I never said we were, but we have changed a lot since 2000 and we spend a lot more money than you think we do.
Les Miles loves Michigan more than anything. If Harbaugh tells him to open up, you better believe he's listening.
Think this might be start of the end honestly.Take a peak at ESPN. We're playing checkers and in no way am I referencing on the field football performance.
Jack's legacy is on the line too. He'll want one more big bite at the apple before he's done. Being defined by Kelly's tenure would not be a good look.
What if I told you there is a well traveled football coach with super bowl rings that could give ND a decided schematic advantage? Is that something you might be interested in?
Brian, thanks for wasting 5 drives (in a 7 point loss) on a QB every person knew would never garner us a point. That was intelligent.
It's honestly absurd 7 years into Kellys tenure he finally gets the QB that is a perfect fit, and he refuses to play him unless he's perfect.
I was "give him another year" for a few weeks. Thats done now. The defense is incredibly improved (no surprise given they can read and react now instead of just think about absurd zone blitzes the whole fucking time). And yet we still lose games on absolutely terrible decisions. Our program is in a downward spiral and there's no chance Kellys corrects it. Next.
Decision making is behind the majority of our losses, not the talent/youth of the players. Kelly should be gone. I think that at this point most of us are realistic about the state of the program, and still it should be obvious that BK has been sabotaging our team this year with a combination of misplaced ego/power plays.
How do you not play Zaire last week when the conditions were pretty much dictating that you use a running qb (and go 5 wide in the fucking red zone) and then turn around and decide to play him against a team that can't defend the pass just to piss off your best player? This is completely absurd, he lost his goddamn mind. Pressure is eating him up. I woke up thinking that it would not surprise me if the big news this morning was"Brian Kelly suffers a heart attack"
With Kelly it's the same pattern over and over. It's mind bottling:) He just doesn't realize that his best bet is to be simple on offense and defense. This season was already over before it started because of bvg and his ridiculous scheme. Kelly doubled him down by doing the same shit he does every time he gets a qb with a bit of experience. Why can't he realize that what works in college is what he does when he tries to protect his young qb? First year Golson, Rees and now kizer are always better than second year golson , Rees and kizer. How do you manage that?
True fucking story !!! I preached to ND fans that there was a leadership problem at ND but they refused to listen. ND sold its soul and compromised 100 years of standards for nothing
I've resigned myself to the fact that Kelly is done here. That said, complaining about putting in Zaire when EVERYONE was clamoring for him just last week seems strange. Also, lol at Michigan fans in here puffing their chest. Always with the little brother stuff.
I can't think of a single sense in which we are your "little brother". Not even a good try. I'll forgive you though because you're in so much pain.
I don't hate that he tried Zaire (he got one series too many), but it magnifies the ridiculousness of last week. Either way, we're past debating this kind of stuff. Inability to stabilize the QB position and refusal to rely on the run aren't exactly new things with this coach. I would hope losing a fourth season to those particular failures would be enough to bring about a change but I guess we'll see after thanksgiving.
Little brother is over the top but don't act like you guys have been harbaugh good forever. If anything i thank michigan for getting their head out of their ass and showing that it is perfectly alright to cut ties with what isn't working and pay what it takes to get the right guy. I wish nd would follow suit but history is not on the right side of that.
BK post game press conference was entertaining. At 9:00, he gets asked what was the momentum shifting moment. He answers by asking other reports to answer..."are you kidding me"...followed by a start and a thank you. Haha http://watchnd.tv/#!/videos/lhZm9yNjE6D6QN06-TalB1nXc_6xYiss
Alabama is the only team who has truly gone out and muscled their way into an elite coach (and they went after rich rod first). I'll give Michigan credit for making the obvious move, but harbaugh completely fell into their lap. Same with Meyer and Ohio State. It would be pretty sweet if there was an undoubtedly elite college coach with ties to ND who didn't have a job in December, but unless Meyer's heart problems flare back up we're going to have to go the Alabama route or roll the dice.
Unfortunately, we'll either keep Kelly or roll the dice again. We're not gonna offer someone fuck you money to hire a (somewhat) sure thing.
Honestly, is there even anyone out there to offer an absurd amount of money to that would even consider it? We're resigned to rolling the dice. That is our program now.
Who is a sure thing? Do you mean offer Meyer or Saban 12 mill a year to leave or is there another sure thing out there?
I'm ready for fleck. I don't see anyone we can realistically get that is hungrier to prove himself. If it doesn't work with a young coach like that it's seemingly easier to cut ties. Plus i've heard it put that when your coach fails you usually hire the opposite style (off vs def, players coach vs disciplinarian). Fleck would be outside of the box but i don't see how he is any worse than what nd has been hiring or what is realistically attainable. Plus his "row the boat" resonates better with young people than kelly's "unconcious incompetence"
There is none, really. And even if there was, there's no chance they'd accept. As someone mentioned earlier, we don't have a Harbaugh to luck into.
Not a great year for a new coach, the candidates are pretty limited and lsu, usc and Texas might all be open. Also Nd has to go against michigan(our little brother) and osu for recruits. Tough job right now, they both hit a home run and we are stuck with a lame duck or a roll the dice guy.
I can't Decide where he falls on the crapshoot-sure thing spectrum, but if the university was committed to making it happen I think stoops would be attainable.
Is he really much better than Kelly? Stoops has been pretty ordinary except for last year...like kelly
USC would have to totally reverse course for Helton to get fired. They look pretty decent and will likely finish the year with consecutive wins against their top two rivals. Texas seems to be committed to firing strong but they have six very winnable games left. Even LSU hiring coach O doesn't seem to be completely out of the question. I don't think this is going to be the crazy offseason everyone was talking about two weeks ago.
I feel like stoops is risky in 2 ways. 1. He is an aging coach that has already proven it at this point. Will he have the energy and desire that it takes to move the needle in south bend? 2. If a proven successful coach fizzles out (no matter the reason) it feeds into the narrative that you can't win at nd. I'd like allaboutthecash to weigh in on what route the nd administration should go.
I would love for some Oklahoma fans to comment...not sure stoops is very good at this point Futuresanctions
It just seems like every move Kelly makes is a week late. We needed a running QB last week? Ok, play him this week. The sad thing is the defense is better and the offense can't move the ball. This is pretty much the ND way. Peanut butter, no jelly. Ham, no burger.
