Pam was great until she sabotaged Jim's chance at a better career while getting close to the camera guy
I was thinking about this the other day...what’s the point where the show starts to drop off for you? I mean there’s moments or episodes of funny all the way till the end, but it’s not the same as like seasons 2 and 3. So where’s the beginning of the end in your mind? When Michael leaves? When Jim & Pam have their baby? When Jim & Pam start dating or get married? The beginning of Robert California? Sabre taking over? To me it’s definitely Jim & Pam having a baby. The wedding episode sucked (they include little to none of their family yet have all their co-workers walk/dance down the aisle like 5 times each) but once they have their kid the show really starts to decline. They both become insufferable and seem like awful parents. From that moment on, they become awful characters and it brings the show down.
Season 5 is the last great season for me. I think the turning point for me is the whole Sabre thing, so the first half of 6 was good but that’s where I think it fell off. Like you said, there were funny moments and episodes the rest of the series but they were fewer. Season 9 is just a train wreck. Add in Andy’s weird thing where he leaves to go sailing or whatever. Whole season is just hard to watch.
This is a good take. And it was so weird what they did with Andy. He’s like a goofball throughout the show and then becomes a total jackass like overnight.
This is it for me. Just recently watched for the first time and he was one of my favorite characters. Killing Andy's character in season 9 didn't help either.
Him and Jim were part time because of movies they were working on, but what they did to Andy was criminal.
Oh, disagree there. The Andy/Erin stuff that emerged from that was really bad, but actual Tallahassee trip scenes and stories were really good.
Went back and watched through the later seasons recently and season 7 was a lot funnier than I remembered
I couldn’t stand holly for a long time. She’s still low on my list, but watching the Wire made warm up a little to her.
i hated robert on my first run when watching it as it aired. set back and committed to rewatching everything last year (instead of the usual jumping around with the michael episodes) loved him. great character
the downhill slide began when Sabre happened IMO. Robert California was a highlight after that, but by that time the show had lost its fastball.
robert telling andy under no circumstances to hire his wife and then constantly pressuring him to do so was great television
You know who was completely unqualified to be regional manager, but was supposedly a serious candidate? Darryl.
Wasn’t he the foreman for like 15 years? I’d say he was qualified enough. Not much responsibility for a branch manager, they mainly just followed orders for corporate
wow, racist much? He led an organized team, got shipments out on time, and was qualified to use the bailer. Just as good as Michael, really.
lol at acting like anyone is under-qualified to run Dunder Miffflin Scranton. Did you even watch the show?
Considering it appeared that Michael Scott rarely ever did any sales as the branch manager (or really any work to be honest), Darryl was more than qualified.
Guys, Darryl coordinated and implemented receipt, storage and delivery of over 2.5 billion units of paper material. I think he's qualified.
darryl was just a really bad interviewer. he was easily the most qualified person in that office. he was respected by the office and a tough but fair boss to the warehouse guys.
