i almost agree with you. I was very disappointed. Wanted to see bronn wreck shop. Also want to see Jamie learn how to fucking fight with his left hand. How hard could it be???
Tommen's inaction comes from his desire to be a good king and to not want to start violence. He doesn't understand yet all of the underhanded plays going on because Cersei has sheltered him from them. Once the faith took Loras house Tyrell couldn't do anything or they would put Loras to death as a hostage. It gets compounded when they take Margaery.
Only problem I have with the sand snakes is their motivation. Nobody "murdered" Oberyn. He volunteered to fight a monster to the death to get revenge and lost because he acted like a faggot. The SS talk like someone poisoned his wine or killed him in his sleep. You're trying to start a war because your fuck buddy couldn't shut up long enough to finish someone off. Get over it
The dark haired chick that went to KL with Oberyn and is now leading the SS - was she something more than Oberyn's fuck buddy? If so I missed it
Im sure it's a big deal in the books, but his latter storyline to me was just a waste of screen time. I cant imagine what he could possibly add to the 26 other story lines currently under way....but Im sure there is more to come
He has the claim to a burned down castle harrenhal. And he has an idiot, Jon arryns son/his step son in his way. So essentially the vale is his.
The books spend some time showing LF expertly schmoozing the different powers that be in the Vale to gain loyalty. So I'd say we're to assume this happened off screen in the show as well. I mean they've been fucked over by the Lannisters time and time again. Last time any of them were really in KL, they were all butchered, babies included. They send Oberyn there with the "official" purpose being diplomacy, and he ends up dead too. They're looking for a reason to kill Lannisters and logic isn't about to get in the way. And there's no way that this should be your ONLY problem with that storyline. It's been an absolute disaster in almost every way. This quote is from the book thread so don't follow it if you're a show only guy. The quote itself is spoiler free.
Regardless how suave and clever Littlefinger is in the books, Im quickly growing tired of his show character. It's probably direction's fault, but guy has one facial expression that he uses always, one monologue tone, and he just regurgitates one witty line after another from the same "place" ... so to speak, regardless of circumstance. That's gotta be one of the easiest roles in the history of television to play. Zero skills required.
The High Sparrow is basically the GOT version of the Pope. Chopping heads off in there is likely to spark a giant peasant revolt.
The show made it seem like they were basically a cult. I thought the high septon was the pope. Next thing you know they have the power to put the freaking queen in jail. Just seemed weird to me and I basically think they did a bad job of showing them gain that kind of influence over king's landing.
Yep. He looks bad without Tywin's guidance and if anything, he may still be heeding his advice. "A wise king listen to his council." Seems like he's deferring like he was told to. It also still has to be fresh in his mind how stupid and brutal Joffrey was and how that ended up killing him. He's compensating for that. He's a kid who doesn't have any grasp of the politics going on and people are scapegoating him saying they miss Joffrey lol who was an enormous pussy too when it came down to it. Him looking bad is a reflection of Cersei's stupidity.
thing about listening to your counsel is that if your circle is made up of two power drunk women and their respective stooges, it's probably not going to work out well for you. Can't really blame Tommen. He hasn't been king long enough to have any sort of perspective on the political shit going on. And the people who are supposed to be helping him are more interested in using him to further their own agendas. One is his wife, the other is his mother. No win situation in every respect.
Does the Sparrow Jail allow conjugal visits? That would be my main concern with Margery being in there if I were Tommen
This, and you can only equate them to a cult if suddenly the cult's membership grows so much that it is a very significant portion of the cities population. The Faith Militant is only the armed portion of the High Sparrows following. His total following is huge.
Cersei's slangin the faith militant pretty liberally for an incestuous cunt. That's gotta be olenna's next move.
Agreed. Think it ends up biting her and probably King Tommen at the same time which really fucks the Lannister name and Lady O comes out ahead. Perhaps creepyfinger will be the "witness" that helps take them down like Cersei used that brothel fag
they have to do something with theon's character no way do they just have him as this beaten dog the rest of his time on the series before ramsey ends up killing him when he gets bored was hoping he'd finally wake the fuck up in that last scene and kill ramsey
I can't stop watching the girl on the right. She just kinda shuffles towards and away from Bronn. It's incredible. I remember when I read some kind of preview after last season that mentioned the Sand Snakes and thought if they were even half as awesome as Oberyn there was no way they wouldn't be awesome as well. Incredible how much of a joke they are.
I just got done reading some Dorne story line apologist's thread on reddit where he blamed everything on Spain only allowing the show 1 week to film all the scenes in Dorne. Sorry, that's on the show. If you agree to a scenario where you only have 1 week to shoot scenes that will be featured in about half of your season's episodes on a show like GoT... that's on you.
I don't read books and words and stuffs. Show fag 4 lyfe So I assumed.... The sand snakes were like a legit fucking army. To find out its a pack of bastard dykes is pathetic
Was wondering about Tommen's age so I looked it up. Kinda confusing. (Talks about their ages in the books so I spoilered to be safe) Spoiler Tommen's age in the TV continuity Tommen is actually 7 years old at the beginning of the novels, and only 9 years old at this point in the narrative, when he marries Margaery - the same age as Bran Stark. Most child characters such as Arya or Sansa were aged up by 2 years in the TV continuity, though others were not: Bran states that he is 10 years old in Season 1, and Joffrey is four years older than his book counterpart. Back in Season 1, Loras stated on-screen that Tommen is only eight years old. Four years pass by Season 5, which by this original number would make him only 12 on his wedding night - but when Tommen was recast for Season 4 with an older actor, his age was apparently retconned so that he is around 18 years old in Season 5.Other than retconning this one specific line from Season 1, however, it was indeed possible to increase Tommen's age to around 18 without violating internal story logic (Tommen can't be older than Joffrey would have been). Tommen's older brother Joffrey was aged-up in the TV series by 4 years, not only 2 years, to make him 16 years old in Season 1, instead of 12 years old as in the first novel (actor Jack Gleeson was actually 18 years old in Season 1; they cast an older and more experienced actor due to the narrative weight the role needed to carry). Four years have passed in-universe since Season 1, meaning Joffrey would have been around 20 years old in Season 5.
Even Hodor delivers lines under a variety of circumstances and various states of duress. LF might as well be sitting in a recliner at home. They could super impose his face into every scene and it wouldnt make a damn bit of difference.
