So supposedly we're going after the next Neymar. Not sure how I feel about adding a Brazilian, even if his nickname is Gabigol
In my uneducated opinion I'd rather have Gabriel Jesus from Palmeiras but Gabigol is a fantastic name and he looks to be a real talent. Anybody know if Gabigol is one of those nightmares who's owned by like 5 entities?
With a name like that I expect no less. I have zero faith in a South American purchase that's not already on the European continent.
Saw Gabigol play in Copa Libertadores and some with Brazil. Not very impressed, sure he is talented but not the next Neymar.
Explain to me why this wouldn't work?pretty flexible too. Can replace nacho with a winger and be more attacking. Or drop chambers for Xhaka and put Jack in front of him (til he breaks).
Main problem with 3 at the back is that you're at a disadvantage when playing against only 1 central forward, which a lot of the league does. You end up with 3 CBs marking one man or get pulled out wide against much faster players. 3 at the back is usually best against a front 2 where you gain an extra player in midfield (or when you're best players happen to be 3 CBs). I've always wanted to see us use a 4-2-2 though with Santi for Chambers.
Of course it's not gonna happen, it's Wenger Think the thought process is that we want to give Ramsey some freedom and be able to attack without his flaws hurting us while addressing our weak options on the wing. Right now, we have Xhaka certainly as our dm, Ozil as our 10, and Alexis on the left or right. A whole lot of questions to how we build the best side in the other 3 positions.
Do think Xhaka can give Ramsey the structure to play the b2b role again and Cazorla and Xhaka together isn't a great fit. Just no clue who plays opposite Alexis, would like some pace but not when those options are Theo and Ox
Liked Ramsey on the right with Bellerin overlapping. Depending on signings I wouldn't mind using him out there. You got Xhaka now with the CBs who can drop in and cover that space and it gives both guys a ton of freedom in the attack. Really want Rodridguez now because that would be the best pair of attacking FBs in the world.
Completely agree Ramsey plays best centrally with freedom, my argument was just against 3 at the back.
I realize 3 at the back might not be great against a lone striker, but if you put someone like Xhaka in the middle with two natural CBs it functions similarly to a back 4 with a DM in front while attacking and flattens into a back 5 when defending.
My thought process was trying to get the best of Ramsey without disrupting Özil while solidifying the D and freeing up Hector a bit.
Still comes down to the same problems without someone being able to stretch things. Gonna get pressed high and then just sit in the box on us. Really need something dynamic up top at this point. Id be okay not buying anything on the back line with xhaka, el nen, and Coq all being able to tow the line. Can't go into the year relying on Theo or ox again.
Yeah it sucks for him, but selfishly I'm glad it's looking like he's staying. He's such a great insurance policy for Cech.
