Old messages were probably full of Mike London optimism and Tony Bennett pessimism. I'm glad they're gone.
Probably going to see Tony at a VAF event in Atlanta in May NBD. Would go see baseball play at GT this weekend but I had too many other plans. Plus we suck soooo
Adrian Wojnarowski Virginia junior Justin Anderson leaning toward entering NBA Draft, sources tell Yahoo. Final decision soon. Strong candidate for 1st round.
The program will be fine. I really don't think we're a blip on the radar. But next year was going to be our year to finally make a statement in the tournament. Don't think we'll have another one of those until 2020, barring any surprise seasons.
I'm not saying you'll suddenly start losing. But this past year and next year were FF quality teams, and an injury and now the NBA may rob you of that. Bennett obviously has the program in good hands, but there isn't anyone like Anderson on that roster.
totally agree. this year was a missed opportunity fucked up by injury more than anything. no reason TB can't build a FF quality team though (not saying it's next year necessarily obviously)
That being said, another year of Shayok, Hall with a shot, unlocking thompson and we'll replace both scholarships. Still a chance to be top 10
If Nolte can get his shot back like he did toward the end of last year and Tobey can make the senior jump we've been waiting 3 years for, we're easily a top 10 team. But those are big ifs. Fans are putting a ton of pressure on Wilkins and Shayok. They'll both be very good players, but I think Tobey and Nolte are more important to next year. Fun to have a coach who guys actually develop under. And great news that Bennett is sending another fringe-NBA type guy to the NBA. Pretty soon all the negative recruiting about us limiting guys will have to disappear.
I will sometimes go to the sabre and just search for Builtbadgers and Cvillehoops13 posts. Cvillehoops hasn't been around for a while but recently made a return. Also sucks that Grant landed at Florida. Would've been a huge get for us, even if he would have just been gone in a couple years.
And they tried to change it and everyone flipped because all their posters are 48 and don't know how to use anything else. The quality of bball discussion is much better on the Sabre than on 247, but the board format means that good/useful threads get pushed off the front page just as quickly as garbage threads.
Tugard basically plagerized recruit updates from a poster on the Sabre and from Internet updates from the EYBL. Too lazy to look for them.
Here it is. Maybe he knows the guy. Maybe he's stealing it. http://chat.virginia.sportswar.com/message_board/basketball/2015/April/12/6309328.php
How much will you guys pay me to make a "Maybe Anderson left because he felt constrained by Bennett's system" thread on 247
DA was pretty legit too. Nused. Post that link in Tu's thread and tell him to stop ripping off people's shit.
I refuse to acknowledge tu because every thread ends up being about what tu thinks and it ruins the board
We don't have anyone on the roster who plays with their aggression or emotion. Maybe DT has it I hope? Those aren't things you learn, you've either got em or you don't.
i think wilkins has it.. he definitely brings it when hes in the game.. unfortunately he wasnt give much run to end the season.. hall can give us the highlight plays JA did imo(see his dunks vs vcu and fl st). i really cant wait to see DT, i dont know if ill be expecting to much since we've so much good about him.
Wilkins is super athletic like JA, not sure hell be as explosive once he adds the needed weight. A couple more inches could really turn him into an elite PF down the road. What I really meant was we don't have anyone that plays with the fire JA or even DA played with. That will be missed the most.
Guy and SKJ are going to be very very good. Jerome seems like a guy who could be a solid replacement for LP, but I think he's going to be saddled with the expectation to be LP. Not sure what to think of him. Diakite would be huge. Our staff with a guy with upside like that is scary. For the last spot, hopefully we can get one of Langford/Fultz/King, but I think those are all long shots. Huff would be a nice get too, but I have a feeling the 5th spot goes to some diamond in the rough.
It would just be Perrantes's right? Normally I would say we'd pocket the 2016 scholarship to give to a 2017 guy, but the way we've had attrition shake out in the past I don't know that you ever bother holding them back like that. I think even if we don't hold a scholly, 2 will probably be available in that class.
Not to open up old wounds but how nice would it be to have Seth Allen next year? Suppose that means we don't get Shayok, but still.
From Tee's piece on hiring Soderberg: http://www.dailypress.com/sports/teel-blog/dp-teel-time-soderberg-uva-post.html What that portends for the Cavaliers is unknown, but it’s worth mentioning that while working on the Tony Bennett profile last month, Dick Bennett told me: “You look at some teams that have an abundance of offensive talent and can play with a lot more possessions, and I think he would like to be able to do more of that, and I think perhaps that day is coming.” ------------------------------ Hmmmm
