We havent had cable tv for a couple of years now. My girls watch pbs or netflix. One big plus of doing this is that the girls aren't bombarded with tons of obnoxious toy commercials.

Plus i feel like the pbs shows like curious george are much less annoying than many of the shows that come on the disney channel.

Today is the last day of a little 4 day get-away that me and the wife are on. We left the girls with my parents for 2 days then my father in law came to our house to watch the girls the next 2 days.

We been in sandestin getting drunk and being lazy since Thursday night. Its been fantastic. So much unbelievably easier to just mix a drink and walk to the beach without packing up all the kid shit. And the kids.

The little one has completely changed her awesome sleeping abilities- and it's wearing on me. She doesn't want to go to sleep at all anymore, and when she wakes up around 4 or so she won't go back to sleep unless we put her in bed with us. I know the answer is to cry it out, but damn it isn't going nearly as well as it did the first go around.

Edit- just found this article...18 month sleep regression
    http://www.babysleepsite.com/baby-sleep-patterns/why-18-month-sleep-regression-can-be-hardest/

fuck me, right (although I'm sure all of you with older ones have gone through it, and those with younger ones are on your way to it)

My son didn't sleep through the night regularly until he was 22 months old. He was up 2 times a night until he was like 11 months, than once a night for another 11 months.

What's been the experiences of under 3 year olds and game day with y'all? I'm not wasting money on a ticket but I'd like to make the drive to campus just to let him walk around.

Honestly I think you'd be better off waiting until he's a bit older. I think you'd end up frustrated at not being able to do all the stuff you want to do while there, and he wouldn't get a whole lot out of it. My fiance's son is 6 and we're taking him to his first game this year so we'll see how that goes.

That's what I've tossed around. Homecoming is best, parade, hot sorority sluts doing face painting. Go for an hour or two and then pack it up and drive home. I'm only an hour from campus. He's picked up the "idea", he knows the logo by sight, can sing parts of the fight song, etc. He watched 15 minutes of a reply the other day and he won't sit still for 15 min of Blaze.

I think that would probably be a good plan. There is no way I would take him for a full on tailgate. Like Druce said, it would probably be more frustrating to you because you would be able to really enjoy a tailgate like you used to.

My wife has been bringing our now almost 3 year old to the tailgates and then leaving when we head to the game. She does fine playing and napping. We are in a grass lot typically under trees though.

Don't know if this is feasible where you live but I'd recommend taking him to a small college game. We took ours (then 3 and 1) to a North Texas game on a Thursday night last year and they loved it. We stayed for about a quarter and all had a good time.

my 18 month old does the same except he wakes up between 5 and 5:30 every morning and if I make him cry it out, he just stands in the crib for an hour or two until I let him out. It pretty much sucked until my wife said forget that and let him come into bed with us. He promptly fell asleep and now that is the routine. I don't like it but....

baby shake and bake was waking up at the same time, which worked for me because that's when I wake up so he was like my alarm

I'd bring him to the living room with me and he'd fall back to sleep on the couch next to me while had my cereal and coffee

we have the same routine still except now he helps me with the cereal while I'm brewing my cup

Thik I'm going to become REALLY active in here...

I'm pretty sure my step-daughter it trying to fail her advanced classes, thinking she will get placed back with the retards & have less work. It has created a wonderful household over the past week or so. Wife is working towards doctorate degree, so I've been picking up a lot of the household duties. This includes helping teenage step-daughter with homework/school. I got my first "You aren't my Dad?" last night... from simply enforcing the no TV / Electronics until school work is done. Her dad has no interest in doing anything but fun activities with her & allows her to do whatever she'd like, so 100% of schoolwork / discipline comes from our end.

I fear know it will only get worse from here :killme:

i've documented my son's issues at length on here, but obviously speech is his biggest. we started him with speech therapy when they would first approve it (14 months old).

at 14 months (beginning of therapy intervention), he was graded as 0-3 months expressive, 6-9 months receptive.

at 18 months, he was graded at 6-9 months expressive, 12-15 months receptive.

you will see a huge improvement once you begin treatment. the therapists biggest utility is the skill of getting a 1.5 year old to sit still and pay attention, enough to learn new speech skills. it's amazing really. and the things that you take in as a parent, you utilize throughout the rest of the day so the kid is essentially getting therapy while the therapist is not there.

Putting my 9.5 month old son in a car seat has become a real chore. For a while he has been arching his back and trying to turn in to it making it hard to buckle him in. In the past month he has gotten a lot stronger and more aggressive with it. It is hard for me to get buckled in but my wife has serious issues and it can take her 5+ minutes.

Has anybody else had a similar experience and/or have suggestions? I'm curious if this is just a boys being boys thing or if we're just lucky.

Yes and its terrible. My 8 month old girl does the exact thing. We would give her one of those baby snack things and once she got her attention on it, it made it a lot easier to put her in. I would just put the cookie thing to her lips and when she would go to grab it she would lose interest in fighting.

    am i the asshole?

situation: my daughter is 4 months old. today is supposed to be her first day at daycare. im at work and my wife calls me crying hysterically that she doesnt want lil webbi to stay at the day care, how lil webbi was crying and they didnt see if anything was wrong. i told her we both nothing was wrong w/ her, she will be ok. i told her to leave and go to work. she then tells me she called her mom and her mom is going to come watch lil webbi for the day/week at our house. i told her dont do that bc shes going to have to go, her mom goes back to work next week so lil webbi needs to go to daycare(her mom has been watching her all summer before school starts). i have a dr appt today so i planned on taking a half day go to the dr and then go back to my house, alone w/ no one in it.. enjoy quiet and peace for a few hours... but now my plans are fucked up and im pretty salty about it..

Not an asshole. It sounds like your wife is being an enabler in the situation. It is natural for kids to have separation anxiety (although 4 months is a little early for that) when they are left with strangers or in a new place. You want them to get over that fear. Calling in Grandma because they cried just reinforces the negative response.

Fwiw-My wife called me crying on the first day she dropped our son off and went back to work after maternity. Our son had no issue with it but it is hard for women and you should be supportive but that doesn't mean calling in Grandma is the right thing to do.

Wife is 18 weeks pregnant. Thought we were in the clear on Down syndrome but just find out she tested positive for a higher risk. should know at the end of the week either way. Regardless, this our first and if it was up to me our last. So far with her being high risk it has not been an enjoyable ride.

Hate having zero control of the outcome.

Tested positive for a higher risk? I'm assuming they noticed some markers on the ultrasound? We had a couple markers on ours, turned out to be nothing- like I told my wife, no point worrying until you have to. Best of luck.

Our Doc was in Israel on a mission or some shit, the doc we ended up getting was cool as shit. He hates when nurses call him in to early, so they get really good at timing it. I mean he walked in, put on his gloves sat down, boom theres a baby, cleaned her up, went back out on his merry way.

Little dude has been eating solids for two months and loves everything we feed him. He'd eat 30oz of solids if he could. Problem is, he hates eating formula now and has quickly slipped down the weight chart from 50% to 25%. He's still gaining weight, but it's only been 1lb in about 6 weeks. Our ped gave us a 'warning' and plan to get more calories in him. This is going to be a fun next few months with food battles everyday.
