So the Reeds aren't gonna be in this season. Bran and Osha are already taking their place which almost makes me think they won't appear next season. Someone on reddit posted that maybe Luwin stays alive and goes with either bran or rickon when they separate. I guess it really doesn't matter because as of now I don't think tvfags even really know who rickon is. Maybe Osha stays with Bran?
Or maybe Meera appears and takes care of bran and osha still goes with rickon. I guess you also have to question whether Rickon will play a part in this story or not. As of right now do the show fags even know who he is? He'd also only be around 6-7 by the 6th book.
I think at this point Osha just about has to stay with Bran if the Reeds are never introduced. It would be fairly easy to get someone from the show to disappear with Rickon since he doesn't do anything later anyway. Speaking of the Reeds, what happened to them in book 5? It just stopped mentioning them in Bran's last chapter(s).
It's too late for the Reeds imo. I don't think they'll exist in the show. Shits about to go down and they don't have time to be built up and I like the Osha/Bran combo they have going. It's years before Bran has to eat him so I'm sure they'll come up with something if they make it that far. Sending Luwin with Rickon would be smarter anyway. That way if he ever does come back, it will be as King of Winterfell and not some savage with a wild Dire Wolf.
i remember jojen being really weak and on the verge of death, and meera i'm not too sure. i think she's just trying to keep jojen alive.
I think Osha will go with Bran. In the last episode she was asking him a lot about dreams and seemed upset about his dream and knew about the 3 eyed crow. I believe that was the Reed's role early on so I think they'll send her with Bran and she'll just serve as both Reeds and who knows with Rickon.
I have to believe that the producers of the tv show know GRRM's plans for the end of this series. There were references in ADWD by Manderley in a discussion with Davos that Rickon was on Skagos. It seems to me like he still has a role to play and if he does then the producers would know it and wouldn't write him out.
If Jojen and Meera aren't in the show doesn't that undermine the theory of Howland playing a major role in the resolution of Jon's storyline?
I don't see how hit would. I don't think Howland needs Jojen and Meera in order to play a pivotal role in the books.
I think Rickon is still going to play a big role... I also think Benjen Stark will be back at some point.. I thought maybe he was cold hands... But then i think i read something that made me realize that could not be true.
I think Benjen was killed and warged into the next closest thing which was a wight, which is now Cold Hands. I did not come up with this theory.
Maybe it was not something i read. Maybe it was just the fact that bran did not recognize him or suspect that he was his uncle. I think bran would have at least sensed it.
I think he's dead and still in his own body, but was somehow saved by the Children of the Forest and not controlled by the Others.
Coldhands always had a scarf over his face. Bran noticed that he never eats that there is no frost building up on the scarf from his breath freezing. That's how he came to the realization that Coldhands was dead.
Rickon's being just as marginalized in the show as he is in the books, if not more, so I'm wondering if he'll ever really amount to anything more than a chip in the game. I think he might be used for something when Davos finds him, but I'm beginning to doubt he actually does anything himself.
Him being marginalized is precisely the reason a lot of people think GRRM has a big role in store for him.
Rickon is the Stark heir (assuming Bran as we know him is gone) and the Stark loyalists in the North are looking for him. he's going to play a major role at some point.
that's asking a lot of the TV audience, IMO. Him showing back up in season 5+ for something would cause a ton of confusion for the followers of the show who aren't diehards/bookfags. They've simplified and streamlined storylines already, if they were told by Martin that Rickon would be important later on I'd expect to see him get peppered in some more.
Like him smashing the nuts next to Bran last episode? Rickon had barely been talked about in the books up to this point, so I don't think its unreasonable that his screen time increases after the sack of Winterfell.
that's the first we've seen him this season (not that there's tons of time for him anyway) and did they even mention his name? Once Winterfell is sacked we're not going to have any opportunity to see Rickon again unless he has his story changed to accompany Bran or they create something new for the show for him to keep him at least in the minds of the viewers.
Rickon never had a POV in the books so we never saw him. the show has proven it is not held back by that. look at how much more of Littlefinger and Renly we saw in the show compared to the books - and how their stories have varied. I could definitely see them giving Rickon his own little storyline on Skaagos (or wherever) to keep him fresh in the viewer's minds. that is, if he is important.
I think Osha stays with Bran. They already had a pretty intense conversation about his dreams, albeit they didn't really get into it much. I think she will tell him more about his dreams once Winterfell burns to the fucking ground.
