I would recommend against it. I watched them all last night and you really don't want to have to wait a month to see how the end of episode 4 plays out.
I'm weak. I make no promises. It actually probably won't happen until later this week. I'll try to fight it
I hate how there's never any discussions in the show thread almost makes me wanna be a book fag. Discuss faggots
It was an active thread last year. I wonder if we lost some of the active GoT posters in the great crash of '15
There's also the ones who couldn't resist watching the first four screeners and now they're avoiding the thread
I enjoyed the episode. Stoked that Drogon is back. Hopefully they have some cool shit with him this season... More than just teasers
That's a tough break Rape Ape . Maybe go do a bunch of drugs and hope you forget Jon Snow becoming Lord Commander was pretty awesome. Seems like I remember they foreshadowed near the beginning of the episode. Spoiler Part of me still thinks he's going to turn down the job and go join Stannis
Obviously don't go into the book thread because you could spoiler yourself, but it's not really as active so to speak either. The show has become it's own story, which is what they said they were going to do. By the end of this season I suspect the show and books as being completely 2 different entities being as there isn't a whole lot left that's connecting the 2. If he doesn't release the 6th book by the start of next season we really could combine the 2 threads because bookfags wouldn't know anything that's going to happen either.
so this is the first season I have watched 'live', and this is agonizing to wait a week between episodes. hoping the insightful, witty banter here will tide me over until sunday nights.
season has started off slow as shit. i'm over everything going on in Mereen. Burn it to the ground and head for the mainland. I'd really like if Brienne just disappears now that she knows nobody wants her protection. Pod can disappear with her. These two storylines and every scene dealing with them is a drag and takes away from Arya getting in that black and white house.
Deanarys better get those dragons under control. She appears very weak as a ruler without the threat of dragons (not to mention she's the mother fucking "mother of dragons"). Yes, she has the unsullied and a large army, but what made her so intimidating was the threat of dragons. Also in episode 1, when she went to the catacombs to see the two she has chained up, she seemed scared by the flames. She is still immune from fire, primarily fire from dragons, correct? With all the shit coming to a head in Mereen I can see things going poorly for her without the dragons. I'm sure Varys and Tyrion will realize this upon reaching her. Intrigued with the Dorne storyline and how Jaime and Co. going down there will play out. Stannis and Jon Snow starting to have a rift. I don't see any way this happens given Jon's character thus far.
really want jon to go with stannis and become lord of winterfel. Also got super excited when jaqn showed up
so are we to assume Winterfell is actively being rebuilt/repopulated at this time? Roose didn't seem like he gave a shit about going up there anytime soon last time we saw him and ramsey having a moment in their field
If you look at the intro in the first two eps of the season you see winterfell rebuilt and the sigil of Bolton on it. Previously it was burned down in the show intro.
I've noticed in other seasons that for the most part the places that show up in the intro are what's in the episode.
Agreed on both counts. The confident mother of dragons that was naked and kicking ass in multiple cities was a lot more intriguing than scared, self-doubting Daenerys and her pretty boy concubine. Hopefully Varys and Tyrion can improve that storyline. Brienne and Jaime were interesting; Brienne and Pod, not so much. I still hate Cersei, which is to say, I still like her character and story. Arya and Jaqen are great of course. One question that has bothered me: if Jaqen is such a badass, how did he get himself captured in season 2?
Shit. Since real Dany won't do nude anymore let's get this chick to be a body double of what should be Dany's nude scenes.
She's not immune, she has a higher tolerance for it. The scene where the dragons are born is supposed to be just a mythical, once in a lifetime type miracle.
I thought the whole thing was "fire cannot kill a dragon" which is why Mother of Lau said that Viserys wasn't a true dragon = died because of hotness
It's not necessarily 100%. Magic and the fantastical stuff in the ASOIAF is really gray, and intentionally not well defined. For instance, not all followers or priests of R'hllor can bring someone back from the dead. Not all Starks can warg and it's not clear why some can and how well each can, etc..
My wife just decided she wanted to start watching, so I've been binge watching season 1 and 2 while still watching season 5 live. It's interesting how many little things you pick up on while rewatching it that seem insignificant at the time, but come into play later.
not sure whether the season has been slow or I am just over Game of Thrones, but I have really struggled to get into the first two episodes. Some obviously cool moments in each, but it has been hard to stay completely invested I am definitely over backdoor Mereen politics though
I think the season has been slow so far, but it is only 2 episodes in. I'm still very entertained. But agree they need to do something to advance the story in Mereen or shift to other story lines. I guess my biggest 'complaint' about the show is that there's just no end in sight. I remember seeing it was originally slated for 7 seasons, then in the most recent article I read I thought the producers wanted at least 9. A brief google search yielded results of 7, 8, 9 and unknown seasons. With a year in between each season I don't know how you can do that, especially with the actors aging. Some of the best shows had a set end and didn't stray away. The Wire, Breaking Bad; both 5 seasons and had no intention of going beyond that. It may just be picking the low-hanging fruit, but Dexter tried to go as long as it could and it completely ruined the show. I realize GoT is different, given that it's following books and the producers supposedly know how GRRM wants to end things, but with nobody really sure when it ends I think they may lose some fans the longer it goes. Will gladly be proven wrong if they make 10 seasons that are all as good as seasons 1-5
I believe they are sticking with 7 seasons. I don't know what is in books 6 & 7 obviously, but I imagine it is a lot. They've trimmed down the books to the point where they have pretty much become 2 separate things now, so I think it's just going to be a cut and dry type of deal. I would love for them to go 10 seasons, but in the pre-season interviews for this season they were still sticking with 7.
It's just all set up. Jamie and Bronn going to Dorne, Arya and Jaquen in Bravos, Stannis and Jon at the Wall, Tyrion and Varys in Pentos. Everyone isn't in kind of the same area that they were so they just had to introduce all the new stuff and plotlines.
I get that it is set up, but in the past I was just as into the set up as everything else. Like I mentioned, I'm not sure if it is me or the show, but I'm just not as into it so far
