I'm trying to avoid that, because I want her family to be able to reach us at night, but I want to be able to get through during the day when I know she isn't at the office. I saw an IFTTT program do do this with a text, but that isn't working reliably
You can allow family to pass through the do not disturb. When I am on call I leave my phone on do not disturb but allow all phonecalls through, that was I'll get calls but won't get woken up by the million app notifications or texts

google fi is great I don't think I've ever hit $45 for my line though so will probably just stick with the flexible one. need to read the details to see if that unlimited data includes international
Thinking about a chromebook. My old MacBook Air’s battery is shit now and the screws stripped when I tried to open it up and replace it. I use google drive for work 99% of the time so a chromebook seems the best way to use the suite on the go. Thinking about a Samsung or pixelbook. Thoughts on making the switch?
Isn't the Pixelbook close to a 1000? In that case, my go to would be a Surface. Otherwise my students use both the Asus Chromebook Flip and Samsung at different schools. I really enjoy the Flip. The Samsung is a bit too cheap for my liking.
Have always loved my Spros. I have had the 3, 4, and 2017. You can get a good deal on the 6 or get the 7 which is coming out sometime soonish. Love my 2017 and the 6 is only better.
Go to best buy and demo whatever they have recommended here - https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-chromebook/
What's the best site to sell used phone? Switching to iPhone and Verizon and want to sell my pixel 3. Thoughts?
swappa has people who care instead of craiglist deal hunters, scammers, etc. you might be able to get a fair amount via trade in at VZW, but I would compare sale prices on Swappa. They might charge $20 total, I forget exact cost. I've sold 2 or 3 phones on there.
Wife's phone died so I ordered her a 3a xl. On verizon, can I just swap the sim, or do I need to pay an activation fee?
Anybody getting the Pixel 4/4XL? My 2 XL is still pretty strong but it's 2 years old and I just want something new and shiny.
Planning on getting a 4XL tomorrow. They will Likely give me $350 for my 3XL. Have been doing this with every Pixel release.
I told myself this year I wasn't going to reflexively upgrade to the Pixel XL 4 and now I read its going to have a freaking radar chip in it for air gestures and can call 911 by itself if it detects a crash, lol
I was planning on upgrading this year but I've made some pretty big purchases this year and my P2XL is still going strong so I think I'll at least wait until Black Friday to decide.
I'll upgrade to the 4XL at some point in the near future for sure. However I'm a phone snob and upgrade or buy a new phone once a year every year.
My Pixel XL goes into a boot loop if I restart it these days, so will definitely be getting the 4XL. Gonna try to wait till some nice deal comes along though.
9to5google has had coverage of that, but they will be revealed tomorrow at 9am central. live stream on youtube/twitter/etc. I'm interested in the P4XL IF they have significant software improvements (not leaked, other than some photography improvements) because the hardware (extensively leaked) hasn't really been of interest to me. I far prefer fingerprint to face unlock, soli looks rather unfunctional, and specs aren't that remarkable for late 2019 - other than 90hz display. I will have to see what: 1) trade in values are. I have a surplus phone (either 2XL or 3XL) that I should trade in. 2) what they include at launch (such as a Google Home Mini) as last year they marked the phone down like $150-200 only ~6 weeks after launch for Black Friday.
Yeah I'm not sure if I'm jumping on the 4XL yet. My 3XL is fine for now. I'm with you about the facial recognition smh not a fan at all. Really I'm hoping they upgraded the Pixel Buds because the first gen aren't very good.
edit: also on my wish list for for a couple cell side improvements: VoLTE (Simultaneous voice+data) on Sprint > expected this year 5g support with Sprint > not expected this year, even though I live in 5g market and only minutes from the actual towers.
buying via Google Fi comes w/ $100 plan credit. buying via Google Store comes w/ $100 store credit for use on subsequent transcation - Pre-order/Buy Pixel 4/4 XL and get $100 to spend on Google Store. Offer valid through October 26, 2019 at 11:59pm PT
My Pixel 2XL is 2 years old and has zero issues, works great. It actually works so good still I'm having trouble justifying getting the 4.
Pixels carry: Official manufacturer's warranty is 1 year (standard for electronics industry), software updates for 3 years, and security updates for 3 years. They will slow down like all devices that get OS updates and get used daily. My Pixel 2XL works fine.
Building a new house. Far down the list of pros/cons was that one is a more custom builder that will allow us to buy anything we want and they'll install it. The other builder was more cookie cutter and you could do their tech package but it came with the brands they picked. I'm looking forward to building having all Google products from doorbell to cameras to hub etc etc etc.
