Just curious at the breakdown between full bookfag (up through ADWD) partial bookfag (read at least AGOT) or showfag. I'm up through ASOS, so the second option.
I heard about the TV series. My brother started reading right as the first season began. I picked up the first book during season 1 but did not watch season 1. I finished book 1,2, and 3 before i watched the first season. Read book 4 and 5 this year. Have not started Season 2.
Season 2 is solid. The whole series is fun to watch to get an idea of what places look like but they are nothing compared to the books.
Yea i saw some of the previews and bits and pieces of the show before i picked up the book so i already had a good idea of what some of the cast looked like while i was reading. But like you said, its fun seeing some of these places that you have been imagining. I hear Harenhal is bad A
i started reading GoT after the first season started. i finished it as soon as the season ended. i finished ADWD in december.
I got my e-reader and went crazy. I was reading all the time and someone suggested GoT (about a year and a half ago). Read GoT and was hooked. Read them all in quick order (probably too fast). I'm on my second read of the series now and they are much better. I know who people are and why they are important (or not important). The story is great, obviously, but the deeper stuff is great as well. Picking up so much this time.
I want to go back and re read them. I may try to do it this summer. There is undoubtedly tons of information that i skipped right over.
Watched the first season, then read all the books. Im not one to complain about the show differing from the books. Although the first season was much closer to the first book than the second season has been to the second book. I've think they've done a pretty good job of adapting the series to tv. Voted full bookfag.
started reading in 2003. niggers. EDIT: 2002. I remember freaking out in 8th grade when the sex parts would come up because I thought someone around me would see it and tell the teacher.
it seems like theyve tried to stick to the book as much as possible and nearly did it perfectly in the first season. but the story starts to become so immense during the 2nd book that it just has to be cut down.
heard about the HBO series, saw it mentioned on here and then saw some previews and thought it looked great. I think I watched the first episode before I started reading but I can't remember. Either way I plowed through the 1st book and stayed ahead of the series after that and then finished the other 4 books soon after.
Watched the first few episodes of GoT and picked up the book at the airport and now I am about a quarter of the way through ASOS. I know nothing.
Saw thread on TMB. Series started but I didn't watch. Thread stayed on first page and got huge by halfway through the season, so I went back and watched. Started the books, and have been addicted ever since. Have now read whole series twice and the dunk and egg tales. No idea how I will make it once season two ends.
Would love to become a bookfag but with a job, a wife and a 1 year old I decided to cut corners and just became a showfag. Bought the DVD of season 1 a couple weeks ago, finished last night, now downloading season 2 online.
lot of liars in this thread...saying they read the whole series 4 or 5 years ago... ADWD just came out last summer
Started watching the show on on demand one day when I was sick and couldn't stop. I had never even heard of it before and I started reading the books right after. I'm almost through Book 4 and about to start season 2 of the show.
Halfway through book 2 now, hoping to finish book 3 by the time season 3 starts.... yeah I read books painfully slow.
Read through all of the books once. Wish I had time to read them again to look for all the stuff I missed the first time.
Believe it was NYGator that recommended this series to me after I had caught up with Wheel of Time, or maybe one of the Fambuleh members? It was definitely one of the two. Read the books as fast as I could and then waited for fucking ever for ADWD to come out. Now if that fat fuck would finish the series before he dies. Oh well at least the final book of Wheel of Time is out soon.
