He sucks so much. I didn't mind the trade, since we didn't give up much. It was basically them just making a trade to make a trade. They already spent actual resources on actual relievers. So they weren't going to give up more actual talent for a guy at the end of the pen. But Smith blows. He needs to be released.
Piscotty is good. So is Rondon. Tough break. A split is fine although you hate to cough up leads. Just glad Rondon is okay, missing location bad but velocity is there.

Man I hope the we crush the Reds our last two series. I've got an idiot VP in my department that went on and on today on how you can tell the Reds are on the right track with the way they've been playing since the all star break and that the Cubs window is only going to be two years and then the Reds will be top dog in the central. I had to try and explain to him that a core of Suarez, Votto, and some 3B in the minors is not the same as having the core of Rizzo, Bryant, Baez, Contreras, Russell, and Schwarber and also that our 3rd pitcher in the rotation would be their ace.
All 5 of our starters would be the Reds #1. They're not in good shape. Should've held off on trading Chapman.
Cubs are first in plate appearances with the bags loaded, fifth in average and fifth in OPS in all of MLB. http://www.espn.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/batting/split/94/sort/avg/order/true
That makes me feel better. Seems like we're a hell of a lot worse. Could be all of the opportunities I guess. I think KB is now 1-12 on the year with the bags packed though.
Great work out of Cahill and the bullpen. Fuck Matt Garza. No reason not to sweep the double header now.
It's definitely a function of all the opportunities. Those feel like situations where you have to cash in. But all teams are going to fail more than they succeed. With a worse team, who isn't getting on base as much and not seeing as many of those opportunities, you don't notice it as much. With us, it's happened over and over again, to the point that we notice it. It seems like it's becoming a trend. When in reality, that happens to everyone, but it's just not as noticeable.
Rizzo is quickly becoming my favorite Cub ever. Right up there with Sammy. Ryno was a tad before my time.
5 minute replay review and they still get it wrong. Terrible. Hopefully that doesn't bite us in the ass.
Wish Hammel's pitch count was lower. It would be nice to see him complete this and save the pen some wear and tear.
Really good. I especially enjoyed the Rizzo catch and the Javy bomb. Though, the pitching was nice, too.
