It's TV but really love Phillip, Elizabeth, and Stan and can't see a way it ends up well for all of them. Please find a way for me to be happy with the ending.
I see a situation where Stan has a chance to take them out but their kids are around them and he lets them flee to Russia.
He is a cohost on The Wine Show on channel 5 in the UK and really personable. Seems like a good dude. Does a good job transforming that welsh accent.
Liked the start and seeing Oleg with Philip. Amazing how after being out for a few years he sees the chalk on the Post Office box and immediately reacts.
It didn't hit me for a while after Oleg was told to go see Philip that they both know Stan. That will probably be interesting.
it was 87 in the episode I believe, cant remember what year it was when last season ended (84 or 85?)
Supposed to be a 3 year jump. I only knew that from reading a couple preview articles though, not from just knowing the years on the show.
I’m about halfway through the episode. I keep feeling like I’m missing an entire season or something. Everyone has kids, Paige is in college. Wtf is happening.
I really enjoyed the episode. It just seems like a show this good could’ve tied the seasons in a little better.
The time jump combined with Paige still being seemingly so fresh at this is not going well in my brain. It's been 3 years, she's in her 2nd or 3rd year of college and in a single episode she goes from asking her mom if Soviet spies use sex for information to helping on THAT assignment? Stealing military tech through a compromised general? And this after she fucked up in the previous episode resulting in her mom having to kill someone. And when things went sideways tonight she threw protocol out the window and sprinted to the gunfire yelling to see if her mom was OK like a little girl. I guess if all of her training has just been watching Soviet propaganda TV shows and listening to music it makes sense but it's been a pretty disappointing plot point to me.
Paige isn’t supposed to be some Elizabeth-type spy. She is much more valuable to the Russians as a citizen/college student and as a future employee of somewhere like the State Department. I don’t think she was meant to spend the last 3 years going through the same training Phillip and Elizabeth did. The Russians want her as safe as possible so they can have someone “in” somewhere she can personally get whatever info they need.
Am I gonna be the first to mention Paige being a full blown hottie at this point, why not. Don't like the whole Phillip destroying his business or Elizabeth being broken, setting us up for disappointment.
I kinda like the fact that after everything Phillip has done in his life, it is his embracing of capitalism that is crushing his soul.
Feel like the writers are trying to make us hate Elizabeth with the contrasting in styles between her and Phillip. Also yeah Paige has blossomed.
Elizabeth trying to steal the radiation detector reminded me of sneaking around on Facility with the silencer in GoldenEye Hey I heard something let's go check it ou... *pshew pshew*
I thought that scene was incredibly well done. It reminded me of the scene from last year’s premiere where they spent almost an entire segment in silence digging that grave for the dude that got poisoned. Great storytelling without dialogue.
Elizabeth is ruthless. My wife hopes she dies a brutal death by the end of the show. Can’t say I blame her. Really good episode.
Feel like Paige is shown to be a smart girl, and how she is accepting what Granny and Elizabeth keep telling her doesnt click as "hold the fuck up what are you talking about?" Also, Philip banging Kimmy and then dropping her was old school Philip, but you could tell he no longer wanted to be that guy.
Really thought Elizabeth might kill that kid. Philip getting involved and letting Paige know she's not Jason Bourne just because she beat up on a couple drunk idiots was good.
^^ Good point on Paige. I think she felt her dad wasn't like her mom at all or as ruthless yet he showed her don't judge a book by its cover. She thought she was going to whoop his ass and he showed her she aint shit yet. Also, I think he wanted to see how good she was and he now knows she isn't remotely ready to be in certain situations she might be put in. He was a lot harder on her in that training than what Elizabeth puts her through.
I wonder if this ends win Phillip defecting and trying to bring the kids w him. Or going into witness protection or whatever would have to happen to stay in the US.
