I love that place. they built one of the drive thrus up by my house in cedar park, but its always got a line around the building.
The one downtown just prints money. Guess they have to in order to pay their lease but still. Its dangerous having it down the block from me during lunch time.
thought i was gonna abuse the I-n-O on S Lamar after it opened up but a couple weeks ago I called in a burger order at Lukes Inside Out (no clue why i haven't done this before) and just scooped it up on my way home. such a better burger toss up between Wholly Cow and Luke's for best burger on S Lamar (to go, black sheep has great burgers for dine in) IMO
There's an INO up in cedar park but I've been really underwhelmed the few times I've gone. Just so many other burger options. I've heard good things about P. Terry's but haven't gone. Anyone ever been to Rattle Inn? Got invited to an event there but not feeling the country vibe their website is giving off.
Rattle Inn is a solid venue they have all kinds of music come through. does give off a country vibe both on the website and actual appearance of the place inside. but it's large for a 6th street bar. if you go, stop by Ranch 616 beforehand and get a ranch water (topo, flavored tequila and some kind of orange/citrus liquor IIRC) and a fire in the hole shot:
girl lives in Lamar Union by me. rare lol IRL. it's true Jordan Monday 3 hrs · Austin, TX · When you find out he lives near the Domain and you're just not sure you can do a long distance relationship.
intense weekend Friday night: Edm concert @ kingdom. popped a couple tabs of the homegirl..if you know what I mean. intense experience. Saturday night: all white party @ tavern and market. had a sure lay with a cute blonde but screwed it up :/ today: Sunday funday @ the park. drinks and football A1 weekend
I didn't realize how true this was until I visited with a friend of mine who moved out (with his family) this Summer. They bought a place like 4 years ago at Rutland/N. Lamar (yes, shitty, I know) for $175k. Sold for $240k this summer. Literally did nothing to the house. They got sick of things like 1) not being able to go downtown except a night on account of traffic; 2) ditto; 3) ditto; 4) all their friends treating their house (with three little kids) as Scholz Garden. I haven't been back since 2008, so I was even surprised. These are two people who, two years ago, were the most die-hard Austin people I ever met in school at UT.
Going to trail of lights tues-thurs on 3 different dates this week. bitches love coffee and christmas lights
hmm. what happened TLAU ? the millenial mecca hates ridesharing? ---- But the waters are muddy on that key fact. Austin Mayor Steve Adler is indicating the fingerprints won't necessarily be mandatory, depending on how council members vote on the penalty details next month. And in the days leading up to the vote, Adler indicated he would try to entice the companies to have drivers get fingerprinted but not mandate it. That said, Adler is just one of 11 votes, and he sided with eight other council members in approving the new laws that require fingerprint-based background checks. Uber's take is that the law, as is, will lead to its departure from Austin, where it has amassed about 10,000 drivers.
Posted a summary and I think a link in the Uber Rating thread.Lyft seemed a lot more open to working with them on the new rules There's a new startup that says they'll take Ubers spot and follow any laws anyone says to
Uber is in the wrong here, IMHO. But it would set a bad precedent if they followed the restrictions here,so I technically see why they are doing it. Sucks for all the drivers though. Didn't SA work through the city restrictions?
Got a free ticket to the UT-Uconn game tonight if anyone wants it. Not a great seat but it's $75 to get in the upper deck on stubhub
So I had Franklins over Christmas time. I thought it was very good. It was also one of the more disappointing food experiences I've had in a while based on all the over the top love it gets. I was expecting bbq like ive never had before but it wasn't that. It was really good, like the really good bbq I've had at lots of places over the years. Wink, on the other hand, never disappoints. So good.
talking to a girl about hanging out tonight and she lives up northish around 620/2222. throwing all kinds of shade around for me living south / about to be living downtown. What is there in her area besides the domain? Don't care if kung fu and dogwood are opening locations up there it's still nowhere near as good as the downtown area. have found northies to be much more sensitive about their regional pride than the rest of us.
so do people that live up there go out at the triangle and domain as their go-to spots? I changed the subject and don't know if I want to bring it back up and ask more questions because she got sensitive
that's what i thought. idk maybe she's got a sense of humor and was fucking with me a little bit / just talking friendly shit. told her I'd meet her in the middle at Uchiko for peace talks and negotiations on long distance
she told me to get out of my south austin bubble and live a little. I told her in 3 weeks I was joining the downtown bubble and moving there and she was all "that's cool i guess but you need to get out more" was just curious if that meant people that live in that area are gung-ho domain/triangle, or if DT is still the primary spot. and then there's the possibility she was just talkin shit. Hard to tell. In my limited experiences, Payroll reps from ADP and Paychex are pretty fun / have a sense of humor/personality so now I'm kinda thinking she was just talkin shit. Just got done briefly dating our Paychex rep about a month ago. Thinking about texting her being like "you stopping hanging out with me has forced me to take out ADP girls instead" to see if that prompts her to want to kick it again.
I can confirm that a lot of northies don't want to head downtown due to traffic and construction but I think it gets misconstrued as "hating". I don't dislike downtown but it IS a major pain to even find parking sometimes.
the big pay lot between Franks and 4th is pretty good about having spots unless it's a big night. Plenty of times when we used to go out on West a lot we would park at whole foods. prob 4 blocks from dogwood
booked a place in Zilker (?) for my bachelor party in March how horrible of an idea is it to fly into San Antonio? flights to Austin from ATL are crazy expensive right now for some reason
Not a bad drive if you're not making it anywhere near AM/PM work traffic. If you're on 35 anytime from 5-7 bring a book
http://do512.com/p/new-antones-music-calendar good to see a solid venue open up with some good ones starting to shut down
So my company just bought a ton of land down by the water and we are going to move everyone in all 3 offices we have in Austin to some new super big building they have planned. Its years away but the thought of commuting downtown has me all Guess ill have to give up scenic views and move downtown with the go hards
Hey Tony Downtown > Rainey > 78704 living on Rainey would be tight but as far as "what can I walk to" it's in 3rd place. That's a big factor for me. Rainey and 78704 would be a toss up but I'd take Rainey probably. Even though it's dangerously close to 35 and I think you get cancer just by proximity
I know ill eventually like it TLAU but i like my 13 minute commute and my hill country view god dammit :(
There are a lot of places along 5th that back up to the Lady Bird trail / Shoal Creek. Rainey I believe has a spot that takes you to the trail as well. 78704 you'd have to go to zilker.
