They should have just added it as a third hour of dynamite then. Still billing it as rampage and having a women’s tag team match (which would be fine for a rampage) as the culmination of three hours is just asking for people to change channels at 10
Eddie is just a very good pro wrestler. He’s not as versatile as some guys but he’s really good at what he does. It’s really too bad he couldn’t drop 20-25 lbs because I think people would recognize him for what he does more
I just don't think any of his strikes/offense look good good on the mic and does a good job of selling but thats about it for me
If he would just stick to the Mick Foley type out of shape brawler with his promo skills he would be money, but he wants to cosplay as a strong style Japan wrestler and it just isn’t going to work.
hopefully they do a DQ finish or something because Takeashita shouldn't take another L, even to Swerve
He's been working his ass off with Cezar Bonini and you could see it tonight. He was noticeably thinner.
I’d like to see them tone it back a little on the amount of street fight matches they have, but they pretty much always deliver.
Don't want it 3 hours every week but it flew by tonight. Street Fight was a ton of fun that'll probably have something stupid like 500k viewers. Don't care. Had a blast. Great crowd tonight too. I enjoyed seeing the camera sweep around the arena and every section packed
I think that's what didn't land for me with the "I Quit" match is we've seen people like Darby and Moxley and Swerve/Hangman do absolutely insane shit that it sets the bar so high for hardcore matches in AEW 500K for Rampage would be the best it's done in like a calendar year, which is why this probably results in 3 hour Dynamites under the new TV deal
Last one came with the ROH Honor Club subscription. I have yet to hear what the plan is for Supercars of Honor at WrestleMania weekend though
The women normally only have like two a year it seems. I very much appreciate how they always take the opportunity very personally and go balls to the wall with them.
Anna Jay was pretty damn good in the two tag street fights she was in. Skye Blue was great tonight. She’s been wanting to do a street fight for a long time and she is crazy to begin with - as a kid she intentionally lit a kid on fire in church just because she didn’t like him lol.
Was that the match where Baker no sold thumbtacks? Maybe the only person in wrestling history to ever do that.
Bowens is not a bad promo, but not good enough to get into the main event scene. Otherwise he has all the other abilities. And I’ll take a 3 hour Dynamite over the current AEW TV schedule all day.
He also tries to do those combo strikes that look awful. Stick to the suplexes and chops and he is a fun watch. I like Eddie, not trying to knock him at all.
Another really solid episode. Mone is not for me but she has her following. Weak on the mic. I still say pair her with Stoke and let them cook. Ospreay is the MVP of 2024 so far. I can't wait to see how his year unfolds. His promo skills are so much better than I thought they would be, and very unique. I don't want to short change Swerve's impending title run, but I'm already pumped about Ospreay winning the title at All In. I guess that's a good problem to have, two original talents who are hot enough that everybody is ready to see them win the World Title. Ring work was great tonight, even Hook/Jericho was entertaining. Roster is loaded and still not back to full strength. Glad to see storylines developing and not just random ass matches. Hoping Okada can do for the Continental Title what Gunther did for the IC Title.
Stoke is a heel manager managing a couple of natural babyfaces. Mone is a natural heel. Stoke turning on his duo to manage Mone seems like the most obvious thing to do (obvious isn't bad)
I know it's semantics, but the "CEO" character really can't be managed by anyone. maybe have Stokely go work for her.
Sasha/Mercedes has never been a good promo to me. Don't think throwing her out there for the regular debut promo they always do was the best use of her. Think instead of the CM Punk intro being rehashed, they should have brought her immediately into an angle and in ring stuff. Use video packages too. Handing her a mic and telling her to go isn't the best use of her. Maybe some people like her promos, but I've always thought they were mediocre at best
She has gotten a LOT better from her NXT days, where she used to be made fun of all the time for looking at anyone but the person she was actually talking to. But after ten years, this is probably as good as she's going to get.
to me she plateaued relatively quickly then Alexa and Britt came along with better versions of her gimmick
Just like Deonna Purazzo has a promo voice that sounds like she’s watching someone strangle puppies off camera, Sasha sounds like someone who has been waiting at the DMV for 3 hours, it’s that annoyed semi flustered voice. She comes off unconvincing as a babyface. This is someone that used to make the fans, male or female, stand 6 feet away from her pre COVID at photo ops and meet n greets.
Having Sasha cut long promos is not doing her any favors. Her promo isn’t as bad as some are making it out to be. So weird she went to the wrestling company and is doing sports entertainment out the gate.
