Season 6 debuted tonight. What's the theme for the season? I'll have to watch it later since it comes on at Mr. Robot time.

Looks like the theme is a haunted farm. Made it 15 minutes and changed it.

Yeah I liked the first episode too. I appreciate the uniqueness, just not sure if I like it better than the format of the previous seasons. Can't be any worse than the Freak Show season though.

However, I'm pretty disappointed that this isn't actually about the Roanoke Colony. The jump scares are kinda lame, but that's more actual scary stuff than most of the seasons had even though it's the cheapest form of scare tactics.

After two episodes, this seems like a repackaging of the Murder House season. Change the characters and format up, add a bit more outdoors into the mix, but in the end it's ultimately a haunted house story.

If you think you know American Horror Story: Roanoke, you don’t. The latest season of FX’s anthology series has now aired two episodes, focused on a supernatural reality series called My Roanoke Nightmare. Many fans have their theories about where this season is going. Well, AHS viewers, ready to have your mind blown in a few weeks.

“You’ll see starting in episode 6, the show has a huge turn and the thing that you think you’re watching is not what you’re watching,” co-creator Ryan Murphy reveals to EW.

The plot of Roanoke was obviously the major secret that the AHS team had to protect, but they were also hiding this massive surprise. “Even though the subject matter has gotten out, it’s irrelevant because nobody gets what we’re doing,” says co-creator Brad Falchuk. “No matter what you think it is, it’s not that. Then, episode 6 comes and you’re like, ‘Wait! What happened?’”

Adds Murphy, “It’s a hat on a hat on a hat on a hat that we’ve had to protect.”

While Murphy thinks the twist separates the season into two halves, Falchuk considers it three unique stories. He says, “It’s like [episodes] 1-5, 6-9, and 10 is its own thing.”

Ok. Now Im more intrigued. Ive always thought the whole Roanoke story in history was interesting anyway.

There’s something off about the letter “M” in “American Horror Story: Roanoke,” and it’s giving us chills

There’s something off about the letter “M” in “American Horror Story: Roanoke,” and it’s giving us chills

    American Horror Story: Spoilers.

Here’s the quick rundown, you know, in case you’re not up to speed as to what’s happening on Roanoke…or you’ve stumbled here by accident, “Why is everyone so obsessed with Roanoke right now?”

The Roanoke house that Matt and Shelby are calling home right now is most definitely haunted. It used to be an assisted living facility, but instead of actually helping patients, the two nurses in charge — Bridget and Miranda — killed their patients instead. They also killed the patients based on the first letter of their first name, looking to spell out MURDER.

They got all the way through M, U, R, D, and E before ~something~ drove them out of the house, but their spray painted MURDE still remains on the wall. It’s very spooky, and more importantly, weird.

What’s even weirder is that the M on the wall changes DRASTICALLY. Not even just a little, but like, the M was once in an early ’90s movie where it got a major makeover, and suddenly caught the eye of the most popular boy in school.

As fyeahahs points out (also, F YEAH, AHS!), there’s something fishy going on here:

This is how the M is originally spray painted:

    murder

This is how the M looks shortly after the paint has dried. Where are the drip, drip, drips?

Screen Shot 2016-09-21 at 7.42.30 PM

The M goes through another transformation when Matt removes the wallpaper:

    one

When the MURDE ~reappears~ after being painted over…also different:

    two

And lastly, Entertainment Weekly released another angle of the MURDE, and now the M is like, balloon letters??

    Cs-gFsSXEAAKnPP

Let’s start off with the obvious: Wut. Like…how does that M just magically change from scene to scene during AHS? More than likely, this is just a continuity error and someone’s handwriting was a little bit ~off~ while they were painting this giant MURDE.

OR, this means that this Murde is not the original Murde, and someone else has come through the Murde House and messed everything up. Or, you know, this is the just the ~documentary~, and like anything goes.

It’s still a very interesting thing to note. It might be nothing, or it could be EVERYTHING.

Thinking this is just someone missing the forest for the one tree and reading too much into one letter as all the other letters are minusculey different in each of the pictures. I'm also guessing that last picture is from a practice run or something since the letters are not even the vicinity of similar to the other pics.

This could be just the difference in camera angles, but the "U" in the second picture almost as a "V" shape in the negative space while it's much more U shaped in the third picture.

Additionally with the R. Second picture, the vertical bar of the R sticks out above the loop part, on the other pictures it doesn't.

The "D" is also different. Look at the bottom 'corner' of the D in the 2nd and third pictures. It's concaved in that corner on the second picture, in the third picture it's just a jagged corner.

Likewise, the "E" is different. Top corner of the "E" in the second picture, it juts out at about a 45 degree angle. Third picture, it sticks out completely vertically. Fourth picture, it points out completely horizontally.

Likely they ended up having to do multiple takes while using multiple versions of the MURDE "painting" and they didn't make exact carbon copies. Unless this was all done intentionally for the story.

It wasn't faked, though. It was a retelling of what happened according to Shelby and Matt, although the producers of the show didn't buy their stories beyond thinking it made for good television. Matt and Shelby went through the shit that was depicted on the show.

Hoping the Dandy angle comes back around somehow. Show needs more Dandy.

It felt like they started killing people off too quickly, like the film crew being dead the first night. Seemed rushed to get it over with. Also the idea that the cast have super batteries on their cell phones and want to keep recording themselves getting hunted before dying? Not good writing.

