This AR magazine loader I bought is the absolute tits. Anyone that has ever handloaded 1k rounds of 223 knows what I am talking about. So stoked.
I have them for pistol ammo, never had one for rifle cartridges that I liked better than hand loading. This one works really well.
During SWAT basic, i loaded so many mags that i got a case of trigger finger in my thumb. Shit sucks.
That's their entry level model, should be around 800-850 new. I have one I had to Cerakote because the finish had worn off. It's been a great gun, probably pushing 5 figures round count. Les Baer and Valor Wessons are the best full size 1911's for the money.
My father gave me a gun when I was little, Winchester Model 94 he bought used when in the Navy. It was my second gun, first being a 870 shotgun (bb guns don't count). I don't pay any attention to it, just sits in one of the safes. I researched the serial number, manufactured in 1898.
This is my first 1911 (actually my first 45acp as well.) I'm not going over $1k, and would really prefer to be under $800. As best I can tell, the best bang for your buck in that category is the Springfield Range Officer.
"The Les Baer handmade 1911 in 24ct gold with Unicorn horn grips is the best value for the money. I have it in white gold and yellow gold" -burnttatertot
I've got a Leupold Mk8 1.1-8x CQBSS (Horus H27D Reticle) in a LT104 mount for sale for $2900 if anyone is interested. Excellent shape and phenomenal glass, just moving to something with more magnification. [media] [media] [media]
The Springfield 1911 Loaded is their best value, as it comes standard with several upgrades... it should be in your price range as well.
Was in abush/active killer training all week. I'm going to switch from my AR to this with a collapsable stock and light-bearing foregrip. Old school, kid. https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog...70_express_tactical_12ga_18_ghost_ring_sights
Unrelated, anyone in the market for a Benelli? Only has a handful of rounds through it, and it lived through a fire.
The reason I didn't get the 870 is because I discovered the Benelli, which lead to the Beretta 1301, which lead to months of indecision over price and the fact that I don't need another shotgun.
burnttatertot I've been informed that Jesse James is donating a 1911 made from Damascus somehow incorporating a piece of the Alamo into the handle for next year's NRA convention auction.
Those of us in 1911 land wish he'd just go away, go back to doing whatever the hell it is he did before this.
I feel like I should explain this more. 1911 guys are a close bunch, outsiders coming in and trying to swing their dick around isn't well received. A lot of people don't understand the history and connection these companies have. Les Baer use to run Springfield's Custom Shop. Chuck & Mark of Rock River worked for Springfield Armory in the custom shop as well. Nighthawk Custom was started by gunsmiths that worked at Wilson Combat. You get people like Cabot Guns that show up out of nowhere and start calling themselves the Rolls Royce of 1911's. They start bragging about being the only company making state of the art 1911's using "aerospace precision standards". Well, nobody in the community bought that line of shit. After realizing they were not going to get any respect (or sales) going that route, they have now hired Rob Schauland to try to save their company. Who is Rob Schauland? He's a respected member of the 1911 community, oh, and he spent years working for Les Baer and Springfield Armory as well as running his own custom shop. History. Dues paid. Jesse has neither.
Les makes some of the best 1911s on the market but Les himself looks like hes lost a few more brain cells lately. Heard him talk recently and it wasn't very coherent. Who is really running the shop now?
What was the suggestion for trigger replacement on the 9mm Shield? I'm such an asshole.. I didn't realize how much that trigger sucked until I shot a 1911. Night and fucking day difference between a safety trigger and a single action trigger feelsbadman.
burnttatertot I've decided on this for my first foray into 1911s. Thanks for all of your support throughout this process.
