ashy larry SC do you guys get the Scene SC newsletter? I just discovered it and subscribed. I don't listen to podcasts and I don't 100% know what a "substack" is so not sure how all the content works but cool someone is doing something like this for local artists.
yea david is invaluable to the local scene. definitely go through those sceneSC samplers- think he’s put one out annually since like 2010
I knew of him but just discovered this newsletter thing. Which I think he wants to use just to push people to the podcast. But yeah, he definitely didn't start doing this overnight. I don't like how music can get "cliquey" and I imagine it definitely helps an artist if they know David/David likes them. But to anyone with the audacity to complain, go start your own platform if you want. If he's making any money doing this it can't be much.
seeing lots of buzz around the new Cindy Lee… this shit is two hours long about halfway through first listen and man it’s the goods. edit: kezarmyaj was on it. do it guys
Just got it in on my workout this morning. Always forget you can cut that down to 30 cutting Landers. Landers is fine but if I’m working out it’s an insta skip. Still a damn near perfect half hour for me.
you can dl it for free/donation on their site now as well. its incredible. I want to hear 'lockstepp' live and very loud one day
Really thinking hard about the $120 re-sale tickets for their show here in a few weeks. I need to hear this live
Cindy Lee is the project of the former frontman of Women if you guys remember them from about a decade ago
Eyesore and Bells from that second record have aged really really well. I never enjoyed chad vangaalen’s music so much but loved the work he did producing these records
but they’re both really depressing records lol like half of their catalogue is about a singular incident of suicide
I had to drive around a lot for my first job out of college and my car only had a cassette player. I wore out Viet Cong (preoccupations) on cassette that year
Anyone ever been to a show at Terminal West in Atlanta? Is it a good venue? Anything to do around that area?
saw mr gnome there back in the day and it was fuckin awesome that's all I've got unfortunately but it can't hurt
I have been and it was nice, I was very high and kept thinking it was an open air venue for no good reason.
