Adult coloring books are huge. There's a dude in my office that has his "artwork" all over his cubicle wall so I assumed he was a pedo but apparently it's legit.
Joined Pure today and cancelled on Gold's after about 6 years there. Downtown location for Golds is just fucking miserably laid out and crowded all the time. Pure is huge and has a ton of free weights and SPACE and their "crossfit" section doesn't cost $75/month extra like Golds... and they have a boxing heavy bag and speed bag. Went to Pure on Friday for a day-pass and hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng there were so many future mrs. tlau's there. caught eyes with a couple of the girls that were almost intimidatingly hot. Also a fair share of mid-late 40s/50s that looked like fucking michael jackson tier post-op. Fell in love with the girl that gave me directions, (the entrance is impossible to find on foot...) the tour, and the sales pitch. Will be *attempting to get her number tomorrow if she's there. Can't wait to give their yoga classes a shot. The talent at 6:30pm on weeknights has to be unreal. Also the quarry lake location is only ~15 minutes north of 5th street and has free rock climbing, paddleboarding, and kayaking. Well worth the extra $35 a month. I assumed it would be $100+ but $74 isn't bad at all.
Going to try and watch this USMNT game at Fado downtown. Any of you happen to be in the area come find me and I'll buy the Irish car bombs
SOMEONE'S trying to date rape TMB. C'mon guys, date rape is so high school. Checking out X-Games today, off to Houston for FPSF tomorrow.
3 ICBs down. Many more to go. Great crowd too. Have some guys from Houston in town and coming to meet us. Told them we were at OilCan Harry's on the back porch and just to come find us. Got a spot on the balcony to watch
I like the way they laid it out. Friday is all of the going hard in the paint. Saturday has lots of random stuff sprinkled in. Sunday is mostly low key / laid back music.
sorry hood b. goode next time. was gonna bring the dog out on a walk and stop by for a beer but we had some people show up to watch merica
After Tuesday night's Bday dinner... my love for Uchiko has been restored. Place is cunty as can be but goddamn is it great
RideAustin *i heard was up and running as of yesterday. Haven't had a prob with get me though Headed to Austin Bouldering Project for a day pass. Should be fun
Well..using wingz for the pickup after I land at ABIA tomorrow. Fare to my place (Brentwood) is $1 with their intro promo, normally $26
Get Me worked fine twice last night. Two drivers did cancel on us though? Just grabbed a normal cab on the way home. Heard good things about Fare. In San Marcos now. Did the river today. Hitting the square tonight I think? I've been drinking.
Fam, I am going to be relocating to Austin in a few weeks for grad school. I've never been to Austin but everyone tells me I should be pumped, so I very much am! Quick one - a couple of my classmates and I are looking at sharing housing. Right now most of our options are in either Clarksville or East Austin near the border with Cherrywood. I'm pushing for Clarksville (seems really nice, reasonably close to campus, and I think we found a bargain that I'm trying to convince these rich bastards to go for rather than the other more expensive options), but I wanted to ask for opinions here. Thoughts on each? Separately, any pro tips on basically anything Austin related is welcome. Is it worth going ahead and buying tickets to ACL or will I be able to buy them later closer to the day (when I actually might have friends to go with)?
Congrats Chuckles the Hippopotamus. Clarksville is a great area. Some good bars/restaurants over there and still walkable to a lot of stuff on west 5th/6th. Buddy used to live in Clarksville and we even walked to the W / main part of downtown several times. Not familiar with Cherrywood at all as I fear change and the east side of I-35. Pro-tip related to your question: Craigslist is a safe and great place in Austin. Have had a lot of transactions on there in the last 3 years. Use it for tickets to ACL and the week of/week before you can probably get a weekend pass for $150-175. Also being a student and living close to campus - it's a very bike-able city. From Clarksville you'd be able to bike to campus, downtown, east side, south austin, zilker and the greenbelt pretty quickly. Probably worth reading the last ~15 pages of the thread, or everything since it got back active ~2 years ago. Plenty of pro tips sprinkled through there and just general shit about stuff that goes on here different times of the year
My man. Thanks TLAU Yeah I'm definitely going to get a bike. Since I'm moving from overseas I don't have a car but I can't imagine not having one so I'll probably get a junker and just it use it sporadically. The only thing I've been unimpressed by in Austin so far is the price of housing. Fuck man. Maybe I'm just out of touch but it ain't cheap that's for sure. Should I be excited for dating in Austin? I'm pretty sure I should be excited.
taking the kayak out. will be posted by the power plant. Texas Rowing Center doing SUPs for $50 for the evening.
apartment living is unsustainable, at least living alone in a 1br I've mostly resorted to renting a room with ABP and no lease requirement
Any football/soccer stadiums in town open to the public? Trying find one to do a tour de stade. So some stands, pref concrete would be optimal
Going to west with a large group for a bday party tonight If anyone even mentions Rio I'm walking home
Wingz to/from ABIA and Fasten have been my play so far. We moved to an apartment just off of Barton Springs and love the location. So much to do/see/eat/drink
