And now the team can push for 2 full stadium sellouts. One for the inaugural game (Dome) and then for the first game at M-Benz.
Atlanta United FCVerified account @ATLUTD #ATLUTD signs first player, Alexander Tambakis http://atlutd.com/atlanta-united-signs-first-player-begins-to-build-roster/… Greek-American playing for Panathinaikos iirc. He had a youth callup by the USA.
if youre wanting to google him, he alternately spells his name 'Alexandros Tampakis' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandros_Tabakis
Atlanta United FCVerified account@ATLUTD .@juniorburgos10 joins @TampaBayRowdies on loan from #ATLUTD http://atlutd.com/67539-2/
So I guess ATL United signed a midfielder from the Silverbacks named Junior Burgos from El Salvador. He's been loaned to the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the NASL for the season.
radio interview with Eales http://atlanta.cbslocal.com/audio/john-hugh/ says that they will try to go with younger up and comer international route - they like the giovinco mold better says he wants to be a stopping point for big club exhibitions given we are on east coast and have the airport
I know there is another supporters group called Resurgence. http://www.resurgenceatl.com/ I like the logo more than Terminus Legion.
there have been multiple groups for a while. Eales said we already have 3 Terminus Legion Footie Mob Resurgence
Seems logical that a bunch of groups were started when the club was announced...and as the franchise becomes a reality that most fans will rally around 1 large Group (Terminus Legion). We are still <12 months away from that happening. With so many different neighborhoods and towns in Atlanta it might make sense to have a supporters section of Buckhead, Decatur, etc. Hope there isnt as much overlap in the stuff they do for tailgates or away matches....but the more fans engaged the better iyam.
Atlanta United send four more players to Charleston for an Invitation Camp By Rob Usry @RobUsry on Feb 12, 2016, 10:30a + The Charleston Battery are holding an Invitation Camp on Friday afternoon which is expected to host nearly 30 different players. All players will be competing for a few select spots on the Battery's roster for the 2016 season. Atlanta United's first ever signing, Alexander Tambakis, will be in attendance, but he won't be the only AUFC-affiliated player to take part in the camp. Along with the goalkeeper, Atlanta United are also sending over four more players to take part in the camp. Fans of Atlanta United FC may be interested in this year's camp roster. In addition to Tambakis â the club's first-ever signing â Atlanta is sending along three American youth internationals and at least one veteran professional from Ecuador. The academy prospects are U.S. U17s Andrew Carlton (midfielder) and Christopher Goslin (midfielder), both of them participants in the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. They'll be joined by a third academy player from Georgia. All three are expected to arrive Friday evening and participate over the weekend. Three Atlanta-area youth players will be joining Charleston for this camp. Andrew Carleton and Christopher Goslin are both heading the U.S. Soccer U-17 Residency Program will join Charleston along with a third unknown youth player. Another player AUFC are sending along is a mystery player from Ecuador. No hints have been given as to who this could be other than he's not young. So, good luck with your research and hunting with that one small clue. Atlanta United sending over players is all part of the affiliation with Charleston and one of the main benefits. Having three youth players come and play with professionals is a perfect way to judge where their current talent levels lie. Perhaps if any of them impress enough they could get picked up by Charleston and see some minutes this season.
http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/201...united-2017-atlanta-st-louis-sacramento-miami So Minnesota has to drop "United" and are pissed.
I don't know why we can't have two teams named united join the league. Oh well. I hope Minnesota keeps their logo / crest cause I think it's badass.
Rock 'Em FC@rockemfc For all you soccer fans in the dirty south, our @ATLUTD collection drops this Sunday, 2/28. #JoinTheClub
Richard Money has played a role in helping develop talent, moving it from academies to first teams in at least one of the positions in which that was his role. MLS expansion club Atlanta United is on the verge of announcing Money as the director of its youth academy. It’s an important role, arguably second only to the coach, because the person is tasked with helping to identify, nurture and polish the teenage players who may one day move up to form the backbones of Atlanta’s future first teams. An academy director is important becase the thinking goes, the better the talent in the youth academy, the better the team will be. The better the talent in the youth academy, the fewer ups and downs the first team might experience because good players can be moved up and plugged in without a drop in quality. The better the younger talent, theoretically the less a team has to spend to acquire talent on the open market to make its team competitive. Club President Darren Eales wants Atlanta United’s academy to also serve as an example for youth clubs throughout Georgia, helping them to improve their coaching and talent development. It’s a big job. Just think about what the Atlanta Braves just spent their offseason doing – trading veterans for gobs of younger talent – to understand why the director’s job is so important. So, how has Money done in his past jobs as academy director, or a similar role? Of the three places he has served, Aston Villa, Coventry City and Newcastle United, a look at the Geordies when he was there in 2008-09 shows some positive results. Here is a list of some of the players who were in the team’s academy on the under-18 team who moved on to first-team football: Striker Sammy Ameobi is with Newcastle but currently on loan at Cardiff in the Championship (a level below the Premier League); Midfielder Brad Inman is with Crewe in England’s League One (two levels below the Premier League); Midfielder Ryan Donaldson is with Cambridge United in League Two; Defender Paul Dummett plays for Newcastle’s first team; Midfielder Shane Ferguson is with Millwall in League One; Goalkeeper Jak Alnwick is with Port Vale in the League One; Defender James Tavernier is with Rangers in Scotland; Defender Ben Tozer is with Yeovil Town in the League Two; It’s impossible to know how much Money helped their development becuase he was there for just a year before becoming manager at Luton Town. But it would be hard to argue that he didn’t help in some way. It’s important to note that not every academy director will strike gold like Manchester United did in the 1990s with an academy group that included David Beckham, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes, or as notable as West Ham which has produced Mark Noble, Jermain Defoe, Frank Lampard, Glen Johnson, Michael Carrick and Joe Cole, to name a few.

Finally bought my season tickets. Not big on soccer, but going to try to get into it. I went cheap this time and just got a couple of seats for $360 in section 217. Pretty excited about it.
Darren Eales interview on 92.9 (seems like he does a monthly interview on there as they have the broadcast rights) - says they won't spend big on Goalie, America already has surplus so not great value. Says spine and top of pitch is where big money will be spent. - ~August will get a Manager. If they go foreign than will have an MLS-heavy assistant. - wants to target young. Not target the Drogbas. Wants the MLS to be taken seriously, and be a targeted transfer market where the club can sell and make profits. http://www.dirtysouthsoccer.com/201...pdates-on-many-atlanta-united-topics-on-local
