Counsell has won 90 games with less. Question is, was our bullpen magic his doing or the pitching lab that Milwaukee has put together.
Cubs have turned it around with the pitching lab in recent years. Not on the level of the Indians or Brewers who seem to develop ace talent and elite pen arms yearly. Most fans thought Jed would spend in the deep waters… it’s just not who he’s ever been.
A couple of packages… don’t think they move Morel seems like he’s going to be locked into 3B next year.
Some talk around baseball is Bellinger priced himself out of some places (SF, Tor) and we could be his best option. On a decent pod they said 7/175 could be where he lands with Chicago. That would put us back to where we ended 2023 as far as lineup is concerned. Would love to add Soler as a DH over Hoskins.
Curious what the contract is like. My guess is 5 years 110M but it’ll probably be a higher aav given there were other suitors
That was the initial projection but every story recently felt that it would be higher than that and likely go over 100M. They were just using that contract as a placeholder because of the Senga deal
Jed is never going to going to play in the deep waters. From what I gather they basically brought in Stroman 2.0 for a smidge under the cost of Stroman. If we sign Belly that takes us as a roster back to where we finished 2023. Feels like Belly, Chapman and Hader would be great to actually improve the team next season. And it also seems like we have offers out on Belly, Chapman. So we might get there!
They should have plenty of money to go get Belly, Chapman and Hader. Get it done Jed. I need Chicago team I can believe in.
I’d imagine this is the cubs trying to take advantage of the dodgers 40 man roster crunch but Michael Busch isn’t very good
You should almost never fall in love with 19 year old prospects. Maybe Jackson Ferris is the next Kershaw but Busch is a top 50 guy that’s MLB ready. We need to use our farm depth at some point.
I feel like he’ll play third, no? They’re likely still going to end up with one of Hoskins or Bellinger that would fill first. Knowing the cubs, I can’t imagine the cubs would be thrilled to pay Matt Chapman to play third.
He’s definitely playing third. This likely indicates that they’re going to try to move Morel and that if Busch doesn’t work out they can then try Shaw out there.
Yeah I think it’s more likely than not that morel gets traded. Although, I guess they do have a really high price tag on him so who knows.
