I’d like to ask the AIPAC spokespeople why Israel wouldn’t severe ties with the UN if they’ve been able to prove that they’re supplying Hamas with weapons and ammunition? Are these talking points for the donor class or the electorate that may have learned some hard truths about AIPAC in the last six months? As an aside from Gaza I started the book "Fiasco: The American Military Adventure in Iraq" by Tom Ricks in the last few days, so far so good. Vaguely remember watching Operation Desert Fox on the news as a kid (4 days of airstrikes on Iraq in 1998 when Saddam wouldn't comply with inspectors) but was utterly shocked to read it almost led to the fall of Saddam and a factor in Iraq abandoning any kind of bio-weapon development. Only briefly touches on the defection of Saddam's son in law Hussein Kamel in 1995 (because he thought Uday would kill him and/or Saddam would find out Hussein Kamel was siphoning off Iraqi state funds for personal use) but another factor regardless. And of course the GOP pretended like Desert Fox wasn't effective and was done solely for political reasons. Wolfowitz is already a fucking clueless asshole. Truman if you're looking for a book would recommend. John Mccain's politics aside Ricks has told the anecdote about Mccain getting a ton of exercise while reading because he'd repeatedly make it 10 pages, throw the book against the wall in anger, and walk around the block. Sums up pretty well how ill prepared we were for everything that happened post-invasion.
