My wife is 5'8" and 125lbs. She is big into exercise and eating right. She doesn't smoke or drink. Her parents are also heathy folks. She had borderline dangerous blood sugar levels during pregnancy. Her doctor made her take the big test twice because he thought the first result was a mistake. This is our first child so she freaked the fuck out and was aggresive with her diet. Aside from her not being able to enjoy a lot of food, nothing really changed and our son came out healthy and happy. What's happened after he was born is an entirely different story, but likely not related to her beetus.
Wife is pretty scared (first kid ourselves) but I think she is trying to stay positive. She told me she wasn't a "Beetus" earlier. That means she's either funny or monitoring my internet usage/watched threads.....
My wife did. And she followed it up after my son's birth with for-real type 1 diabetes. Seriously, being pregnant did something to her body and it triggered Type 1. The good news for you is that it's incredibly rare for that to happen. As to your question, prepare for a shitload more doctor visits because you will now be a "high risk pregnancy." You'll probably be going in for non-stress tests and ultrasounds a lot more often and your wife's health and that of the baby is going to be monitored a lot more closely (which I think is actually a good thing). Learning to stab yourself with a needle is fun, too. Psychologically, it's harder than you might imagine. If your wife was planning on a midwife birth, though, forget it. No midwife is going to take on that risk. Depending on how things go, your doctor might insist on pre-term delivery and possibly a c-section. If there is nothing objectively wrong with the baby, though, you can probably convince the doctor to stick with whatever your birth plan was. We managed to have a full-term vaginal delivery with no complications. That said, it's manageable and not uncommon. You definitely pay more attention to what you and your wife eat. And chances are pretty good that everything will turn out fine.
Is 8 weeks too young to bring the kid to a baseball game? The Tigers are playing in Seattle while my parents are going to be out here. My parents already have tickets for all of us to go, but my wife is concerned. It's an evening game(7:10pst) and the seats are on the west side of the stadium, so I don't think the sun will be much of an issue. I guess they have changing tables in the restrooms(like 99% of public places do) and a nursing lounge behind one section, so I think we'll be good to go.

Yeah, got a carrier and earmuffs, figured he'd sleep through most of it anyways. We've seen Detroit teams or MSU teams almost wherever we've been. We survived Lions/Tigers/Red Wings games in Philly. This is the first time a Detroit team has been in Seattle since we moved out here. Don't want to change some things just because we have a kid now, enough other things will change as it is.
I'll give you one of mine. Take your choice between the 3 year old who actively fights potty training or the 6 year old who tortures the three year old. (I'm keeping the 9 year old because he hasn't pissed me off today. Yet.)
Anyone have kids old enough to play an instrument (poorly) in the school band? Mine wants to play next year and is deciding between the Baritone, Trumpet, Alto Sax for the band or the Violin or Viola for the orchestra (I already nixed the Bass). Which of these will sounds the least awful for a kid picking it up for the first time?
I was going to say that seems early and then I realized we took my son to his first Gopher basketball game on the day he turned one month (and it was an 8:00 pm game). He had earmuffs and sat on my lap until he was ready to sleep in the baby bjorn for the rest of the game. I guess I say go for it and just watch him closely for heat/sun.

Having children has really cleaned up my language. Now my son says "Son of gun" all the time, I've done my best to change that out for son of a bitch, which is the GOAT swear phrase.
I never realized how much I swear until recently. at 6 months she is still a ways away from talking, but she already picked up fart noises pretty quickly so she will probably repeat everything I say once she does talk
My wife curses to the point that I've given up on my three kids not picking it up, so I went the "make sure you don't use these words at school" route instead.
I cuss like a sailor, she covers her mouth to say fart. She's been waiting on this moment since he was born. I'm headed to target to get a slip and slide so i don't have to talk about it when i get home.

I just said Fuck while getting blown up at the finish line on mario kart, which my 2 year old makes me play. He has said "what the fuck" in the past, which I say often during UGA FB games.
Going to look at baby monitors today (have a bunch of shit to exchange at babies r us). Any recs? Was thinking of going with video, but there are a lot of out there. TIA.
I got one of the cheapest ones on Amazon and love it- does exactly what it needs to. So I'd stick to something simple. We have a video and audio monitor.... I would definitely get a video one though- it really helped when we cried it out.

Had little tad's third birthday yesterday. He wore himself out in the Mickey Mouse bounce house, and I'm pretty sure that I sprained my neck in said bounce house. Woke up this morning at 6:25 with the little guy shining his new flashlight in my face. Happy Father's Day!
Went out to breakfast and took Mini Boo to see Inside Out. Great day. The wife did one of those things where you ask the kid questions and then write down the answers and frame it. These two hit me right in the goddamm feels. "My dad always tells me: he loves me." "I love my dad because: he plays with me." He also said I was "way big" feel tall. that boy.
so apparently my kid is some sort of pulling up savant at 6 mos, so I am going to spend part of my relaxing day lowering her crib so she doesnt faceplant out of the crib in the middle of the night >:
I got a new watch, a new grill and my xbox1. Pretty sweet deal for something I love doing so much. Hopefully will go get shitty pizza, chicken and beer in a couple hours.
Started out good. In the morning after she gave me a card she made with a big blue circle on it that was to represent the pool which is her favorite place to visit with me. So of course I put her swim suit on right after that and took her swimming. Rapidly went downhill after that. Afterwards we met up with my sister and her husband and my parents and went to eat lunch at a restaurant of their choosing. They could choose anywhere in the world and with that in mind my brother-in-law chooses a mega-Chinese food buffet with some of the nastiest food imaginable. They had retarded food like chicken nuggets and pizza. They were out of fried rice. The flies were out of control. And then you sit down with your shitty food and rapidly notice the patrons of the buffet are the fattest, most grotesque humans in the city. Vomit.
