I think it's tight there's so much discussion of his music as albums. You see that in rock but not as much in hip hop, well at least not as much these days. Mixtapes, focus on singles, remixes, artists not lasting too long etc makes it harder to have nerd discussions like we're having. Which I've always loved as a rock fan
Mine is: 1. MBDTF 2. TCD 3. LR 4. 808s 5. TLOP 6. Graduation 7. Yeezus WTT isn't a solo album so I'm not ranking it. It'd be near the bottom, though.
Chance has em ranked this way, IMO, because those two albums hit right in his formative years as an artist. If he views Kanye as his main inspiration then those albums would be what really changed things for Chance. TCDO was a great album but LR had so many different sounds--it was so eclectic. For me, though, it's MBDTF and then the rest.
Me and a friend a couple years younger had this discussion one time and determined that for a given artist, whichever album was the one you heard first when you were really getting into them will always be considered GOAT
false. i was a fan of kanye from his beginnings as an in house producer at roc-a-fella and have bought every album of his the day they were released. i don't have the college dropout as his best album.
Same. CD has too many skits for my taste MBDTF is a literal fucking classic with no filler. Totally seamless
Yeah MBDTF is my fav too. This discussion involved angsty rock bands latched onto in formative years fwiw so idk if it's exactly the same
I will not rescind your like but I thought you meant when artists hear things from their inspirations.
i do get your point and i'm sure its the case for many people regardless of music, tbh. people will always have a soft spot for the music of their adolescence.
I'd swap 1 and 2 and 4 and 5. I'm just more of a fan of the soulsy sound of the first two albums but MBDTF is still a classic
Exactly, and it's crazy that 808s is at the bottom. Was listening to Joe Budden's podcast and he talked about how 808s has bread so many artists and so much current music. Half of the R&B stuff out wouldn't be of it weren't for 808s
Lmao yes Shit was my anthem through every football workout growing up. I learned to play shut up on the trumpet
Fun fact: Ichiro's walk-up song was Take It To The House when he was a Mariner. That was like 10 years worth of Trick.

The swole isn't even throwing me off as much as those cheap dirty clothes...Kanye looking like somebody's uncle that just got off work?
His clothing line is literally based on shit looking clothes and selling them for way to much money, this is no surprise.
