And the first run was from a Baez single the other way, then a Baez stolen base, then Addi getting Baez over to third with a grounder, then a sac fly.
Breaking ball low and away and he hits a line drive home run to left field. Barely cleared the fence, but a HR is a HR. Fuck you, Grichuk.
Oh my god you guys. Marty Brennaman just cried like a baby because Cubs fans are chanting while whooping the Reds' ass. https://twitter.com/ZachBernardFW/status/723694322978283520
I could get used to this if this is how going to Cubs games is going to be. We had some pretty great Reds fans sitting behind us tonight that I was joking back and forth with. They left in the sixth but as they were going one of the guys said, "Congrats on winning the division this year." That Brennamen rant is gold. I've always told reds fans he's a hack.
Heyward 8-17 last 5 games. Batting avg has gone from .170 to .243 since April 19th Rizzo 2nd bomb of the day, 8th on the year.
Eh, variance and sequencing, and our bad relief pitchers got roughed up. Lackey looked alright and got done in by one bad pitch. The offense was fine. Chalk it up to: Shit happens. And now we go back to doing the roughing up.
My girlfriend was asking me how they go from dominating to games like yesterday. Pretty much gave her the same answer. It's a 162 game season. You're gonna have some bad games. You lose 60 games and you've had great season. Dats bazeball.
Love that we got a guy like Tommy LaStella on the bench. Great approach and the dude can hit. Would start for about 20 other teams.
Been checking on Starlin's stats sporadically this year. Looks like he's starting to come back to earth.
This, I love reading the Doom and Gloomers trying to figure out those bad games and how those will catch up the team. I mean fuck it's baseball, 95% of the time every team is going to lose at least 60 games that year. We are what 6 games up already I can live with that, the only games I get down about were the ones were we got shutout but we are sure to have more.
So the Rule IV draft looks to be one of the weakest in some time, which is great considering the beloved don't pick for awhile.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-cubs-are-the-best-base-running-team-too/ This pretty much describes everything great that we've seen this year.
Big Dan's off to a hot start. On the season, he's at: .362/.456/.552 with 9/21 BB/K Things are going well for a lot of hitters down on the farm. Almora: .344/.389/.500 with 6/8 BB/K Contreras: .375/.419/.446 with 4/7 BB/K The Tennessee lineup is loaded. A lot of patient hitters. Chesny Young: .382/.506/.529 with 16/6 BB/K and also 10 SB Bijan Rademacher .385/.515/.673 with 13/9 BB/K Victor Caratini: .259/.412/.389 with 14/13 BB/K Jeimer Candelario: .217/.345/.377 with 14/16 BB/K They've also got Mark Zagunis and Billy McKinney in Tennessee, who've both gotten off to slow starts, but have always been among our most disciplined hitters. Candelario also got off to a slow start, but he is starting to get hot and had a double, a homer, and two walks today. Jacob Hannemann is also off to a decent start, hasn't been striking out as much, and has 9 SB on the season. Our first- and second-round picks from last year are both doing quite well. Ian Happ is off to a fantastic start at Myrtle Beach, hitting .313/.450/547 with 15/18 BB/K and has 3 HR and 3 SB. Donnie Dewees, at South Bend, is hitting .369/.419/.631 with 7/8 BB/K and has 6 SB. Gleyber Torres is of to a slow start, but he does have 11 BB and has hit for a little pop. Some of our more talented prospects and younger guys, like Gleyber, Eloy Jimenez, and Eddy Julio Martinez are all off to slow starts. There's a few decent sleeper prospects in A-ball and high-A, like Jason Vosler that have done well, though. The pitching hasn't been great. There's some bottom-of-the-rotation and bullpen-type guys that have been alright. A few guys have struggled. Most of our top pitching prospects have yet to see any action, though, for various reasons: Dylan Cease, Duane Underwood, Oscar De La Cruz, Bryan Hudson. Things should look more interesting in the pitching department once those guys get going.
