need to get a new phone before november so i'll take that i guess. fear pixel 5 will get pushed out too.
since i have the dreaded sensor issue on my 3, i'm not sure if i want to get the 4a and wait until next year to get the 6, or wait to get the 5 whenever it comes out. but, i'll probably get the 4a considering it's only gonna be $350 or $400. i don't really care about getting the latest and greatest, anyways.
I might consider the 4a since my 4's glass back is falling off, prob due to battery thermal expansion.
I wasn't impressed with the 4 at its release so I'm still running with the 3. I really need a new phone.
Surely the projections that the P5 has neither an XL version, nor use a premium processor are wrong. In fact, I think I read that the P5 might be using the exact same processor as the 4a...
I'm a little pissed. My old phone finally crapped out, so I had to do something. Took over my wife's 3a and got her a 3a XL. Everything is fine, just frustrated b/c we were holding out for the 4a. All that said, has anyone had a screen replacement done on a 3a at IFIXIT or whatever it's called? Mine has a small break that occasionally leads to typing problems. Just curious. I'm happy to spend the $$, just wondered.
My dad is very rough on phones, which is why we put him on the 3aXL. He had the screen replaced by one of those places, but sadly, I've never asked him if he noticed a difference or loss in quality/etc. I believe there is an official repair partner for Google phones, so I would look that up. I've never used them before.
I think it's them (which is why I asked). A local place that's good recently affiliated with them. Thanks.
My theory? Google going back to mid-range phones a la Nexus, and leaning on Samsung to offer pure ish Android to fill void.
Google has carried the banner on advancing high end smartphone photography. Ending that (by taking the gas off the pedal with the Pixels) would be terrible for the whole ecosystem.
If you're right ramszoolander , I guess I need to set an alert for "Galaxy S30 Ultra Google Play Store Edition"
Yeah I have a 7 pro and it's great. It's the closest thing to pure Android you can get outside of the Pixel
I have a one plus 7t Pro Mclaren edition. Its a great phone, Ive never had any issues with it. As stinky said its the closest Ive ever had to pure android other than owning a nexus/pixel which is my preference. Now I would certainly recommend the brand now that I've used one of their phones.
I guess with a few week shipping delay, we'll be able to see some reviews and maybe a comparison with the nord if that becomes available here.
Kopped one...might keep it, might let the best friend give it a test drive I like having a backup phone just in case and my current is a Pixel 2XL (which is still humming along)
I didn't say it was a good strategy. I think you could argue that their whole pixel strategy has been unbelievably bad.
LG V30 broke (thanks to the annoying glass backs they all come with now) and insurance said they can only send me an LG V40 ThinQ. It's an upgrade but it's a larger phone than my current one. Anyone have any experience with the LG V40 ThinQ?
I'm a little pissed. My Moto X4 started being super wonky about a month ago, after being iffy for like 3 months. I was holding out for 4a knowing original release date. Finally just had to pull the trigger on a 3a XL, gave it to my wife (cost like $325 refurbished from Amazon because Play Store just stopped selling) because she doesn't keep phone in pocket, and took over her old 3a. I'm not super disappointed, but not gonna lie that I'd rather one of us have the 4a for $25 more.
Pixel intrigues me, especially at that price. Anyone had good/bad experiences with it in the past? I've gone from alltel, to iphone, to my current galaxy s9 I've had the past 2ish years so I'm not really tied to any particular type. Wife wants me to get the new iphone when it comes out so our texts aren't green anymore. Thinking of waiting for the 4a 5G to come out so I can get some possible 5G benefits. I live in a mostly rural part of GA though.
Google's phone hardware is obviously in transition, at both ends. Their other mobile hardware division (laptop/tablets) have never not been in transition. Within that, nothing has carried over to another year, with the exception of the glowing chromebook pixel in 2013/2015. From a market category/segmentation perspective, Google's differentiation of the Pixel 4a from the Pixel 4a 5G with other non-5g features is pretty meh. A larger screen (and battery), second camera, perhaps squeezable edge, extra colors etc just doesn't make much sense. Right out of the gate, the processor on the Pixel 4a is not 5g compatible, so the Pixel 4a 5g will have a somewhat faster/newer processor than its fraternal twin. Couple that with projections that the Pixel 5 and 4a 5g use the same processor (again, wtf) - It's quite confusing how the 4a 5g ($500) and 5 ($700?) will be differentiated. Hopefully not merely Soli, Wifi 6 and a 90/120hz screen. Perhaps a third camera? That is something to hope on.
A couple more thoughts: I was holding out hope some of these in development devices were actually just unifying the 5a and 5 product cycles, but no dice, looks like we are getting a 765G on the premium model. All Nexus + (non-budget) Pixels since the N5 in 2015 have been from the Snapdragon 8XX series. Also, can we not get a bump in charging speed? We have been at 15/18W since the Nexus 5x Good thread:
