Cleveland Browns last title - 1964 Cleveland Inidans last title - 1948 Clevaland Cavaliers last title - City of Cleveland -- losers for over five decades I think some of you guys are assuming that all Clevelanders are OSU fans. While many like and follow them, they are a pretty clear fourth place to the vast majority.
Glad my sister got married this weekend so I was spared watching a large part of the series. It was tough to watch last night, I gave up a little around half because it was clear we weren't going to fight. I think Bud has the team on the right track, but the problem is that it's not as if we have a core of young guys. I think Bud and Ferry have an idea of where they'd like to go, but right now most of our guys are rentals and not a long-term core. PG: Really curious to see how the position plays out between Teague and Schroeder. SG: The Korver role is going to be a huge piece of the team over the next couple years and Kyle can't have all that much left in the tank at 34. We saw what happened when Kyle got cold and eventually was injured. Hopefully he can play out his contract and we can draft a knockdown guy next year. Bazemore is solid bench depth. SF: Hope we bring DMC back, and he can hopefully be a 4-5 year solution at the 3. Mike Scott doesn't seem to be a Bud guy and will probably be gone soon. PF/C: Obviously would love to have Milsap back but think if I had to choose one, I'd pick DMC. If Tavares develops into a capable true center, that would be huge, as I do think Al is more of a playoff 4. I think I'd like Portis over Dekker, but I am okay with either. There are actually a bunch of true centers that are free agents this year that we could get for cheap. I would be interested to see what an Omar Asik, Kosta Koufos, or Marrese Speights could contribute, but I bet we give Tavares the backup job this year and see how that plays out. Pero Antic should be taken out behind Phillips and shot. Trajectory is good, but I'm interested to see where the team goes in here. Still don't know that we have the core trio of Parker/Ginobli/Duncan to be Spurs lite just yet.
Are you not? I'm really only interested in comparing you and Corch 's pain to myself and other Georgia/Atlanta sports fan's atm. I don't care about the rest of Cleveland as a whole. I AM GOING TO WIN SOMETHING THIS WEEK GOD DAMNIT
Unfortunately and idiotically, the Browns are my #1. Buckeye football and Cavs have battled for #2 over the last so many years, but if the Cavs win, that trumps OSU, no question. I was thrilled with the title this year, but I went to work the next day and went about my life. Cavs win this year, and I'm not working the next two 24 hour shifts, that's just what is happening.
Can't even let me have this. I take it back. I will send your bottle shipper back...full of keystone light!
You keep that shipper and I think we should work out a trade sometime soon. I've heard tales of this delicious IPA from the tropics of Georgia and I MUST have it. But really, we'll do a trade soon.
Could you guys just, you know, give us Tristan Thompson? Loved watching him at Texas, not so much the past few nights.
Completely agree. I definitely want DMC over Millsap if it comes to it. Hate to admit it but I think we take a step back this year.
I feel this way too. I hate saying that I'd let go of an all-star who averages around 15pts a game but my eyes and heart keep telling myself that we can find an upgrade at his position.
On the non-basketball side, I am looking forward to seeing what the new ownership group does with Atlanta's New Team. It's not just the team being good, the overall presence of the franchise has improved drastically over the past several years. It would be silly to assume the Hawks are going to turn Atlanta into a pro sports town overnight. But they're the most progressive thinking ones and a guy can dream, right?
True to Atlanta. When the season started this was our advertising tag line. While the season unfolded it defined who we became. Both on and off the court, this was an unprecedented year for our organization. Our vision from the start was to make our city proud and to prove the Hawks were worth Atlantans’ support. We committed to showing you not only that we love this city, but that we would play hard for it. You made your presence known both at home and away -- all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals. While we fell just short of an NBA championship this year, together we achieved a historic season that we want to celebrate with you -- the fans. We had the largest increase in attendance in the NBA and sold out Philips Arena 32 of the last 35 games. We won a franchise-best 60 games, captured the Division Championship for the first time in 21 years and advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in Atlanta history. We had four players named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team - the most ever in club history. We witnessed Mike Budenholzer named NBA Coach of the Year in just his second season at the helm. We finished the month of January with a perfect 17-0 record, the most wins in an undefeated month in NBA history, earning our entire starting five the Eastern Conference Player of the Month honors. We achieved record broadcast ratings on both television and radio, including the top 5 most-watched Hawks basketball games in club history. We created an awe-inspiring and imposing home court environment, with an Eastern Conference-best 35-6 record at home. We honored our greatest legacy, Dominique Wilkins, and erected a permanent statue to greet fans and players each time they enter the arena to celebrate his many accomplishments and contributions to our franchise. This year was the foundation. Next month, our new ownership will be introduced, adding their vision and commitment to our city, our organization and our team provides us great opportunity to continue to build and grow. We will unveil a dynamic, new franchise brand to mark the beginning of the next chapter in our proud history. We will enter the draft and free agency looking to build on our team’s already successful foundation and basketball culture. We will continue to build bridges through basketball, whether by constructing and refurbishing courts in Atlanta neighborhoods, providing scholarships to our basketball camps, or surprising and delighting our fans with unique Atlanta Hawks experiences. Thank you for being true to the Hawks this season and we look forward to continuing to be True to Atlanta, (email Hawks sent)
What is a realistic name we can get in fa. We need some help rebounding in a bad way. I'd love gasol. How would he fit or would he even want to to atl. Who are the big time fa after gasol.
http://hoopshype.com/free_agency_2015.htm a lot of big guys here, but i don't follow the nba as a whole enough to know who is realistic.
http://www.nba.com/hawks/2015-draft-central Draft Profile: Portis NBA.Com: Oubre ESPN: Lyles Bleacher Report: Looney CBS Sports (Vecenie): Portis CBS Sports (Parrish): Portis CBS Sports (Harper): Lyles NBADraft.net: Portis Draft Express: Lyles Hoops Hype: Kaminsky Would be very happy Oubre or Kaminsky if they are still there. Portis is the most likely pick, IMO. Really don't know how I feel about Lyles.
Lyles will be an elite scorer/big that can shoot, but doesnt solve our immediate woes on defense no way Kaminsky is there
Atlanta Hawks @ATLHawks You're invited to Philips on June 25 for a FREE Draft party! All we ask is that you RSVP here: http://on.nba.com/1C4tOw8
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA 4m4 minutes ago Yahoo Sources: The Atlanta Hawks plan to promote Mike Budenholzer, Wes Wilcox; part ways with Danny Ferry. http://yhoo.it/1fjIzq8
kinda surprising but assume it was new owners' call def think Ferry would have some free agents refusing to listen
Coach Bud being the President is a good thing - gets final call on player decisions. Less chefs in the kitchen usually works best. Just need a GM that knows the CBA and Negotiations. And a strong scouting staff.
Steve Koonin @SteveKoonin .@ATLHawks fans, we have major news. A new generation of #Hawks basketball begins Wed., as we unveil our new uniforms & brand identity Chris VivlamoreVerified account@CVivlamoreAJC I'm told the Hawks' new uniforms will be a big change. Nothing minor. Stay tuned.
Based on the decisions made in the past couple years, I have absolute, 100% confidence that these new uniforms will be dope as shit.
As long as they don't look like these: http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/05/22/atlanta-hawks-trademark-new-logo/
dvr alert - fox sportsouth airing uniform/logo thing at 11am tomorrow Chris Mannix new mock has us taking Stanley Johnson, Draft Express has Oubre
Had a buddy see them last night...said they look similar to the 2nd picture down with the triangle design stuff.
Saw Muscala at Lenox Square Mall Saturday. He was buying jewelry/watch/etc. at Macy's. I hope we get Portis or Johnson.
Id guess Stanley Johnson, Kaminsky, Myles Turner Cant see it being Cauley-Stein with Willy Taveras already coming over in that role. It would either be a SF/PF. Think we look for a shooting wing in the 2nd.
