Unsigned Australian band. Had their new album for months but just got around to listening to it. I do like the styles they blend.
I would post the song 'Wires' from this group since that's pretty much a nice summary of the type of music these bastards normally make, but this is from their latest cd and I'd be damned if the first time I heard this, driving on the road late at night, hooked up to my Car's sound system that I didn't fall in love with this track. Enjoy.
I have not. I got away from JFAC for a while. I listened to it a little last night and it's really good. Theyve always been a good technical band.
Sun Eater is one of my favorite albums that I've come across recently. Love the stylistic change that they've made.
they're so much more complete for that album if that makes sense. It just sounds right for them. Hopefully they realize they found their niche. They really had to start changing because they were just associated with the pig squeals.
For some reason hammer smashed face by cannibal corpse is available in all the jukeboxes and i play that shit every time lol.
I hated them too. Loved Sun Eater. Do you like old school technical death metal? Stuff like Cynic, Aethist, Gorguts? You'll love that album if so. If you don't know about that genre much, I'd suggest starting with Cynic's Focus album. Classic that was way ahead of its time, and with your love for prog, you might dig it.
Not earth shattering by any means, but I'm digging the new Cattle Decapitation so far: Spoiler shitty quality rip
It's pretty dope. I'm not sure how original it is, because there are a bunch of parts that make me think "I've heard that before," like the Latin part of the chorus in He Is is completely swiped from another song that I can't put my finger on. The only song I don't like is Mummy Dust. I don't know how much longevity a song like He Is will have, but it legitimately sounds like some uplifting Christian rock, which I thought was funny
And 90's Rush? "Jack...relax Get busy with the facts No zodiacs or almanacs No maniacs in polyester slacks Just the facts Gonna kick some gluteus max It's a parallax...you dig? You move around The small gets big It's a rig It's action...reaction Random interaction So who's afraid Of a little abstraction? Can't get no satisfaction From the facts? You better run, homeboy A fact's a fact From Nome to Rome, boy"
Yeah, I spent some time with that on a long car ride the other day. I haven't listened to much of their stuff since Ashes Of The Wake, but I was a big fan up through that album. I thought the new one was pretty meh. I don't know if it was the guitar tone / tuning (drop D?) or what, but at times it sounded kind of late 90s nu-metal to me, not good. Feels like it loses some of the raw heaviness because of that. Those guys are top class musicians though, and it shows. 6.5 / 10 eHo I also listened to the new Cattle Decapitation. I was really impressed. Very, very heavy, and with actual song structure and catchy hooks. I don't know when the vocalist started doing that high pitched sing/scream thing, but it really works for them. Their drummer is an absolute savage. I cranked the bass way up and had the drums thundering the whole listen - it sounded awesome. I used to think these guys were a little too chaotic sounding for me, but I really like the direction they took with the songwriting here. 8 / 10
I completely agree with both paragraphs, though I haven't listened to LOG's newest. Their last album was pretty forgettable too. Ashes of the Wake was the last awesome full album, though Wrath had a couple good tunes. Regarded Cattle Decap, I'm generally more of a prog fan than an extreme metal fan (though I'm a total sucker for incredible drums), so I really like the direction they're going. I get lost in endless blast beats, so I like the songwriting that they're showing.
Yea, that was the thing that I noticed immediately. The blast beats and double bass weren't constant, but additive to the right areas. Great fills too. You should check out JFAC - Sun Eater, as discussed above.
Listened to it a bit, but haven't gotten the chance to really sit down with it yet. Definitely will, though.
Love Graveyard! I will listen to this over the weekend and do my best to keep an open mind and not think of Skeletor the whole time.
are you familiar with Gwynbleidd? they only have one album, but as far as Opeth clones go, they're pretty good
Familiar with Gwynbleidd!?!? Gwynbleidd is probably familiar with me I'm one of the few people that bought their self released EP when it came out in 2006.
Survived new Ghost, vocals still remind me of Saturday Morning Cartoons. Liked the riffs, favorite riffing probably on Absolution. Only a couple tracks made me cringe.
