I just looked at my 7 Pro order from last year and I got $575 for my 6P 256GB. My 7P 512GB only gets $420 on the Google Store now. I was like 95% sure I was going to order the 8P this week but now I guess I wait until Black Friday-ish. I didn't actually order my 7P last year until mid-November (think that was due to availability - the black 512GB version was rarely in stock IIRC) so maybe the free watch or buds will go away and trade-in credit will go up.
Yeah, I think that happened last year too. People were saying it was like $100 to upgrade. I'd do that, but not this
saw a salient point - it's complicated at best for the manufacturers to include sensors/hardware for features that don't do or hardly do anything out of the box. The UWB chip was added what 3 generations ago (starting with p6p) but has no present day use of what, unlocking certain bmw vehicles? afaik, thats the only thing currently used by it. A find my network is forthcoming but probably 24 at the earliest. also - this is apparently from a 2013 phone.
I upgraded my p7p to Android 14 a couple of days ago. My battery is lasting a good bit longer. I don't know if it's just optimizations or if it turned something off that I haven't noticed yet. Anyone else experienced battery improvement since updating?
The charging port in my iPhone is looser than Leeroy Jenkins! I want to go back to android, but I have no idea what to go with. My last phone before this was the pixel 5 or 6.
screw it, took the plunge since the free watch ends tonight at midnight. Black P8P. Will sell the watch and have a negative total for the upgrade, and a complete wash after I buy a new case.
I've been debating with myself recently that I want to get a folding phone. At this point the only one I would get is the newest Samsung Galaxy after reading and watching all sorts of reviews on it however that may change because OnePlus is going to be debuting their first fold phone next week I think. The OnePlus 7 Pro is still the best phone I've ever had so I'll always give them a look. This will also all depend on cost too. No idea what OnePlus's price will be. No way I'd get the Galaxy fold at full retail cause that shit is way too expensive.
Recently had my 6a screen replaced, and the dude there said the only thing you should never do is a folding phone. They are in there all the time for repairs even being brand new.
P8p ordered yesterday and arrived today. Set it up a bit, but will show restraint and wait for case and screen protector to arrive before switching
This 6 of mine is pissing me off. Either going 8 or switching teams to a iPhone 15. Anyone hands on with the 8 yet?
I'm unique in that I had over $300 something in Google Store credit. Plus $420 via trade in, $70 in store credit coming back plus some cash back on the CC side. eBay had unopened watches going for $200-250 ish COVIDiskilingme79 pasting b/c I had this already.
P8P just got delivered. Of course on a night I'm stuck at school until late with a JV game. If it was earlier today I may have put in quickly for an afternoon sub. Unexpected illness hits quickly sometimes ya know. Coming from a stupid Samsung S22 Ultra. Ultimately not a bad phone at all but damn do I miss stock android and what Pixel provides.
**Google Store Black Friday deals starts 11/16** P8 - $150 off = $549 and above P8 Pro - $200 off = $799 and above Pixel 7a - $125 off = $374 and above Pixel Fold - $400 off = $1399 and above Pixel Tablet - $100 off = $399 Pixel Watch 1st Gen - $70 off = $199 and above Pixel Buds Pro - $80 off = $119 Pixel Buds A series - $40 off = $59 4k Chromecast with Google TV - $12 off = $37.99 Nestcam battery - $60 off = $119.99 Nest Hub - $50 off = $49.99 Nest wifi pro 3 pack - $120 off = $279.99
I wait for upgrades every month and upgrade the second I can. I am always a little let down that there's barely anything new, or nothing obvious at all. I feel like I will be that way if I switch from the 7p to the 8p.
I'm the same way except I had every intention of upgrading. Can't believe the trade in values were so low during launch.
Yeah I moved from using ps5 to Chromecast and am on the verge of moving back. Chromecast buggy as hell
Thanks for this post. I bought one yesterday and this is a game changer for me. I have a 65" Sony Oled. I absolutely love the picture on it, but it was the last model before they retired Android TV and switched to Google TV. Android TV on the Sony is so bad It stalls constantly and the layout just sucks. I have an apple tv 4k but it constantly loses connection with the TV. It has issues with the arc and I've bought like six hdmi cables and it works for a while and then fucks up again. This Chromecast seems to be the perfect solution.
+1 on the GoogleTV Chromecasts. The 4k w/o GTV was always a little buggy for me (vs the GTV one and the OG Chromecast), so I just have it laying around now.
Sony tvs still having issues with arc, huh. My 900e from 2012 never got that right. Thankfully I never really needed it
I would recommend Chromecasts as well. Not from having owned one but because firesticks are so bad. Every one I've had was so laggy and basically unusable like a year after I bought them
Anyone got a recommendation on a bedside alarm clock + wireless charger + BT speaker +bonus if it charges other things? Wife and I both have Pixels. Pixel Stand 2 was my idea, but I don't think she likes it. This Emerson thing looks neat, but sounds like the charging is sketchy. Thoughts?
The specs on the pixel compared to the iphone are always nearly identical but the Iphone always costs several hundred more, I guess because you get green bubbles.
I switched to iPhone a few years ago because it handled dual Sim way better with both being enabled all the time and allowing phone to switch to best data signal. As soon as android added that capability I switched back to P8P
i too am a pixel truther and have been consistently laughing at apple, apple users, and the eu telling apple to stop fucking around.
About to celebrate 4 years with the 4XL. Zero issues with it. Still holds a good charge and takes great pictures
lucky. the battery in my 4xl died in jan so i had to go 7. but the person i donated it to was able to easily replace the old one and now its going strong again.