American Horror Story Renewed For Seasons 8 & 9

Early renewals are nothing new in television, as networks are often eager to announce additional seasons of successful programs as a way to encourage viewers to remain committed, and get those on the fence tuning in as well. In essence, giving those at home a reason to be as invested as the network is. That generally comes into play with new programs still looking to attract an audience, but the incentive still works when it comes to shows that have been around a while, too, like Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s American Horror Story.

Coming off a visually revamped sixth season that took the show’s normally over-the-top and lush production values and stripped them down to a mix of found-footage horror and a sardonic take the recent resurgence in the true crime subgenre, the long-running horror anthology maintained its foothold as a ratings winner and easily secured an early renewal for season 7. Not long after, Murphy began offering some details on what viewers could expect from the series’ future, teasing a potential crossover season between the witches of Coven and Murder House. The idea struck a chord apparently; FX has plans to see AHS stick around a while after season 7.

At the TCA Winter Press Tour 2017, the network announced that it has already renewed American Horror Story for two additional installments beyond the already announced season 7. That’s right, AHS will be around for seasons 8 and 9 – though, as you may have already guessed, no details were given on what fans might expect.

CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions John Landgraf said in a statement:

“American Horror Story launched the modern limited series revolution and – as evidenced by the most recent installment ‘Roanoke’ – it remains as vital today as when Murder House stunned audiences six years ago. Each new chapter is a cultural event, beloved for every new twist in imagery, style, cast and plot. We are thrilled that Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and the entire creative team will continue to deliver the groundbreaking, celebrated American Horror Story for years to come.”

The early renewal for two additional seasons on top of one that hasn’t even aired yet is about as concrete a sign of confidence in a series as a network can give. And it’s one that makes a lot of sense. According to FX:

“The American Horror Story franchise has won 15 Emmy Awards and dominates FX’s top telecasts of all time. In P18-34, for example, 12 of the Top 15 most-watched FX telecasts ever are AHS telecasts.”

Additionally, according to FX, season 6, Roanoke, was the top-rated limited series on television in 2016, and overall ranked just below The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones with adults in the coveted 18-49 and 18-34 demographics.

Since launching American Horror Story, Murphy and Falchuk have gone on to bring the network even greater success with the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, which is set to continue as an anthology and probe the fallout of Hurricane Katrina, and by all accounts they have another star-studded hit on their hands with FEUD: Bette and Joan. The third anthology from the dynamic duo takes a look at famous celebrity feuds, this time focusing on the one between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. As evidenced by Murphy’s past success, the series was able to bring in Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange, as well as Stanley Tucci and Alfred Molina to star.

American Horror Story will likely always be contentious amongst viewers, but perhaps that’s a key part of its continued ratings success. Nine seasons is a long time for a series to run – especially on a cable network that’s constantly looking for fresh new ideas. There’s no word on whether or not season 9 may be groomed to be the anthology’s last, or if the series’ ability to reinvent itself means AHS could be running for a long time to come. At any rate, we now know it’ll be around for three more seasons at least.

American Horror Story Crossover Season Details Revealed

If there’s one thing American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy proved last year, it’s that he knows how to get people talking. Unlike prior seasons, in which information slowly but surely trickled out leading up to premiere day, AHS season 6 spent months shrouded in mystery, with absolutely nothing concretely revealed about the season prior to its premiere on FX. This strategy proved quite divisive with fans, but at the end of the day, it would appear that most of those fans tuned in regardless.

What they were treated to was American Horror Story: Roanoke, a season which broke the AHS mold in many ways. Presented in the style of popular paranormal documentary series like A Haunting, Roanoke embraced the found-footage style of horror storytelling, while adding in twists and turns never before seen in an AHS season. One assumes that FX must have been impressed by the season’s performance, as the network recently picked up the series for 3 more seasons.

While it’s currently unclear what the themes of AHS seasons 7, 8, and 9 will be, one thing Murphy did reveal around last Halloween was his plan to produce a crossover season that combined characters and settings from both the Murder House and Coven seasons. It would stand to reason that this crossover will be one of the next 3 seasons to be produced, but time has illustrated that nothing is ever really guaranteed with Murphy and the AHS crew. In a recent conversation with EW, Murphy offered new details about the coming crossover:

“It’s a character from season 1 that will be thrust into the world that you are left with at the end of Coven, which is sort of like the male/female/witch academy. And then all of those characters will intertwine, which is confusing because some of them are from seasons 1 and 3. Like, Sarah Paulson will probably be playing 18 characters.”

Playing multiple characters will certainly be nothing new for the seemingly endlessly versatile Paulson, who last year played both uptight British actress Audrey Tindall and Shelby Miller — the character Audrey played in the early reenactment episodes of Roanoke. To top things off, Paulson also made a cameo appearance near the end of the season as her Asylumcharacter, intrepid reporter Lana Winters. Between AHS and The People v. O.J. Simpson,Paulson has arguably become Murphy’s muse, and there’s no reason to doubt that she’ll be up to whatever challenge he presents her during the crossover season.

Perhaps the biggest question concerning the crossover at present is just which Murder Housecharacter will be “thrust into the world” of Coven. With all the repeat cast members between the two seasons, actors like Taissa Farmiga and Evan Peters could very well end up talking to later versions of themselves, in the form of their Coven characters. Then again, this could also represent a chance for Murder House principals like Dylan McDermott or Connie Britton to finally make a full-on return to the series. McDermott played a small role in Asylum, and Britton hasn’t been back at all since Murder House.

Season 2 is the best season. I liked season 1 also. After season 2 it gets worse and worse.

My rankings would be Asylum, Coven, season 1, Hotel, Freak Show and don't even watch Roanoke it's unwatchable and might be the worst season of television I have ever seen.
