It was Maggie. Glenn starts screaming"no, take me, take me" and begins to move when someone hits him from behind and knocks him out. Then Negan hits Maggie and does the whole "taking it like a champ" thing.
If we’re supposed to get a thrill out of watching a dude beat two other dudes to death (including loving close-ups of the gore), how are we then supposed to mourn either character when the inevitable, score-heavy grieving montage arrives? If we take any of this seriously, it’s a slow slog to hell without any of the insight or catharsis that would make the trek worthwhile. And if we take it as a lark, than the endless fucking shots of Andrew Lincoln looking scared out of his mind aren’t even goofy enough to be worth snickering at. The show is so stupid that it thinks we’re stupid, prays we’re stupid; cross its fingers and hopes like hell that its legion of loyal, obsessive followers will rend their garments at the horrible demise of a fan favorite, but still be back next week for another round of spin the murder bottle.
people will bitch just to bitch nobody makes you watch this show, if all you're going to do is complain then stop watching the damn thing
I was honestly shocked (and pleased) they actually went through with it. Pulling the exact image from the comic was a bonus.
We can watch a show and complain but still be entertained. This show wants to be compared to shows like Game of Thrones so it is going to be criticized. Some of the acting and writing can be horrible but the gore and makeup is the best of any show in TV.
Only issue I had with the episode was when Negan tosses the ax outside and makes Rick fetch, the ax makes it up on top of the RV without ever seeing Rick grab it. I assume that was just a bad editing choice. Then when Negan lets him back in, he completely turns his back on Rick, and Rick shows after that he still isn't fully broken. If he's not broken at that point then he puts that ax in the back of Negan's head.
I was really wondering what that was all about. I was really curious as to how Rick didn't try to put that hatchet in the back of his head at that moment.
We don't watch this show anymore because it got pretty boring to us but I watched the scene because of all the hubbub. Glad I still don't watch. It was really pretty terrible and gross and just too much. And I don't usually mind some violence but fucuuuuck man. Brutal.
I love seeing people complain about the violence and gore, that's exactly what last night was supposed to do. It's so fucking demented and fucked up that it sends home the fact that Negan and his crew are nothing to fuck with and Rick is no longer in control of shit. He needed to come across more threatening and menacing than any other person they've faced. That's why he has an army as strong and big as it is. I'm sure the show will mellow a little until the next major event happens. There is a lot to set up. I'm sure they'll calm shit down and let the emotions show then move forward to a big event near the middle of the season.
Exactly. Negan has the upper hand on Rick in all possible aspects and just has to get Rick to realize he's not only beaten, but no longer in any form of control.
I read this earlier today and decided not to post because it was so ridiculous. The first episode worth a shit in forever and now they're quitting?
What an episode I really have no idea how rick is going to overcome this one, and I look forward to finding out how he does it Now they better not go 5 episodes of nothing
Are people only pissed about the violence because it's on AMC? If this were on HBO would this be an issue? There have been so many reasons to quit watching this show before but last night's episode wasn't one of them.
I didn't think the episode was too violent. I actually think there was too much useless filler and it was drawn out. Could have been cut down to 15 minutes and we wouldn't have missed anything important. And I've seen people complaining about the hatchet getting on the roof... was pretty clear to me but here's a gif of it...
Noticed the guy taking a Polaroid of Glenn's smashed up head. Like all those polaroids they found in that hideout
It was even Glenn who found the photos. It's amazing to me how they absolutely nail some of the little details and then completely miss the mark on huge things.
The predictable nature of them devoting this episode to Morgan and Carol is one of the lamest aspects of this show.
That episode could have been done in easily under 15 minutes. A bunch of filler BS that doesn't advance the story any at all. Carol was annoying as shit, I wish she had gotten killed.
There are more filler episodes than filler issues of the comics, and we basically went what seemed like well over a year without any major antagonist in the comics.
Seriously. Her journey or whatever you'd like to call it on the show has been awful. Battered wife to badass to emo cunt. I am glad they let Ezekiel be himself in his first episode though. Being all "kingly" and stuff for too long would have been really annoying to deal with. Admitting that he was just a zookeeper with community theater experience helped make him much more likable.
They made it look like Daryl was going to cave after Dwight gave him the polaroid of Glenn's head mush and swapped out the "Easy Street" song for "Crying" by Roy Orbison. Dwight brings Daryl to Negan and Negan gives him his choices and Daryl was like, "I'm Daryl." And Negan was like... "Whoa! OK." And that was pretty much it.
