It probably would have ended very badly too but I really wish Shalala had hired Leach instead of that lunchbox Randy Shannon when Leach was basically begging for the job.
would be awesome. whichever school hires him...can't imagine being a graduate. i'd have to give up my degree.
There's something heroic about having the literal best offense and worst defense in the game! We're like the kamikaze pilots of CFB.
leach is a very good coach, saying otherwise would put you in the minority of people that watch football now can he handle a staff? not really can he hire good coordinators? not really is he weird as fuck? yes, but its funny and entertaining
I know he's a lawyer and he went to good law school but how the fuck any lawyer gonna think Sandra day o Connor is the best?
I'm reading this book right now: And it has been awesome. Leach is a fascinating dude. When Mumme hired him at Iowa Wesleyan, he had to veto the entire administration because Leach made such an awful impression at their first meet and greet by not talking about football whatsoever.
I just read that when Hal Mumme applied for the Valdosta State job, Mike Leach sent them a "video resume" (their 48 touchdown passes from the year prior set to John Mellencamp's "Small Town") completely unbeknownst to Mumme.
It seems odd to me that Mumme didn't have more success than Leach outside of his years at Kentucky. Did Leach contribute just as much to building the offense or is Mumme considered the creator of it?
The author explains why it as kind of a Lee/Jackson relationship. I think Mumme was a pretty awful administrator and Leach helped him keep it together. Mumme has also had some major health problems.
I was so bummed when that book ended at like the 73% mark...I was anticipating a delve into Leach's career
He's pretty funny on the radio. The local sports guys here give him the stock questions about how his team is doing and whatnot and he'll basically just be like "yeah we're doing good, getting better" and then start telling some 10 minute story that may or may not make any sense. They can't cut him off really because he never stops talking and never gets to the point.
