Isn't it hard to hit those off the fairway?

Not with talent, but I also hit my 460 from the fairway so I would think it wouldn't be too hard

3wood designed to hit off the tee.

I found my 3 wood off the deck randomly and it has vanished just the same. I hit my 3wood 90degrees to the right off the deck directly after contact sunday. I wasn't even mad.

Unless you're 70 years old I find that hard to believe.

It's a sexy club in the U.S. am qualifier the other day i had 260 middle into the fan off an upslope and just roasted one that landed about 255. It's can be tough off tighter lies but I love it. Probably had it in the bag for 15 years now.

Hi yes in my two dogshit ugly rounds this past weekend I had ~9 shots between 50-75 yards and vividly remember the lone shot that was not a shank because i was so surprised it didn't go 30 yards right of me. I'm scared to death of pulling out my 58* in the fairway

got to be decelerating or something right?

What if the reason is that a full driver is 50% to miss the fairway but a long iron hits 80% of the time and still leaves a short iron to the green? Is that a wrong reason or proper use?

I had a 5.0 on my old Odyssey and liked it a lot. Then I got my Scotty and pretty much immediately put a 5.0 on it. Gotta admit I haven't putted well with it. Then last week I played with my friend's scotty that has the 3.0 and putted lights out.
My Scotty is a lot heavier than my Odyssey was. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but we shall see.

It's mathematics at this point. What hazards does driver either bring in or take out of play? Same for the iron. How tough is the rough and how much better are you from 100 yards in the fairway 80% of the time vs 40 yards in the rough 50% of the time, if at all?

The main thing you have to avoid at all costs under 100 yards are fairway bunkers. Tour players tend to average nearly the same strokes to get down from fairway bunkers from 80-180 yards.

Harvey Pennick said to close the blade on those half wedges if you've been hitting lateral shots. Can't shank with a closed face. Or try to consciously hit it on the toe. Or force yourself to roll the toe of the club over through the shot.

Could be too much lower body action forcing you to get stuck and hit it off the hosel.

Try hitting those shots with your feet together and see if that fixes it. If so, likely too much lower body action, particularly the right knee.

I use my 56 mostly and chip with it opened flat well over 60deg. I don't bump and run anything, just fly it back to the pin if I have a deep pin.

What is the avg difference in distance between this club and your driver, under ideal conditions if you had to guess?

I like the concept, but it just seems like I could buy a high lofted driver and shorten the shaft and have the same thing?

I'm probably 20 yards longer on average with my driver vs the 3 wood, but I probably only hit my driver 2-3 times per round. You could theoretically do that, but it'd cost you a lot more money since drivers are ~twice as expensive. Plus I feel like I have more control with the smaller head

Probably a life-long mizuno'er after my last two sets. old MP-37s treated me great for ~4 years and could switch back to them without a problem if I had to. Current set is a combo p-7 MP69 and 3-6 MP64. I love them and the combo set makes it so much easier since I really don't care to have a 3-4 iron in blades.

Most people think they do, but rarely do golfers actually have closer proximity to the hole 30 yards further away. Expectations can cloud the mind.

You could be the exception though.

What's the consensus here? Hard to keep up.

I'm on whatever team says a 3/4 swing with my 52* (~90-100yds) is more accurate most of the time than anything from 40-90

And that's when I'm not shanking those motherfuckers too

Maybe you're overestimating my skill. I'm probably around a 21 handicap right now. I'm not talking proximity to the cup; I'm talking on the green (anywhere) vs. off the green.

Companies offer free shaft grades because they can't sell them otherwise. Had a set of mizuno once and regretted not buying Titleist

Guys, the only good advice to Lank's shank problem is to stand farther away from the ball. In fact, I recommend that piece of advice to everybody for every situation. It works!

I prefer a full or 3/4 swing over half swings. Not because of shanks or contact issues but because of distance control. I don't practice those in between shots enough to have any touch. I'd rather leave myself somewhere between 70-110 yards. I can 3/4 or full swing my 50, 54, or 58 in that range and feel confident in my distance control.

As for your shanks, my best guess is you're decelerating going into impact. It could be because you're way inside on your backswing or you're worried about distance control and slow down at impact.

at first i assumed it was me coming in over the top of it too much / standing too close to it and hitting the hosel
tried bringing it back super inside to correct
gonna try the feet together thing next
two weekends ago I hit the range before the round and shanked ~12 in a row with the club trying all sorts of different shit and finally was just like

in my experience, if you have the shanks, it's something very basic that you're doing wrong. try getting about 30ish balls and do nothing but half swings with the club you've been shanking with. don't use any wrist whatsoever. almost like a half swing with your putting stroke, just to get the feel back of not shanking it.

I had an entire range session where I did nothing but shank wedges after I bet a UCF golfer if I beat her I could have her number in a chipping contest.

Shot 74 the next day. Those things are all fucking mental.

Shorter backswing (half to 3/4) then fire through it. Keep your shirt buttons turning left even after you think you've hit the ball (assuming you are a righty).

Mizuno makes a great club and instead of paying titleist an additional $40 per iron I can have that done for free by Mizuno.

When I'm hitting my wedges bad it's because i'm flipping my hands inside on my takeaway. Either that or decelerating.
