wanted to go ahead and get a thread for this with commercials airing now streaming on Amazon November 20th https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_in_the_High_Castle_(TV_series)#cite_note-3
Reading the book right now. About 2/3rds through it. The concept is pretty cool, but the story is meh. All the makings of a good TV show though.
Been looking forward to this after I saw the commercial. Finished the first two episodes tonight and think it definitely has a lot of potential. Spoiler End of the second episode but you could see it coming
Has me rooting for a Nazi, not all of them. But he's definitely awesome. Spoiler Once I recognized Lou Avery I knew there was no way he'd be a good/cool person.
Also through 8 episodes. Wish I could keep watching but don't want to just completely ruin my sleep schedule.
Done with the season. 8/10 I went ahead and read up on the book, doesn't sound like the show follows it at all really besides the basic premise. Also, for the first few episodes did anyone else think Spoiler that Joe was Smith's son?
Finally. Would have knocked out a couple this weekend. Now will have to wait until I travel this week :/
Finished it, really liked it. Moxin I definitely thought the same thing for the first couple of episodes. Having seen the ending, I now need to go back and rewatch it. I misunderstood the importance of some of the things throughout the series given the outcome.
Also finished the season earlier. Thought I made a post here but didn't. I think 8/10 is about right. My friend asked me how it was on a scale of 1 to Breaking Bad and I said Lost. For reference, I think Breaking Bad is the best TV show I've ever seen and Lost is my favorite TV show. It's not as good as Breaking Bad but I love it. That's how I feel about The Man in the High Castle. Spoiler I had nice, big smile on my face as "The Twist" played at the end with Tagomi seeming to transfer into our reality.
Show combines so many themes and several genres, while having great character development with truly complex historical figures. Looks amazing and fits what's going on today. It's the kind of show I'll watch again before s2 gets released
I'm only on episode 3... but one thing is killing me. Do they ever address what happened with the Russians?
Finished it. Enjoyed it for the most part. Spoiler A little disappointed with the ending. Kinda felt like not a whole lot got resolved, it just kind of stopped. The showdown with Hitler was cool, but aside from that....
are you guys reading all of the notes embedded in the scenes? They provide a lot of background and explain things that aren't spelled out in the show
I only noticed those when I had to pause the show. Do I have to go back and rewatch with the notes on? Spoiler the man in the high castle is Hitler right, or at least a Hitler in a different timeline?
Spoiler That's what I thought (especially after the last episode), but Hitler is not TMITHC in the book.
Been watching on my Kindle and I typically read the notes in one go at the end of each episode. If you click on X-ray then click on Trivia it will show them all plus a link to rewatch the scene if you want. Turning them on while watching would be way to distracting for me.
Just saw the part where dude was told his son needed to be killed due to disease.... That shit is powerful storyline.
New York Subway Pulls Nazi-Themed Ads For New Show, The Man In The High Castle Updated November 25, 20155:41 PM ET LAURA WAGNER Twitter A New York City subway car is covered in Nazi imagery to promote the new Amazon television series The Man in the High Castle. In this photo, the Nazi eagle appears on the American flag where the stars should be. Spencer Platt/Getty Images The New York Metro Transportation Authority has removed Nazi-themed subway advertisements for a new Amazon show, The Man In The High Castle, after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo asked that they be taken down. Featuring Nazi eagles and a variation on the Japanese rising sun flag, the advertisements blanketed the walls and seats of the subway car. Though the advertising blitz was limited to only one subway car on the S train, Cuomo requested that it be removed, according the local CBS affiliate. MTA officials confirmed to NPR that the advertisements have been taken down. i The ads for The Man In The High Castle were pulled from the New York subway. Part of the advertisement covered seats in a design that evoked Japan's rising sun flag. Spencer Platt/Getty Images The Man In The High Castle, which is based on a book of the same name, is about what life may have looked like had Germany won World War II. But some people, including New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, found the imagery overwhelming "While these ads technically may be within MTA guidelines, they're irresponsible and offensive to World War II and Holocaust survivors, their families, and countless other New Yorkers," de Blasio said in a statement. A spokeswoman for Amazon told NPR that the company did not ask MTA to pull the ads, which have been running in the subway since Nov. 16. "Amazon Studios creates high-quality, provocative programming that spurs conversation. The Man in the High Castle, based on an acclaimed novel, explores the impact to our freedoms if we had lost World War II. Like Transparent and the movie Chi-Raq, stories that society cares about often touch on important, thought-provoking topics. We will continue to bring this kind of storytelling to our customers."
Pretty stupid ad campaign. Still even more fucked up that the ads were taken down by order of the governor.
Anyone have any idea what the fuck is going on? I plowed through all the episodes on Thanksgiving... got to the end and am lost. Did I miss something big?
