How would it work if Morris were to declare to go pro? I know the Sounders hold his rights, could he just join the team mid-season, or right now?
I believe the Sounders could sign him at any time, but where is Morris going to play? They already have Martins and Dempsey. They also have Lamar Neagle who is really good and is probably better and more consistent at this stage than Morris. They also have Victor Mansaray who is a 18 year old who is really fast who can barely see the field. Really not a lot of minutes to go around for a player like Morris on Seattle right now. This is the issue with the HomeGrown players. Not a lot of SR Team minutes for younger players to develop on most teams. USL affiliation should help the situation, but most college players like Morris are not going to want to leave early to primarily play in USL.
I'm not sure that he can just sign with Seattle at any point. He turned down a generation Adidas offer last year but MLS makes up the rules as they go along so I guess we shall see.
Imagine how good Julian Green would be now if he had gone to college like Jordan Morris instead of skipping for the lower levels in Europe.
Might be right. It is MLS so it is hard to find a list of rules. It appears you can sign players at anytime, but if they go to college then the must be signed in a window before the draft. This isn't 100% clear though as Wikipedia says that Home Grown players can be signed at any time. It is MLS though, so if Morris wanted to sign over the summer, I am sure they would make it happen.
It seems like Morris is so young because he is in college, but he is 3 years older than Agudelo when he scored his first goal in 2010 and two years older than when Jozy Altidore and Landon Donovan scored his first goal. Crazy. Really should be in the pros by now.
Yeah the past few friendly matches between Mexico has felt like the ratio is steadily improving. I attribute it to just the overall popularity growth of the USMNT each cycle, and the 2nd and 3rd generation Mexican-Americans cheering for the US more than Mexico (and some not even rooting for Mexico in any case).
Question for people in the know: Is Howard planning on playing in 2018 (assuming Klinsmann wants him) or is it gonna be Yarbrough?
Guzan will likely be the 1 and Rimando could probably be the 2 as he's a great locker room guy. The 3 will be Hamid, Yarborough, and Sean Johnson and maybe Cody Cropper battling it out.
Top 3 to me would be Guzan, Rimando and Hamid...Hamid really separated himself from the other young MLS Keepers last year and made a ton of progress.
Why are people on Yarbrough's nuts all of a sudden? That is a dubious decision to hand playing time to him over Bill Hamid.
dude plays as hard as anyone, and I think he is a talented keeper, but I think he is limited by his size somewhat
Really not happy watching him dribble out of the back. He gets away with it because he only plays against inferior teams. Don't want to see that shit on the true international level.
Grant Wahl @GrantWahl Steve Cherundolo named assistant manager at Hannover. Rising quickly in the coaching world.
Zelly made top 35 prospects in England. Supposedly had a really good game this week, Arsenal went down to 10 early and lost but he set up 2 goals. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...rospects-in-English-football-in-pictures.html
Ohhhh, I see what they did there. No maybes so everything is black or white. Man, Nike, you're just so gosh darn clever.
I mean the red, white, and blue color scheme is basically a sure thing for kit design. Hard to fuck up when you factor in how patriotic people get. Unless you're Nike. Then you design pajama uniforms and uniforms that aren't even the right colors
What's funny is its on the heels of the bomb pop. The most ludicrous red white blue kit ever. But i still say it worked. Now we have no red in either kit. Thanks Nike.
I think my favorite part about it is how it makes the crowd look. A section gull of bomb pops is awesome
The best part was Nike hundreds of thousands and thousands of man hours deciding to go with a white jersey with black trim. If we actually wear those green socks then 2 out of the 3 colors on the jersey are not even national team colors and the one color that jersey manages to work in is the most plain nondescript color on the entire color wheel.
U23's vs. Mexico U23's about to kickoff on UniMas and Univision Deportes SoccerAmerica @socceramerica Up next will be #USAvMEX U23s. Here's US XI: Cropper; Sorto, Zimmerman, O'Neill, Serna; Alashe, Guido, Joya, Gil; Morris, Rodriguez
Mexico dominated the 1st Half but was 0-0 at HT. We start the 2nd Half strong and Mario Rodriguez scores off a nice Luis Gil cross.
