Sounds like Montgomery for Vogelbach. Great deal for us if that's it. Even with a lower tier prospect thrown in I like it. Vogy to the AL makes sense obviously.
Looking at the splits on Montgomery he can be very effective for us in that bullpen match up vs Lefty role. Really like this pick up.
I don't know much about other guys outside of the central division and I will never know as much about baseball as 70% of the guys out there but from what the experts are saying and Montgomery's numbers he will be a welcome addition to the pen, especially in situations against lefties. Seems like a win win for both teams and Vogelbach would likely never see the majors with the cubs but is still a decent bat he helps the Mariners build towards the future and we can a solid arm for the pen. Now I'm also hearing we are after some starting pitching as well, not sure what thats all about but I will leave that unto Theo and Hoyer. I'm hoping to add another good arm to the pen to help solidify it and get us back to closing out games.
Matthew Trueblood @MATrueblood 2h2 hours ago The more I look, the more I like Montgomery. There's a ton to work with for the Cubs, the velo, the arsenal, the role flexibility. And if he never gets an iota better despite all that, he's already a solid relief arm. Good trade. Trueblood's insufferable at times, but I don't view him as the type to call something "good" unless he really feels that way. And I respect his opinions
No. Don't think he was ever in consideration. Really think the As and Cubs are going to pull something off soon.
@jonmorosi Sources: #Cubs are looking at Josh Reddick. Bat coming around after missing nearly 6 weeks with fractured thumb. Theo drafted him in Boston.
Heyman: The Cubbies are nothing if not creative. And word is, they are one of a couple teams to have inquired about young, talented Mariners pitchers James Paxton and Taijuan Walker – two names that to date haven’t been heard on the market.
If the sox turned down a kings randsom for Sale, I am not sure they would be open to moving Quintana either.
With Vogelbach moving out of Cubs top 30, MLB Pipeline (Callis and Mayo) has added Albertos to top 30 (at #10). Says Albertos shut down because of forearm soreness. Below is the complete blurb: Scouting grades: Fastball: 60 | Slider: 50 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 50 | Overall: 50 Albertos originally signed with the Mexican League's Tijuana Bulls before the Cubs purchased his rights in a July 2015 deal valued at $1.5 million. He looked spectacular in his U.S. debut in 2016, striking out seven in four one-hit innings. He came down with soreness in his forearm shortly afterward, so Chicago decided to shut him down until instructional league as a precaution. Albertos doesn't have a ton of projection remaining in his 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame, but he doesn't need it because his present stuff already is impressive. He operates with a 93-95 mph fastball and can reach 97, showing the ability to throw it for strikes on both sides of the plate. He's still refining his secondary pitches but already flashes a well above-average changeup and a solid slider. More advanced than the typical teenaged pitcher, Albertos has good command of his pitches and can add and subtract from them. He's years away from Wrigley Field at this point, but he has the upside of a frontline starter if he can stay healthy.

And it looked like they got married in court because they figured he'd stick all year and wouldn't have time. That fucking blows.
Good way to spoil a lead off triple. Montero can't get him in (of course) then we bunt with Hammel. Not a fan.
Got to pinch hit for Hammel there. No desire to see him face Braun and Lucroy a third time. Montero...#youarentgood
Lucroy just made him his bitch. Seems like he takes a bit to settle in. 6-7 innings of 2 run baseball would be alright.
Hopefully this is the last time we see Richard in a Cubs uni. But I've said that multiple times in the past so probably not. And he hits a guy trying to give him an out. Just awful.
Any chance Richard can slice up tomorrow's unis? Guy is fucking garbage and needs to be DFA immediately
