carroll. seems to have been a good show from the younger guys. cool to see yedlin getting minutes.
One or both of Mason/Carroll are getting dealt/loaned before the window closes, it just has to happen. Have seen some rumors of Southampton coming in for Trippier, would mean Yedlin staying on if that were to materialize. Hopefully Walker can stay as healthy as he did last season but that is expecting a lot. Kyle Walker Peters is a top prospect for us at that position as well.
Poche said he expected signings, have to imagine one is Nkoudo -- been linked with a few CM/CAMs the past few days- Tieleman and Coric (FM 16 me just got excited) and Yunus Malli from Mainz (less exciting). I have no problem seeing Mason/Carroll/Bentaleb replaced with better players this year. I think having to play Mason and Carroll last year cost us some points
Eriksen has reportedly rejected the last contract offered to him but still wants to stay here for the long term. He is just posturing for more money. I can't blame him, he could get more elsewhere if he forced a move. I'd pay him what he wants within our wage structure. The fact that we are staying competitive without someone on over 100k a week is pretty damn impressive IMO. If we really want to contend with Europe's elite after moving into the new ground though then Levy will have to open up the chequebook a bit and start increasing the max wage.
I'm a sucker for toughness intensity and aggression, even if it's a little out of control at times. Lamela is my guy.
Complete turnaround from his first season with us in particular, where he seemed afraid to get stuck in and bossed off the ball way too easily. I'd way rather have someone that is too aggressive at times. I think he will be even better this season.
Lamela definitely needed time to adjust which was unsurprising but he's always been a quality player IMO.
You had a good season but not sure how you can take any positives from the Chelsea game, your team flatout embarrassed themselves as did Poch for being in charge of that.
because people view tottenham as pushovers, and to fight, it showed that the team can stand up for itself. he's the manager, how is he not going to say something like that? he's looking to motivate players and show that he trusts them. i get that it was extreme, and he even acknowledged that.
Much rather have a team with fire and fight and goes down swinging instead of a team that loses quietly and politely.
I don't disagree with any of that but a pretty big reason why Spurs really fell apart at the end was Alli and Moose being complete idiots in game Should have finished second with ease. Kind of embarrassing.
I don't really care about whether we finished second or third or fourth. It's all the same to me. Each spot comes with Champions League, which is all that really matters if you're not winning the league. Would anyone be celebrating about losing the World Series or Super Bowl? Does anyone really care about the end of season CFB rankings? You can take solace in having a good season, but bragging about your place in the table is something that people do to make themselves feel better about not winning it all. As for Arsenal finishing above us (which is what this is really all about), we outplayed them on the field and should have been able to get at least 4 points from them. Instead we drew twice. I'm much more annoyed by that than I am by finishing third.
Nothing wrong with the 2 draws against Arsenal. Look at the other results 2 draws v. Everton 2 draws v. West Brom 2 draws v. Liverpool (third consec. season we haven't got a win against them) 2 losses v. Newcastle Obviously only needed just 1 of those results to go the other way
None of the other teams are our rivals though. My point was that in the context of the rivalry, on-field results are much more important to me than how we place in the table relative to them.
Looks like we've managed to offload Fazio to Roma. Loan the first season but becomes permanent next summer.
Rumours that we've accepted a bid from Brighton for Pritchard, and he's set to discuss personal terms. Likely around 8M. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...r-spurs-midfielder-alex-pritchard-sky-sources
Expecting a bunch of business to be conducted now after returning from Australia. Namely - finalizing the N'Koudou/N'Jie swap that has been sitting on the plate like a bad pierogi for weeks.
Our 15 most important players according to ESPNFC. http://www.espnfc.co.uk/club/totten...e-list-of-tottenham-15-most-important-players Basically we don't lose with Mousa in central midfield, he can't get back from suspension soon enough. 3. Mousa Dembele With the Belgian starting, Spurs lost just once in 27 Premier League games last season -- an opening day defeat at Manchester United when Dembele played on the right wing. Without him, they lost five in nine. When free to roam from defensive midfield, he is a vital cog at both ends of the pitch.
Jan back in training already. Probably why Poch isn't too concerned with bringing in any reinforcements at CB after selling Fazio. Follow Tottenham HotspurVerified account@SpursOfficial @JanVertonghen is making good progress. He joined the group for part of the session & has his own programme.
Latest transfer rumor has us making a bid for Rafa Silva from Braga. Plays primarily as an inverted winger, right footed on the left side. He could play centrally as well. Has to mean Chadli is gone if we actually go in for him. Might be more prepared to contribute right away than N'Koudou (if we ever complete that deal). Seems to be a pacey lad, very quick feet. He's a bit on the lightweight side but his evenly distributed facial hair is a plus.
We're reportedly interested in singing 21 year old GK Pau Lopez from Espanyol as well, as one for the future obviously.
Eh I don't really buy this. It's not like celebrating losing the world series or the super bowl at all. There is no playoff, there are no elimination games, everyone plays the same teams so it absolutely is important where you finish. Celebrating finishing top 4 but saying it doesn't matter between 2nd and 3rd is pretty silly. To say not finishing above arsenal is inconsequential is to completely miss on tottenham fandom.
I have no idea who your college team is, but would you really brag about finishing above your rival in the conference standings if they had beaten you on the field?
#THFC team: Vorm, Walker, Alderweireld, Carter-Vickers, Rose; Dier, Mason; Lamela, Eriksen, Alli; Kane (C). #COYS Nearly complete starting XI.

Lamela has been awesome this preseason, he is poised to breakout in a big way this year IMO. That goal today and his work in creating a few others was top drawer.
Started from a Gomes now we here. Rumors that we've reopened negotiations with him regarding improved terms and an extension. Not having to worry about GK for this long has been a real relief, long may it continue.
