yesterday bench - 275x3, 325x3, 365x3 - no spot needed. 385x3 looks to be possible over the next few weeks squat - 365x3x3 - lower back and knees have been aching so bad. went with the box squat which had me just above parallel. made sure to pause for a count of 1 before coming back up. was still so much easier. probably could have done 405 like this. db rows - 125x5x3 - scrapped the barbell rows because those were beginning to give my lower back issues as well. these were pretty easy. highest db's in the gym. might do 5 sets of 5 from here on out instead of 3 sets.
need that shit to help. i don't have pain shooting down the back of my legs anymore, but there's still some sitting at the base of my back and it aggravates the shit out of me pretty much all day every day.
So what can I do to combat sweaty hand giving me grip issues deadlifting? Wasn't really an issue until recently with the heatwave we got here. Gloves? Chalk?
I'm not really sure, honestly. I went with the Hip Circle based on reviews and the fact that Slingshot is pretty reputable. It's going to be a nice addition to the bag, and it wasn't too expensive.
Wrist wraps and probably Rehbands are my next purchases. These http://www.inzernet.com/detail.asp?product_id=wraps_iron_wristz And these http://www.rehband.com/us/blue-line-knee-support
From everything I've read, SBDs are superior to all, including Rehbands. A bit more expensive, but not much.
From what I've seen they're both about the same just kind of depends on what you're looking for. The SBD are "tighter" all over the area and the Rehbands are curved to the knee more and not quite as snug
Joining a conventional, non-crossfit, gym because I will be making a lot of long work trips and I want to be cheaper about it since last year I hardly made use of the 150/mo I was paying for my second gym membership. Guess I have to learn to not be a gay.
Squat Bar 5x5 warm up 135 3x5 225 3x3 305 5x5 365 1x1 Now I'm sitting here watching the girls from UCLA* do planks with my dick hanging out. *university close to the local airport aka East TN state
Fuck, maybe I'm doing legs wrong. Going to start new schedule tomorrow and go in a little later in the morning so I can eat and go heavier and skip cardio. I plan on doing volume on weekends now and not trying to get it all in at once. Squat: 225 x 10 warmup 315 x 10 335 x 8 355 x 6 375 x 4 Then 225 for as close to 10 as I can get. Deadlift: 315 x 10 350 x 6 375 x 4 395 x 2 425 x 1 Sled leg press: 6 plates on each side x 10 6 and a 25 x 10 7 plates " " " 8 7 and a 25 x 4-6 Heavy calves. Volume day: Front squat light weight: 15-12 x 5 Leg extensions: Ditto Hamstring curls: Ditto Heavy calves.
It works best for me. Either 5x5 with the bar or goblet squats. By the fifth set I can take a breather and sit in a third world squat indefinitely. It just gets the blood flowing. I read about it on one of Higamonsters posts and decided to try it. I was more flexible by the time I hit work weight so I kept it up.
Dear TMB diary, It's been eight months now since I realized I was a fatty. The beer gut remains. My love for alcohol and burritos continues to be a burden on my life. But my confidence is returning. I still hate cardio.
Well the scale says 30 on most days. But, I hadn't lifted a single weight in probably 10 years. So I'm guessing the fat lost is much more than 30lbs. I'm kind of on a plateau now so I'm cutting out any and all alcohol on week nights.
Order your knee sleeves from Jackals and not from Rogue. Jackals has them cheaper and they won't say CuntFit all over them. You're also supporting a small family business and one of my friends by buying from Jackals. http://www.jackalsgym.com/store.aspx?cat_id=RH
Which straps should I get for DL and rows? I don't want to rely on them but my grip is obviously going to become a weak link first.
I think I may go with the SBDs. I think you can only get them from Anderson Powerlifting? Have you tried both?
I got a pair of these years ago and still use them. They stink like fuck now but they're still going strong. Really comfortable and help out a lot.
Shit the bed on squat and could only do 355 x 4. Didn't even try 375. I actually did better on deadlifts and got 395 x 3 and 425 x 2.
Were they ok in the washer? I'm always afraid the stitching might come loose. I usually just soak them in the sink in detergent and just rinse them out. By usually, I mean I might have done it 3 times in the 8 years I've had them. I forgot them once and came back and they were right were I took them off. No one will touch those things.
Yeah, some of the stitching isn't quite as pretty as before but it held up well enough. I figure i'll need to get a new set of sleeves from them being stretched out before anything else factors in though.
I've had my Rehband knee and elbow sleeves for at least 10 years. I run them through the washer and dryer all the time. I've never tried the SBD sleeves. As far as straps go, Ironmind is the best there is. They're simple, washable, and the strongest straps out there. They're not too big or bulky and the material is way less stiff than other brands. There's literally nothing not to like about them.
ETSU has what is likely the best exercise science (and related fields) program in the country. Undergrad, graduate, and PhD. Their S&C staff is pretty much a who's who of big name research guys right now. If (and I won't) I do well enough in grad school and hate myself enough to look at PhD's, that'll be numero uno. I approve of watching coeds with dick handing out
I would imagine so. Isn't there an OTC in Johnson City? Edit: ETSU doesn't exactly have a powerhouse athletic program where they have to invest hours on hours with a football or basketball program so that would lend to their availability. They also get a ton of help from student coaches since a lot of them are qualified or well on their way to being very qualified.
