To maintain my sanity. If we keep this pace we will have damn near 20 draws, not gonna make the top 4 that way.
The funniest part of that is it's back to back games vs the same opponent at the same venue in different competitions. When's the last time that happened for Tottenham?
Lots of reports that Kane will be rested tomorrow, praise the lord. I'd give Dier and Toby/Jan a break for sure too. They have been warriors for us this season, playing almost every minute in all comps.
Only way we don't top the group is by losing combined with Anderlecht winning. We are plus 2 in GD on them right now, but obviously if we lose and they win the best it will be is tied in GD.
Chadli and Bentaleb back in training, going to need as many of the lads fit as possible for the hectic festive period. Mo has left open the possibility they could return as early as tomorrow, maybe one or both will be on the bench. Dembele is out of training with a stomach bug, Mason and Pritchard are the only long term injuries to report. Feel bad for Pritch, thought he had a chance to establish himself a bit this season. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...and-nacer-chadli-return-to-tottenham-training
I thought there was a solid chance that Onomah may get his first start for us, pretty exciting IMO. He has shown some flashes of quality in his limited time on the pitch this season, could be our next first team contributor from the youth set up to break through. Half of our CB partnership gets a rest, Wimmer will pair Toby at the back. I'm glad to see him get some action as well, he has been exceedingly patient. CCV makes the bench, been killing it with U21's apparently. Chadli and Bentaleb back to health and available from bench. Alli, Jan, Kane, and Eriksen with much deserved breaks from the starting 11. Kane and Alli still up for selection if needed.
Only way we don't top the group is if we lose, Anderlecht win, and they score 3 more goals than we do tonight. The 3rd tiebreaker is the amount of goals scored and we have 8, they have 6 going into tonight. We lost 2-1 away to them and won 2-1 at home so the head to head tiebreakers are split.
Toulalan must have lived a rough 32 years, he starts at the back for Monaco. Dude looks at least 42. I respect him embracing the silver though.
LAMELA! In the 2nd minute, that was quick. Very nice press and attack, solid ball by Davies. The young lads aren't missing a beat thus far. N'Jie tracking that ball down in the corner was the difference leading up to it.
Already more attacking threat in 2 minutes than the entire Liverpool abortion I just subjected myself to.
N'Jie and Onomah really putting in work there, Onomah with the nice meg pass but Clinton was slightly offside.
Onomah looks legit from everything he has shown this season IMO. He is popping up everywhere with quality passes and is leading the charge on the break this match. Almost put Son through on goal just now, blocked a cross when tracking back on defense. Love the all white uniforms.
If Clinton had any kind of touch he could be a dangerous player, Onomah looking way classier on the ball.
Remembered hearing during the WBA match that we have the most goals scored from set pieces in league play this season. How far we have come, we used to be the worst at corners and shit. Need to defend them better but the lads clearly do a lot of offensive set piece work and draw up some fresh plays weekly.
Dier with fresh ink on the neck, kind of detracts from his throwback charm. I still love him and glad to see him get up quickly after that stamp.
