Yeah we went to a couple towns that were all Germans as well. We had one of the best meals of our trip at this place in St. Llorenc that we found on tripadvisor (5 course tasting menu for 40 euros), and the owner as well as all the patrons were German. Es Pati Neu was the name of the place.

Highlight of the time in Mallorca would either have been zooming along the cliffs to the lighthouse at the end of the cape (Cap de Fomentor) or the hike we did to the peak above Alcudia. We could see minimum 30 miles in every direction, was incredible. Here's a drone flyover video of the hike (just make sure to mute the terrible sound). The day we hiked it there wasn't a cloud in the sky.

Never been to Venice, but Florence is awesome. Tell her to watch the sun rise from the Michaelangeo plaza above the city one day. They have the original David there and there's a really good art museum called the Uffizi gallery.

Rome....could give dozens of recommendations. The pope gives mass on Wednesday's but you have to request a ticket through the church. St Peter's Basilica is the most incredible man made thing I've ever seen. Tons of stuff to do there though

Rome - Other than the Vatican, the Borghese Gallery was my favorite. Old Italian Villa surrounded by a park close in the city center. Houses a lot of Caravaggios and Bernini's masterpieces. They only let a certain amount of people in at a time so it's not too crowded. Pretty cool to go there and walk back through the park to Piazza del Popolo

I've used Hotels Tonight to get laid before, but nothing more than that, and that was a while ago.

Also, just wrapping up the New England trip. I'll do a write-up. Big props to user M'ark Pepperonio because we used a whole bunch of those recommendations. Mike from the Kayak fishing tour means to tell you thanks, because I gave you props. He was a great guide btw, and we caught a bunch of striper.

Food is great. Acadia is great. Portsmouth is great. Kennebunkport could be awesome, but they had some festival for Labor Day weekend yesterday and traffic was kind of a nightmare.

Will post pics and full write-up later this week. Highly recommend for anyone looking to do a local (as in USA) trip.

I tried to go to a Hilton to get laid in Lima last week but they wouldn't accept points and wanted to charge $204 and decided it wasn't worth it so we left

End of February im going to my buddies wedding in Jamaica. Staying at the Riu Montego Bay. The gf has 100k jetblue points so we're flying virtually for free (taxes) so basically under $300 to fly. So I figure I can get a regular ass room for $1800. Or go for the suite for $2500 and shoot some pornos in the tub? Is it worth it or does the resort going to speak for itself and I'll just be out and about?

I think we'll do a midweek flight to jewdown those points as much as possible. Any idea of what activities I have to get into?

Seems like the taxes are a way for the airlines to still get their money on award tickets. I booked a business class ticket on Aeroflot to Russia for the world cup in June and paid 80k miles plus $500 in taxes. Still worth it to me because the cash price is $4200, and 80k rt for business class is an insane deal.

London may be more. Anytime I look at award flights that go to or through london its like $800 in taxes.

Girlfriend and I flew United to London then home from Edinburgh this year using miles...taxes we paid on the leg to London were fairly small, coming home was the expensive part but still less than $100 per person

I'm looking at possibly two international work trips within the next couple months, does anyone have any recommendations on a travel pillow? I'm guessing it's been discussed in here before but I'm on mobile today so the searching option is a bit of a challenge.

Girlfriend and I both have this. Really convenient to travel with because when it's deflated it can roll up pretty small. Also nice about being inflatable is you can adjust the firmness

How easy is it to get from JFK airport to Newark airport? Is taxi/uber the best way?

Google says it's less than an hour, about 40 miles. Flight I'm looking at lands in JFK at 7 AM, leaves Newark at 1:40, so it should be plenty of time regardless.

That's plenty of time, just a terribly annoying commute across manhattan, through a tunnel or bridge, then down the turnpike an exit or two

Yea depending on time of day uber/taxi works.

There is an airtrain from Newark that drops you off at like the new World Trade Center station. Somewhere in lower manhattan. It was pretty easy to use. Then just get on the correct subway line out to JFK. If you arent carrying a heavy bag.

My buddy booked a week in Puerto Plata, leaving tomorrow from Montreal. He's still not sure if the flight is leaving or if the resort will still be there in 24 hours. Looks like this storm will be dragging it's nuts right over the north coast of the DR.

Good call. Looks like there's a $28 shuttle that takes 45 min - 1 hour between the 2 airports.

Was thinking about catching a later flight and spending the day in NYC---but I'll be coming from the beaches of Ecuador to NYC in January, doubt I'll have the proper attire, or any desire to explore NY in that weather after a week+ on the beach.

It was badass. Did 3 days in Seattle and 3 days in Vancouver. Mostly hung around the cities as I didn't really have time to get out into the mountains, so I'd like to do that when I got back. Both beautiful cities, cool people, good beer and coffee. Spent a day over in West Seattle on Alki beach til sunset and really enjoyed that. Got a cocktail at Canon, cool bar but a shitshow to get in. Stayed with my friends in Queen Anne, cool neighborhood but wish some of the desirable spots were walkable, spent a decent amount on Ubers. Cool city, would definitely like to return.

I've enjoyed stays at the mercure Siam and the aloft. Doing the four points in December with spg points, have friends who stay there a lot and like it. I've been to the royal orchid and it's closer to the stuff you're trying to do in a short period of time. Little farther from the airport though

The first time I stayed at the Plaza Athenee and the second time at the Millenium Hilton. Both were very nice. The Hilton is much more convenient to the major sites. It's on the river and runs a free boat back and forth across as well which is nice and convenient.

Bangkok is a sprawling city with no good location for hotels necessarily

I stayed at the Millennium Hilton and it was v nice and the electrician accepted a bribe of $15 to not report that I set the wall on fire

Great view from the roof bar but insanely expensive drinks

The AVANI Riverside was one other nicer hotels I have ever stayed at. Think it was $115. 40th-ish floor pool/bar. It's just South if The Hilton

Quick tuk tuk/river boat to Asiatique market.

I wasn't a fan if the Millennium Hilton. It was nice, but seemed dated. We had a corner executive suite and seemed all 90s and 1/3 of the room was a massive desk that just seemed pointless.

They won me over in that we were the "guests of the day" the day we checked in so they upgraded us to a huge suite that they kept stocked with wine and fruit baskets. Not sure how the rooms and smaller suites are but ours was very modern. Agree that the lobby area was a bit dated but the rooftop lounges and bar were nice.

We checked in upstairs in the "executive" check in.

It was super nice, but felt dated. The Dim Sum restaurant there is really good. I preferred the AVANI and thry were a few blocks apart

Yes, I believe they had ferries that took you across from Asiatique, which is directly across the river.

Might have been like 10 baht which is like 1/78th of a penny, give or take.

don't care for doing a big city thing and realize this may be very limiting given the time of year but would rather not go somewhere that's freezing cold.

I always hear that's the best time of the year to visit Zion and all of Southern Utah. You don't have to deal with high season tourists and the weather is incredible during the day. Night time can get below freezing so make sure you have an appropriately rated sleeping bag if you do camp.
