I am. It I said before I liked him there. I would have preferred Watson. But if we get a guard in second, I'll be happy.
Cook's going to fall into the second round. Definitely would have rather had a defensive player and Cook in the second. Still, team fuck it, LF is going to be a beast.
Luck Mariota Watson Bortles. This franchise is determined to stay shitty and is too stubborn to admit their mistake. We wasted last year with Gus and we'll waste this year with a god awful QB. Fuck them, and yes I'm still mad.
Pretty strong draft for guards. Albert needs to quit being a faggot and lol at what his face at RT, but Jags should be able to get Lamp and then another guard/swing tackle assuming they want two. I don't see shit at tackle, though, if that's what you were talking about.
My point is I don't like drafting a RB in the top 5 and then trying to fix the OL. If you draft a RB in the top 5, you should already have the OL in place to take full advantage of that top 5 RB pick. The Cowboys did it right. The Jags, as usual, are going about it ass backwards.
I fully admit my opinion could be a little skewed. Bama dominated LSU's OL the last 2 years and LF didn't do dick in either game bc of it. Sadly I see that happening a lot for him with the Jags.
It's weak at the top but there's good prospects to be had in rds 2-4. Cam Robinson and/or Forrest Lamp should be there at 35.
No, you're exactly right, but at this point you can't really go with that line of thought. The Jags have LF, now try and figure out how to surround him with an OL. The guards are still on the board. I would never draft a RB in the first round unless it's a luxury pick.
Bama and most D knew LSU couldn't throw the ball. 8-9 man boxes were all LF saw his entire career at LSU. I still think you can get the best OG available and he could have a solid rookie season.
No RB has done dick against Bama the last 2 years though (unless I'm completely forgetting someone). I think that was mostly due to Bama having 11 starters carrying a 1st/2nd rd grade. Fournette is a great prospect and you should be able to improve your interior OL tonight. Lamp is legit.
And I'm not saying Fournette was the right pick at 4 (it wasn't), but it's not like you pulled a Bears to get him. You have a good player and have the picks and players on the board to still address the rest of your needs.
Blake had a shitty year last year, but really? Watson over him when he hasn't taken a snap in the NFL and was turnover prone even though he had more talent on offense than most teams he faced? Don't forget Luck seemed to regress quite a bit when his o line wasn't blocking for him. Unless Jacksonville addresses their line at some point it won't matter who's playing QB
Well, that's kinda my point. We could have drafted Gale Sayers last night and I still would have hated the pick. Picking a RB and then addressing the OL is just dumb. There's no other way to put it. It doesn't matter if it's due to the D being great or the OL being ass, if the OL is getting dominated, the RB isn't going to be able to do much. It's a waste of a pick to take a RB in the top 5 when you don't have the OL in place to take advantage of it.
We all know that the only way this team will be successful if Bortles pulls his shit together. If he doesn't we will suck again. Hence, why I wanted Watson. Fournette is a beast. This draft sucks for tackles but there are some nice guards available. Outside of drafting a QB, getting Bortles a strong RB and upgrading the oline is the best means of moving this team forward. The defense is stout already. If we come out of the draft with the best RB, one of the best guards and a nice CB or dlineman, I will think its a strong draft. My biggest peeve is that, every year, some team fleeces another team so the second team can move up. It's never the fucking Jaguars. Just once I want to see us move back and pick up an extra second or third rounder. Just once.
Adams, Watson, or Allen depending on what the Dr's said about his shoulder. But that secondary could have been filthy with Adams. Like Seahawks from a few years ago filthy. In a passing league, that would make me happy.
I think its safe to say most doctors did not care for Allen's shoulders. In regard to Adams, I really like him but am glad we went offense.
Difference being that we know Blake sucks. Watson may turn out great, but the Texans aren't hoping their QB turns it around. Instead, they admitted their mistake and rectified it. Conversely, the jags FO thinks they're smarter than everyone else. We stuck with Gus even though we knew he was shit and now we're sticking with Blake when we know he's shit. That's two lost seasons, when we have a defense that's playing well. Obviously, I hope I eat my words, but this franchise hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt.
I was all aboard the Watson train. Let him have a redshirt year while Blake plays out his final season before free agency. The WR's contractually are locked down except Lee so he would still have weapons in 2018. Draft Cook or Mixon to give him a back.
You're cool with them taking RB in round 1 and addressing OL in round 2 but not RB in round 2 and OL in 3, 4, 5, 6... That makes no sense.
I would want a sure fire starter on the interior OL. I think there is going to be a run on them in the 2nd round. And if I had any faith in them drafting a good ol in those later rounds, Cann would be a starter.
Fine. Adams + Lamp > LF + Lamp I'd rather have Adams and our current RB's than LF. Adams is plug and play, doesn't require another unit to be upgraded bc I have no faith in them being able to actually upgrade the OL.
I think we are focusing on two different points. I 100% agree with you that LF wasn't the pick at 4 last night. No argument here. But they drafted him last night. He's your franchise back. So what are you wanting them to do now?
This is why I hated them keeping Marrone. They needed a clean split from everyone and everything around Gustav.
Guess I just disagree with y'all. Outside of Bortles (which is a big deal of course), this roster has gotten much stronger. I like teh combo of Marrone and Coughlin and eager to see what they do. We needed an upgrade at RB far more than we needed an upgrade at safety.
I shouldn't have said I hated keeping Marrone. I think I hated it for Jags fans that I know because they wanted the splash hire; whether that was possible or not, I don't know. I was ok with Marrone, but I just thought the franchise and fanbase was so distraught a fresh new group would've been best. I think Tom will get this ship headed in the right direction. I think the D is fairly loaded. I don't think a S was the pick, but another pass rusher would've been best IMO. It sucks there wasn't a freak OT in this class.
Adams would have been a confusing pick. They need to address CB, DE and OL now. Just got to hope that if bortles sucks again that he sucks enough that we have a top three pick. It just continues to suck that this FO is reactive instead of proactive.
You're a massive homer though. They could have drafted me and you'd be spinning how it made sense. I appreciate your fandom though.
Not at all. Outside of QB and oline, where is this team really weak? If we can draft a nice plug and play guard and get something out of McCann (which may be a big if), we've made this offense about as strong as we can sans drafting a QB. Our oline was not good last year but we also had shit at RB.
Agree on TE. Poz, Jack and Smith are a really nice LB corps. Think we'll draft someone in 4th or 5th for depth but not a high pick. That group is not weak. Thin but that can still be addressed. DE. Ngokue (spelling?) played well last year. We have a high pick invested in Fowler so we need to give him another year. And Campbell was a nice pickup at DE. I would not call that group weak.
Poz just got kicked to OLB where I don't see him being a fit. Smith is legit but we've seen nothing out of Jack. Nothing but late hits from Fowler. YN is a 3rd down player only. Campbell is a good DE.
