Using recruiting rankings is dumb and I hope someone tells them that. There is no way Alabama has 3 NFL QBs on the roster or 7 olineman, etc.
Wait what the fuck I was just joking about it being bobby barnes, dipshit con artist that’s the exact level of sports analysis I would expect from a lawyer who defaulted his client into a judgment in excess of $1 billion
Its lazy analysis. Alabama has 12 NFL LBs!!!!.... at least half of which are backups and wont play in this game Second - hes a lawyer, not a NFL GM. Saying michigan only has 2 nfl prospects at DB for example is pretty dumb
Saying we have only 15 NFL prospects on the whole roster is even more dumb when we’ll likely have more than that drafted just this year.
I'll bet $1 they don't break the all-time record for NFL picks in a season, which is what they'd do if they had more than 15 this year.
so Michigan has the most talented roster in CFB history that’s a great bonus if we win and it’s a great excuse if we don’t. i’ll take it.
I am aware. Michigan has a very old roster compared to most schools. And it's a program that because of Jim and the NFL style they play, tends to get a lot of its borderline guys drafted. I don't know how many it's going to end up being in the end because I don't know who is ultimately going to declare.
I think covid years plus NIL is inflating that theoretical number when comparing with other teams UGA and what not. The roster is back logged with a year of guys who probably should already be in the league. There aren't a bunch of 1st rounders, but it is really deep with 3-7 round senior-6th year players. So 15 seems outlandish, but it really isn't in our context. But it just depends on who all declares, the OL itself has probably 5 or 6 that would be drafted next year if they all went.
100% like MG2 said, it’s going to be dependent on who declares as there are some juniors we thought would for sure be gone that may be coming back now. But if they go we have the following that will certainly be drafted 1 QB 2 RB 4 OL 1 WR 1 DT 1 Edge 1 LB 2 Safeties 1 CB And then 1 WR 1 TE 1 OL 1 LB 1 CB Who are all in that 6th round to UFA range. I’m not claiming we’ll have a bunch of high draft picks, but we have a ton of upperclassmen that are going to get taken in 3rd-7th rounds.
Y’all, Michigan is not going to have 15 players drafted. That’s not a dig, just common sense. I get what y’all are saying about it being lower-level draftable talent and COVID extra-year guys, but that’s insanely optimistic. I assume the older guys got evaluations before this year, correct? If you’re a fifth-year guy slotted in a 3-4 round slot, it would be dumb to stay. You probably aren’t shooting up the board and will almost certainly fall back with another year of wear and tear.
If they really do have 41 seniors plus a couple of draftable juniors it’s possible. An insanely large senior class due to the Covid rules would probably lead to more day 2 and day 3 picks than normal one would think. That’s like ~45 draft eligible players which has to be a record.
If they were NFL good they wouldn't be in their 5th or 6th year. There's some exceptions to that but come on.
if they were 6th or 7th round picks that were less than 50% chance to make a roster they would be. Probably closer to 25% chance. they’re not saying they’re one of college football’s most talented teams just that the way the roster is constructed they may have a lot of day 3 types
But there are other schools in similar situations, right? There will probably be several exceptionally large draft classes until the COVID groups finally cycle out.
Exactly, we got multiple transfers who were considered 5th round or higher who came in and increased their stock.
Just once, look something up before you hit send and look like a jackass about whatever you're discussing. Google isn't hard. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Michigan_Wolverines_in_the_NFL_draft
This just reminds me of the old "Well we have 18 returning starters from our 6-6 team so we'll win 10 games next year!" Na those 18 weren't and aren't great and an extra year doesn't change that. Michigan isn't the only team with a bunch of old mid tier guys. There's only so many 24 yr old guys that can go in the 6th round.
Oregon State was one of those schools. Had a bunch of 5th year and super seniors, not sure if they'll get drafted. Hell Tyjon Lindsey finally ran out of eligibility last season
In the last 4 drafts, Michigan has had 17 players picked between rounds 5-7. They have included a punter, a long snapper, a fullback and a special teams only player. 5 OL have been drafted in those rounds. I don't know how many Michigan players will be drafted in April. I don't know who is going to declare. It is far from a guarantee that 15+ get drafted. But it's a legitimate possibility depending on who declares. And I'm not sure why people are so weird about it. PFF has 14 Michigan players ranked in its top 182 (none of them ranked in the top 50), and that doesn't include at least a couple with decent chances of getting picked. That doesn't mean they all will, but this isn't some new talking point. Draft folks on the internet have been talking about this for 6 months.
