Nice, id be flipping out over that one. My season is over, got one 6 point and saw 5 total on 17 hunts. Was frustrating but still enjoyed my extra time in the woods this year. Im sort of excited for this off season, setting up my own stands and planting food plots. Didnt have an opportunity to scout this past year, and we had only a few feeders set out and our results reflect that.
man i really like venison, pretty much all my family eats now because its much healthier than beef and once you get used to the taste you dont even notice a difference.

St Francisville Yeah, I cook the hell out of it year round normally. This past year I had a shitty contractor (very long story) who unplugged my outdoor freezer while I was on vacation- it was packed full of deer meat. Every kind you could want or imagine (I stored all the meat for my family since I had the extra freezer). That is the closest I've ever come to murdering someone.
Really sucks that hunting and football seasons end the same week, wtf am I going to do on the weekends now?

That place has a ton of trophy bucks. My dad is from Natchez MS and knows a bunch of guys that go out there.
Yeah they do. My dad wrote stories for Mississippi Woods and Waters and got to do a story on them and do a bow hunt. He said he saw lots of monster bucks but they never came into range.
Archery started nearly a month ago here. Just been too busy to get to my hunting ground. It's not ok.
My brother works for a company that does habitat management and restoration. Some of the work is for private land owners, but most of it is for the DNR and groups like PF, DU, etc. He's found out about more public hunting land than most people even knew existed. The place we're going this year was just made public about a month ago. It's not posted as public and it isn't listed on the DNR website. My brother was doing some work there just before it was made public and he said he saw dozens of birds. There are only a handful of people who know it's public and we happen to be in that exclusive group.

I just bought a pair of Lacrosse's rubber snake boots for $170 a couple months ago...love them. Leather will be anywhere from $180-$300
so if you needed them for work, and I said we will reimburse you for anything up to $250, you would be cool with that?
You should be able to find a decent pair for that amount. Check out Cabelas...they should have a few different options at that price point.

Buddy of mine killed a triple bearded turkey on our farm. Long 10" and two 7" . I'm not a turkey hunter, but I see them all the time and this is a first for me. Is this some kind of freak , or do people get these kind of turkeys all of the time?
i wouldn't say all the time but i've seen doubles at our club. also saw a buck with two sets of nuts, never heard of that one before
another turkey season i've came up empty, shit is starting to wear on me. had to miss last weekend (which was opening) b/c of kids. this weekend was rough as hell, you pretty much had to be sitting where they felt like walking to get one, not responding to calls at all. guessed wrong side of water they landed from roost on both mornings. arkansas goes back to early april opening in 2017, so will probably be shitty next year too
Hey really interested in getting into hunting, White Tail, Duck, Turkey, Goose but have no idea where to start. Don't know how to field dress anything if I were to get something. Are there local hunting classes in areas where they can teach these things? Local chapters where you can meet people who hunt? Can someone point me in a direction to start? Trying to move back to the Midwest if that helps. South Western Michigan / North West Indiana.
Same here. I feel for you. Got rained out this past weekend and each time I've been this year I've gotten absolutely no response to calling. Fuck you, turkeys.
If they're not responding to calls, they must be henned up already in your area. Our turkey season here in MN started 3 weeks ago and for the last 2 weeks, they've been going like gang busters. My season starts on Thursday and I'm afraid they might be henned up so I'll be in the same situation as you. In that situation, all you can do is find where they're going and ambush them. Luckily, one of my teammates is going with us and he used to guide for gobblers in Kansas before he moved here. Hopefully he knows a few tricks for tough birds.
Yeah if they don't respond to calls you need to ambush them. Spot and stalk. That's basically fall turkey hunting.
